Marathon is beautiful. I was at that drawbridge this past December. When the hurricane came through it ripped up all the fencing around the bridge. I took some pictures of it in December before they put those concrete barriers across the road...The bases for the old wooden gate arms which went down when the bridge opened for boat traffic are unlocked, you can open the access panels and see all the guts which make the gates work. They’re still in perfect order, nothing stolen, still greased up and ready to operate..the gates need some obvious work though.. love the videos. Keep up the great work!
Hi Roly, Love this series on the bridges in the Keys! You said you would like to see the inside of the bridge tenders tower. I'm 66 years old now but when I was a little kid I got to do just that. My grandma and I were walking across a drawbridge in New York City. The bridge tender saw us and recognized my grandma as one of his neighbors. He asked if I'd like to see the operators tower (he didn't have to ask twice). As luck would have it a tugboat came by and he even let me push some of the buttons to open the bridge! Still remember it after all these years. Can't imagine something like that happening today. Ah, the good old days! Thanks for the memories Roly! Take care my friend.
As always enjoy your videos and commentary. Just wished was not so windy that most comments lost, but enjoyed any way. Keep up your great work, always enjoy!
Hey thats variety, makes the adventure better! I wish someone could donate an Osmo gimbal holder and a better mike for the wind noise. Doesn't bother me at all though. I'm surprised that control house hasn't been ransacked for the copper wiring. Soooo many boats! Thanks Roly!
Wonderful vid Roly, love your tours, just wish there weren’t so many abandoned bridges and tracks. But then you’d be out of business, lol, I hope not ! You do such a great job on your tours, thanks for sharing your views :-))
Similar situation happened in Sunset Beach, NC. There used to be an old one lane pontoon bridge with a tender house and everything that connected the island to the inland city. However it was taken out of service like this one, but replaced with a permanent concrete structure.
Wow, Rolly, what an intro for your last few videos! Are you going Pro on us? Love your new adventures, as always. Lost a little of your voiceover on this because of the wind, but love to watch you make these trips. Hoping I might get to Florida late this year or maybe next year, so would love to see you if it works out. Keep it up, Buddy! Best regards!
Very cool place to visit! Shame that they removed, drawbridges are very rare (and very interesting). I'd love to see one operating, but I haven't been so lucky yet... View of so many sailboats is really fascinating! Excellent video as always my friend!
RailROL82 Good Afternoon Roly I See You Did A Different Video Of A Abandoned Drawbridge That was Removed At Boot Key Harbor In Marathon Florida, I Remember Seeing This Bridge Back In 1965 When I Visited my Cousin When We Had A Three Month Vacation From School And Went Back After Labor Day You Brought back Memories To me Now This Bridge Will No Longer Be There Anymore It Will Be Gone But Not Forgotten,I Know Of Another Drawbridge in Card Sound Near Key Largo I Wonder if It's Still There. This Was A Complete Surprise to Me From Your Railroad Video's You Do, Roly My Friend You Did A Excellent Job On This Video, Have A Good Day Roly and Be Safe
RailROL82 Good Afternoon Roly I wasn't Aware Of That The Drawbridge Near Card Sound Was Removed To Make A Four Lane Highway In 2008 that Went Into The Aero Jet Rocket Facility In The Everglades I Didn't Know About That Roly Be Safe
+RailROL82: There's a drawbridge close to me that isn't abandoned, but the City of Kaukauna doesn't want to pay the money to get it fixed up and get it up-to-date. I'll provide a google maps link for you so you can check it out. www.google.com/maps/@44.2811471,-88.2661714,3a,75y,179.53h,89.93t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1swRENOWtDTBaXhCZVzUYs9g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en
Interesting that this bridge is abandoned. It was the only access to Boot Key. It’s a shame the audio was destroyed by the wind I would have like to hear the commentary.
I don’t know what camera you’re using I’m assuming it’s probably a go pro but you may want to reconsider redoing the video for this since that day you were out it was so windy you could barely hear half of what you’re saying as far as the bread you want to see if you’re planning on making that a fishing pier
Yeah, it was a terrible day for filming with the wind. I did go back and film a year after. Here's the link in case you'd like to see it... th-cam.com/video/ckHs3wDj4LY/w-d-xo.html
Interesting on how this video has nothing to do with a railroad. Also, over the years and decades, many drawbridges have been replaced by fixed structures. Well, that depends on the elevation of a road or highway, etc.

