The comparison between the Nigerians who came and chose to go to school versus the Asians who started businesses; your parents were correct in their choice. There are and were drawbacks to blacks owning businesses in the US. Most of them fail because they are not patronized. Also, in my opinion, as a black American, the Asians don't mind the condescending treatment of people who seem to patronize them. The Nigerians are and have always been too proud to let others look down on them. I admire the progress and I think they made the right choices.
The Oyinbos have washed our faces with the illusions of education, credit and their dream while digging out our continent please let us find our way back.
Of course, we need to educate ourselves about wealth creating and don't hope for the Oyinbo to show us how. Education doesn't help you create wealth, it just helped you make a living.
Funny how the few Nigerian men I have met, always seem to have a "house" in Abuja. I always wondered if they give free lots in Abuja. Even my regular cab driver has a "house". I'm always like, "well, why are you here"? As Africans in the diaspora, we need to tell the truth to each other and our families back home and stop keeping up appearances.
+Nana Ashanti Having a house in Nigeria or any other part of the world does not necessarily mean that you have to live there. Some people in the diaspora rent their properties for supplemental income, while they live abroad.
+al K I know that. my point here is, a lot of immigrants brag about things they may or may not have back home. if things are so rosy for you back home, why are you still struggling in another man's land?? people go broke trying to look rich.
I really like your conversations. I am an American black female. Not necessarily typical. 4 bedroom house in gated community paid for my Lexus paid for . Money in bank. Retired. But I was groomed as young female to save my money. We have money and not trying to look rich by anybody's idea. All 4 children educated doing well
Smart woman! It's not how much you make, it's how much you keep, plant and allow time to multiply. I plan on leaving something behind for my grandchildren. That's our goal. Debt is not your money, it's other people's ability to take what you voluntarily give away. Peace.
I learned so much by watching this show. I loved the statement "Nigerians in America make better mistakes." I just married a Nigerian and although I noticed the keeping up with the Jones thing, I've also noticed how generous they are with those in there community. They are very socially connected.
I am a Zambian currently doing research and working and studying abroad. Its so funny how so much of what you are saying is common to all Africans. Alot of Africans abroad who haven't visited Africa think the continent is still the same and backward and don't want to invest back home or go back home and learn from the entrepreneurial skills of our brothers and sisters back home. Also keeping up with the joneses is killing us Africans in the diaspora. Wanting to look good and successful rather than actually being successful seems to be the thing. I disagree with LD though its not the education that's the problem it's what you do with it that matters.
John Tembo I retired back to Nigeria 2 years ago and don't regret it ... its better to be in Africa and make a difference than to be sitting in some country where they shoot black men for sport .. and also RESPECT you can NEVER BE RESPECTED in the white mans land no matter ... and its true that Nigerians living back home live well I live very well in Nigeria and lack for NOTHING ... we too much like abroad its not that big of a deal
Yes the Nigerian people in America that I worked with all try to live so big they don't have food in the refrigerator. I know what I am talking about. They do a lot of pretending to be big than what they are hell just be who you are
Unfortunately, there's one thing that all of us black people lack. Unlike other groups of people, we failed to see how powerful we can be. We don't know how to organize. We have no idea how to unite as one and work collectively towards a common goal. Every 'race' or group of people effectively organize themselves and works towards improving their condition and power yet here we are. We have more resources and manpower than most groups/races yet they're controlling us and our resources in every way imaginable. We are the lost people. Our priorities are screwed. We are fighting over equal rights from other people. You don't ask people for your rights. You have those rights once you are at or above the level they are in. When you organize and become powerful that's when you have rights. Right now as a race, we are WEAK. Every race looks out for themselves EXCEPT us. For there to be any change in our condition, we have to work together. Now in Africa we have more of the African resources and land being given virtually for free to foreigners by African governments. Africans are leaving Africa in droves from every direction while foreigners are coming to take over the beauty and the resources of the continent. Ladys and gentleman, we have towns set up in some African countries that black people are not allowed to enter. In OUR own motherland people. Our problems are bigger than you can believe. We are the laughing stock of the world at this point. We forgot who we are. We forgot how powerful we we can be. AND most importantly we failed to understand that we STILL have time to change this.No weapons needed;JUST the organization of our minds. Remember how the Europeans organized and set up conventions/banks and colonized the entire world. They all didn't have a common language/culture yet they effectively organized and we can see the effects of their organization til this day. I really enjoyed your discussion and this channel. I hope you guys bring more issues to light and I hope one day soon we can actually set up conventions/banks of our own and resolve our issues as a race.
amiros amiras Your comment is so far one of the most powerful ever written on youtube when it comes to blacks .We are so messed up at the point that to be successful you will have to stay away from black people .
