I had an abortion at 17 years old. I just turned 17 when I found out I was pregnant by my abusive ex. It was immediately clear that if I was going to save myself from abuse and a potential child, I only had a few options. Adoption was an option but I would risk him being involved in the process, which he didn’t agree with. Keeping the child was NOT an option as I had no resources needed. Abortion unfortunately was the only realistic option that meant I could free myself from the abusive relationship. It’s not what I wanted, but it’s what I needed at the time. The abuse only escalated while I was pregnant, and finally at around 10 weeks pregnant-I had enough! I had tried to poison myself hoping I would miscarry. He abused me more. Thankfully, I had the option to have an abortion with my moms permission and I met my husband later that year. I finished college and became a healthcare professional. We’ve been together for over 14 years now and have beautiful children made with LOVE!!! We have a beautiful family, live comfortably, and are able to provide our children with everything they need! I’m thankful I had an abortion!
I was in the same position. If I had the child, I would be stuck with this maniac who came to my front door with a sawed off shot gun! I terminated the pregnancy and moved 1400 miles away! Self preservation drives all abortions!

As a woman who had a miscarriage, and was told by a male doctor to "let nature take its course, I'm a FIRM believer in a woman's right to choose. I refused to carry a dead fetus to term. Do I personally believe in abortion, no, but it's not the governments job to tell ANYONE when they should and should not end an unwanted pregnancy.
It is risking the woman’s life! Infection and becoming septic. Not a fun experience. How about we make vasectomies mandatory? All men of possible reproduction age. They can reverse it.
Right there with ya sister! I found out the fetus heart beat had stopped at a 20 week u/s. For the next month my pregnancy hormones did _not_ drop at all! I had to go through Christmas and New Years knowing I was carrying a dead fetus, watching my aunt, who was at the same stage, get all these belly rubs & stuff, relatives didn’t know what to do with me, & was still expected to work by my boss!!
Not just an unwanted pregnancy, but a non-viable or deceased pregnancy as well.

That's why there are laws against rape and other sex crimes. I think men's part in all this has been addressed for a while now. The laws are not brand new.
@@dannycarlow8204 The laws are there, but when women come forward, they get victim-blamed, or there are no rape kits, or the kits get backlogged, or the judge gives the rapist a light sentence. So work does need to be done...to get the laws more stringently enforced.
But there is another case to be addressed: the man who impregnates a woman, but bails out when he finds out she's pregnant. If he doesn't want to support the child he helped create, then he should be forced to have a vasectomy. At his expense, since that woman will certainly have to pay for all her prenatal care herself. Because the GOPs doesn't believe in "socialized medicine."