Roly,
Yes the bridge still exists and an interesting side note, it is part of the route for the N.Y.C. marathon. Google; Pulaski Bridge N.Y.C. Cheers.

Is it just me or at 2:18 does it sound like you can hear the bell to bridge go off? I was anticipating the bridge to start rising when I heard that
It's actually more like 2:10 actually
Matthew Helgeson It couldn’t’ve been, the drawbridge has an E Bell.

Very cool place to visit! Shame that they removed, drawbridges are very rare (and very interesting). I'd love to see one operating, but I haven't been so lucky yet... View of so many sailboats is really fascinating! Excellent video as always my friend!

Always interesting and odd to see an abandonned railroad crossing or drawbridge with an e-bell :) nice wishbone gates and MI 9 inch gates lights
Thanks for another great video, Guapo!
Cool new Intro!
Shame what happend to this bridge, they should have tore the whole thing down.
Great find with that Traffic Signal Base!
RIP Drawbridge, thanks for the service you did.

+RailROL82: Not a bad idea, I'll consider that when it starts getting warmer outside, since it's a bit chilly yet.
Computist40 I agree 100%
+Fusion Gamer: Whats that? Make that video where I was talking to Mr. RailROL about?
Nice intro video!
It's a shame to see something like this go to waste.

RailROL82 no need to apologize, it happens. When is it not windy in the keys?😎
Nice intro!! I gotta still work on the san leandro videos but i have two up
Are they going to replace the bridge or just cut off and dead-end the road at the ends and leave it with nothing? Do you know?
Nice work Roly, great video! Is there another point of access to Boot Key?
- Larry : )
"A" for content & originality, "F" for
the sound, mother nature bit you again, keep on pedaling :-)
I just watched this again, where the draw-span is removed, the gears are beyond repair, and the bridge tenders house is the same as it was left.
Awesome video! I know you can't help the wind but some subtitles would be nice!
OH the CC works?
Hey Roli need to buy wind sock for you phone can't understand what saying on the video
Why did the demolish the drawbridge?? +RailROL82
I hear some Mbells that sound flat.
At around 2:10.
There are no Mbells anywhere near here!
What’s your input on this
@@railfanlynx My input on you hearing M-bells?
Yes. It sounds like a bell ringing and it does sound like it’s hanging Over the water
Maybe it fell on after you left and became fishfood
@@railfanlynx Anything is possible lol
Awesome! I will post More videos tomorrow
👍👍👍
try to ask who owns the bridge to let you have that gate mech
You should have grabbed that E-Bell, (It might still work)!

As always interesting video Like
Nice video but unfortunately it's been removed 🙁. Has it been removed?
So is it still there?
No ones gonna talk about the fact that the drawbridge has a “Crossing Ebell?”
Good Intro :)
How sad I love drawbridges :(
I think they tear them down because of trespassers who walk on the old abandon bridges
Nice Video! What Happen to the draw bridge?😂😎
That’s a shame too many drawbridges are being made into fixed spans
Abandoned Drawbridge Being Removed nice video really good RAILROL82 i n Boot Key Florida
I would have snagged that electronic bell. No one would miss it.
Yep
This is boot key, there must have been many drawbridges in the keys.
Yes I saw the video, a friend of mine told me there was 4 drawbridges. They were except for this one on US RT 1
There’s a way to get there only if you ride a boat if it’s possible to the other side.
And helicopter, you can’t get there by car you can only there by boat, foot (swim) or helicopter Lol
Rest in peace
They got no money to fix it, but they have money to remove it.
Yes! Great observation, Thank you!

What a shame.
Guess what!
RailROL82 yes😀😀
Please take that e bell!
RailROL82 how much do I pay you to get it for me?