+amiros amiras I always see this reference about Europeans. Europeans did not organise as one. Part of the reason is they were always at war with one another. Colonisation was European competition to get an economic edge over one another and resources to control the other.
That is perfectly correct. The distinguishing factor is that in Nigeria, "you make money" but in America, "you earn money". In America there are no shortcuts but in Nigeria there are several shortcuts - connections, bribe and less bills.
+Christopher Osuoha It's possible in America through networking and social clubs among our rich and wealthy white Americans. Always the biggest brides are done politically by paying campaign money to elected officials.
This one made me a little sad because on this one you guys sound JUST LIKE African Americans. I would even go so far as to say that African Americans figured out a long time ago that our white counterparts were becoming wealthy without the education our parents were pushing. It's important! But if you're getting educated in order to become wealthy it can be a down right foolish idea. Your poor people in Lagos have more potential to become billionaires over here than any educated person does because they know how to sell and be entrepreneurial on the streets.
Not even only in Lagos. Have you heard of Aba Market? The products they sell there are handmade by the locals. Take for instance, There are china shoes (made of cheap leather), and Aba made shoes (made of pure leather), this is the same pure leather that is used to make all these expensive brand name shoes and bags marketed by Europeans, but these Aba made shoes are looked down upon simply because they come from a local market, even though they last forever. Do you know how much money would come out of major Nigerian markets if they were industrialized? I swear, Nigeria is slacking big time. They have been brainwashed by the white man to the point where they can't even think for themselves any more. A lot of them are willing to pay millions of Naira for White owned brands, but they are not willing to pay that same amount for Nigerian owned brands that are up to quality, smh!
Brother could you please explain to me by what you meant when you said “sounding just like african American?” I hate to assume anything . Also do you live America ? Just curious .
credit is the bane of our existence here in the West. Banks give it out so fast and charge high interest. people rack up credit on consumer goods that do not appreciate in value. years down the line, there is nothing to show and still paying back. I think the answer is go back to the way our parents did it...cash. if you don't have the money, don't buy it. Now real estate in Canada is blowing up and if one can, invest in real estate. i am so grateful i did.
That dude man a key point by saying the first generations went to the best schools and today they are living comfortably. They didn't go to Innovate they went thinking that just the fact they are in the best schools is everything. And when people talked about them everyone said oh they are in Harvard and the sentence stops there. No asks are they innovating....are they creating something new....the answer was no. They went to the best schools and we're thinking about graduating and getting a job afterwards which they did and today they are just ok after spending half or a quarter million dollars in tuition and they are just living ok not extravagant. So to Innovate sometimes u have to hit rock bottom.
Yes! Financial literacy/education should be a requirement. Our parents were deceived with the notion of credit. They treated it like grants and are now constantly in debt! The whole idea of keeping up with the Jones' is true. Some are force to participate in someone's attempt (e.g., paying for all of the expenses that comes along with being a bridesmaid or maid of honor for someone spending lots of money on their wedding). It would be a wise investment to put money toward a house instead, but no only are people wanting to show off, they are also pressured by parents who want to invite all of the 500 people that you have never met before to your wedding so that they can show off to them at your expense (not my parents, thank God...but it is common). Another thing is the mentality. You guys mentioned entrepreneurship but the mindset of what that looks like in Nigeria is not necessarily similar to how it works in America. Unfortunately, those who tailor their way of doing things to the land in which they live are apt for bankruptcy. One thing that was not mentioned is financially supporting or helping family that are back home.
