    As a leather worker who has made a few watch straps (mostly for myself recently) it was pretty interesting to see that they used a sewing machine to place the holes for hand stitching. Pretty clever and clean as doing that in such thin leather can be problematic with a pronged punch .

      To add to the matter: although I'm a happy welding business owner, I used to sew ties for fun, usually using leather for the back-strap that holds shorter part of the tie and I did exactly this trick to make my life easier 😂 Cheers ✌🏻

    Kirby, the strap looks excellent, different and unique but classic at the same time!

    • @kirbyallison

      They have an extensive selection of already-made straps that are much less expensive. Between the sueded crocodile and the gold thread, this was by no means an ordinary watch strap, and it's priced accordingly. But, yes, all of my other watch straps from Jean Rousseau are much more reasonable.

    the lining is NOT stitched to the strap??

    • @kirbyallison
      @kirbyallison  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The reason that they did this is because the gold thread is quite rough (it's metal) and would aggravate the skin if sewn through the lining. On my other Jean Rousseau watch straps, the stitching goes through the lining.

    • @kirbyallison
      @kirbyallison  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I did! Everything they make comes with the quick release spring bars unless otherwise specified. You'll see that these are added when the watch is delivered in our next episode! The addition of the spring bars happens only once the watch is available to be fit to the strap.

    This is NOT a Quality strap, this is a 'cut edge strap, the cheapest and easiest way to make a strap.
    A Rembordé is a quality strap and shows craftmanship and skill.
    Extremely disappointing that Kirby does not know this and would even consider advertising such trash.

    • @kirbyallison
      @kirbyallison  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Criticism seems to be a bit out of line. The Rembordé edging technique is very nice; I couldn't imagine Jean Rousseau not being able to employ this technique should it be requested by the client. It wasn't something we discussed. But I'll certainly ask about it the next time I visit the boutique! Thanks for sharing!