Proud of you guys! You guys re intelligent and very handsome as well. You guys made Me proud of been a follow Countryman. A Nigerian In The Netherlands.
being comfortable and reach as far as i am concerned is being able to sleep at night ,not docking when your door bell go off.if you are debt free you are comfortable. believe me
This title is fitting not just for Nigerians but for African American culture as well but overall I think that financial ignorance has no barrier, it infects all cultures. If you have ever noticed every culture has various economic classes and I know for certain here in America it is those who work the smartest not the hardest who benefits the most from financial gain. It is ownership of businesses and wise investments that enable families to build wealth not just education I know more people with a ton of educational degrees including myself with little to know wealth but plenty of student loan debt to account for the ton of education I have received in my field of study. I think that going to the courthouse vs spending 25k on a wedding is a better financial decision and I do agree that financial education and marriage counseling should be apart of the educational curriculum across the board. Honestly, if people were to become enlightened about the power of their dollar the structure of social classes would collapse and the poverty mentality would be broken and so would many of the financial systems. It would force the price inflation to stop, I won't ramble but you guys definitely should create a part two to this segment because many of us apparently can see American culture within this category as well.
The cost of living in Nigeria is equivalent to the cost of living in America..Nigeria is a pay cash society unlike America where it's a credit society... the useless wood houses we buy for 1million dollars in America is such a total waste .. I can use that 1million dollars to build a better mansion, Infact a better infrastructure with good blocks and better roofing.. own my own property and not pay one useless mortgage to one strange person called bank..
Raulthomas30 i don't think so cos successful could mean that they have reached a certain position for example becoming a medical doctor (a position that pay a lot) but really they might not have much in their pockets due to all the bills they have to pay.
smilechynwa The definition of 'successful' is: 'having achieved fame wealth or social status'. If we take your example of a medical doctor I agree they've achieved social success but wealth does play a key part in determining one's success.
Who send u live on credit? Poor Analysis.. Living in Nigeria or America which is better? You enjoy Security, U enjoy electricity, good education, food, Health care, Good roads, in Nigeria Nothing is working.. The system is not set for u to owe, cut ur coat according to your size..
This assertion that Nigerians in America are broke compared to their counterparts in Nigeria is ridiculous. America might be a tough place but it at least offers the common man an opportunity to rise above poverty that is prevalent in Nigeria. Before making stupid statements you should at least compare the ratio of poor vs middle class vs rich in America compared to that of Nigeria. If you've ever lived in Fadeyi Lagos like I once did you'd see the stupidity of this panel.
this statement of theres somebody earning $6k dollars in US monthly and somebody earning the equivalent in Nigeria. did they consider the exchange rate, standard of living etc This looks like a beer parlour panel
Nonsense, am disappointed with your analysis. How do those Nigerians in Nigerians make money? Fake goods including drugs. Nigeria has a very long way to go. Nigerian has not even achieved human development talk of wealth. I was in Nigeria last year and the place is a big mess. I can tell you, if Nigerians start paying tax, caring about their health and lot of other things that define a civilized society, am sure all those " Nigerians with money" will quickly realized that they're not rich at all.
Gloria Daniels No mind am, if his/her village/state is a mess does that mean the entire country is as well? Weak asses always running to the colonizers' countries instead of building theirs. SMH.
Nwanna: your sweeping statements about Nigeria must be condemned in strong terms. Nigeria is not ‘a mess’ except in your community and your warped imagination!. I saw a vast improvement in all aspects of development in the Country when I visited nearly 2 years ago . There are a lot of challenges that need to be overcome in Nigeria, but certainly the country is now more vibrant and on the move. Your community and your friends & family are probably caught in the web of corruption of the oil and gas industry or in government ?Not all of the country or people are involved in sharp practices. Stop misinforming the unsuspecting public about Nigeria with your apparent ignorance!
Gabby Fidelis Every country has got traitors and Nigeria has got plenty of them. Leave them to their ignorance. Let them sleep with the so-called white people who are keen on exterminating their stupid asses.
Tamrin why did you say Nigeria is not a mess? Nigeria is the country with the most poorest people in the world,so what do you mean by it's not a mess? You are lieing to make yourself look good
Any african, Nigerian who says America is not good to him or her, it's most likely the person is lazy and will not even succeed if he returns to Nigeria because nowhere is a place for lazy people. And, anyone who is lazy in Nigeria will not come to America and become successful expect he changed his mindset. My advice to you from mine experience, when you arrive America, rest for one week, commit your hustle in prayer and fasting for one week and in the third week begin auto body repair. Any side job you want to start ensure it has the capacity to become your business tomorrow. Do not follow the bandwagon of people who have failed in the America.
Since a lot of Africa was colonized, is Nigeria’s culture of going to the best college, living in the right neighborhood, having an expensive wedding etc really African culture or is it European? Has Africa lost its original culture just like African Americans?
+Arthur Christian Yeah; why are so many African cab drivers so MEAN (maybe mean isn't the correct word; more so short tempered? Is it a cultural thing? I once had one that was so rude that I almost didn't tip him. But I went on and did so because I didn't want to reinforce the stereotype that Black people don't tip. I really wanted to say; why would you take a job working with the public if you clearly don't like it.
One of the Nigerian brothers on this panel said “my goal is to never let you know what I know.” He wasn’t saying that he personally does this himself but he knows others Nigerians that think this way. That statement was so deep and honest . But I have to be honest myself even though it is a small majority I know people in my own community that think in this way. Why is it so hard for us to trust each other?
The guy in the purple sweater: A lot of things that he voiced out are true but he put it in a sarcastic manner that it came across as rude or big headed of him. Especially his ending statement it's so bitter to swallow yet so true. Many Europeans when they hear the word Africa they think JUNGLE and POVERTY!
The problem of Nigeria who is living in America or European is that in Nigeria u can invest in Nigeria without discrimination from race difference, in American u have limite to thing u can do, but in Nigeria u don't have limite in Nigeria, the sky is ur limite. One love African
Good topic. The sound needs improvement. Since they're all seated, it's easy to pin a mic on each person. Nigeria is a materialistic society. That behavior follows Nigerians to America. A Nigerian worries a lot what people think of him. Personally, I have resisted getting trapped in the American system of credit. I had a mortgage. But I worked my ass off to pay it off in five years. Once I owned my house free and clear, I now buy everything in cash. I do not use credit. I carry credit cards, buy they are paid off in full each month.
" Lot's of the wealth of our fathers have been passed on to the next generation". Most of our fathers that do have houses have those houses in the villages in Nigeria. Most of the time, one house whereby the fathers themselves do have more than a child that is to inherit that one house. The children of that father will still have to go out there mostly far away from the village to have and build their own individual houses. Children of that one man that have that one house.
Nigerians in the UK and the USA are broke simple. 9-5 jobs etc. My dad works from Nigeria on housing and makes millions a year. All the people i know, over here in the uk, that have been here since they were born are poor to me..simple. I am a pharmacist, and when i told my dad my salary, he was depressed. Cant wait to finish and go BACK HOOMMEEEE
Tosin Ojo who doesn't do 9-5 or more? You get unhappy to see ppl work hard. How much do you think you will earn as a pharmacist in Nigeria? How much are pharmacist earn in US and UK? Where do you have high probability of been owed? What is your growth plan? If your plan is to go back to Nigeria for a treasure your dad has kept for you or you have a plan, good. If you plan to go back and look for job in the ministry, or aso rock, your salary will never be more thank a pharmacist who earn about $150k minimum in US with good benefits. Your max salary at retirement as a pharmacist in Nigeria is about 14million a year. Compare that with a starter with $150k a year whose at retirement, has a mansion in US, pharmaceuticals shop in US, home a in different states and in Nigeria.
When I said 9-5 jobs I meant working to pay bills and debts. Most people here are stuck and live like that.....my dad like most successful people work for much longer hours than 9-5, but he loves his job, and employs over 250 people. The minimum salary in the USA for a pharmacist is not 150k, lol...do your research ( i know many people earn from 80,000- 115...anything above that...very lucky). In the Uk, pharmacists earn a minimum of 26,000 approx 37 000 USD to around 55 000 pounds (78, 000 USD). Some earn more but are top of the field experts. I have zero student loans thank God, but many Nigerians have to pay these loans off, the high taxes that takes a considerable chunk of your earnings (40% in the UK above 45000 I think), high cost of living etc...at the end of the month, you barely have enough and are still neck deep in debt. I have many friends who are so-called high earners. Sorry oh, the rich Nigerians are in Nigeria, that was my point, with the exception of 1 person, i have never met a wealthy Nigerian, who lives here. I am not talking about Nigerians that visit or spend some time here. The only wealthy Nigerian I know there is also a pharmacist, he made his money from the UK and owns a pharmaceutical company, as well as many pharmacies here. I remember visiting his home on the Marina, he even owns a huge yatch, which is something... everyone else is doing care job, or IT, or a nurse. Don't get me wrong, these are perfectly respectable, but i was just trying to think about the videos context.
Tosin Ojo You must have surrounded yourself with this category of people. When I came into US, I was almost going to end up in such midst but I picked myself up after one week of arrival. I told myself after hearing all Papa's messages, I can't be poor. I started working in auto shop, did I enjoy? Yes I did because I was planning on learning and owning mine someday, but God elevated me from GE to a multinational oil company in 1 month. My salary became double of what I earned in the highest paid oil company in Nigeria, figure that out. If in 1 month I got my feet, higher than I was in Nigeria where I earned more than most Nigerians. How much more people who have stayed here years. Secondly, you do not amass debt, ppl are well paid but they need financial education. I expect your program to teach it not to teach how many people are broke. Today, I live a good life, I don't spend unwisely, I have personal project I am developing in China and India. America is a land of huge opportunities. Some say I am going back to Nigeria, if it is to make it there, it's a sign of failure, if you fail in US, it's most likely you will fail in Nigeria because there are huge obstacles. Buhari is waiting for you too.
I live in the Uk, and I haven't failed not at anything in my life, and I wouldn't fail in Nigeria, failure is never an option. I am in an academic environment doing my Ph.D. in one of the top universities in the country. I think I surround my self with ok people. Nigerians that grew up in Nigeria, and the ones that grow up here a 2 different kettles. The ones that grow up here amass debt, those college debts are crazy and pack on interest . My Dad pays 23,000 a term in a private school in the USA for my sister alone, imagine if she borrowed that money, it would have to be paid at an interest of over 100% by the time she was through paying it. America is a land of opportunities, much better for Nigerians than the UK, and Nigerians are doing well all over, but the very wealthy Nigerians are in Nigeria simple. I am going to go into the housing business in the Uk and reinvest in Nigeria. I know my father makes his money in Nigeria from housing, and i am better off than probably 90% of the people i meet here and in the USA (i get down to Texas twice a year)..Nigerians and whites alike. Every one knows some international students come from very comfortable homes. My father started his company in Nigeria 12 years ago in his car boot, and now he builds estates of over 700 housing units in Abuja. Nigeria is also a land of opportunity. Given, the current situation is dire...but believe you me... I am bound for Naija, once I get what I want out of here. I am happy that you are succesful in the USA, keep investing and making good descitions, people like you make Nigerians proud. As for me, my destiny is in Nigeria, i will raise my children there etc.
The fact is the kind of job that will make me 1000usd aside my rent n utilities, thiis same job is not gonna make me upto 200usd in naija. Infact in naija u take ur monthly salary n use all of them for food n rent . U wont be able to sace a penny. Somebody take me to America
I just watched this video. I lived in Nigeria and recently moved to USA. successful Nigerians in US live better and richer than the Nigerians in Nigeria. First, look at annual pay check in both places. Check job opportunities in both places, consider what you pay for in US and what you do not pay for in Nigeria. If you believe the quality of life in US is better, who pays for it? we pay for it, and the facilities we enjoy here, we pay for it. if Nigerians begin to pay for all these, we can compare truly apple for apple. For this reason, your show needs for KPIs for your assertions.
Had to rewind to make sure I heard him right from 10:30 "Wrong decision our parents made was actually going to get an education.." Your Nigerian parents made a mistake by going to the best schools? That's obtuse. Good thing is, the gentleman in glasses disagreed with him On the overall, you guys acknowledged the difference in the Nigerian and American systems, yet you drew a direct comparison between wealthy Nigerians and the American middle class. Makes no sense.
I see Nigerians may sometimes have the same problems as African Americans. I'm always amazed that African Americans will buy a brand new Range Rover, but have it parked in front of a trailer or shack. Even though there is nothing wrong with owning a trailer, I feel the owner should be more sensible and have a more affordable vehicle. I do wish that I learned to manage money like my parents when I was younger, but now I definitely try to save more than spend. I like to look good, but on a budget.
I believe, It's all boils down to choice and personal discipline, you create the life you want, base on your values, Education is a valuable part of life. Some us us just tend to place emphasis on social values, rather than principle;s that produces lasting result in life.
Pascal is actually making valid points, the guy in the grey blazer too. However, the dude in all black makes alot of noise. As for first dude from the left, ehmm!...nvm.
Nice try brothers, you know the selling point,I mean, you know exactly what we want to hear about brothers in America.keep growing your channel, keep the coin coming in. I know. A friend who live over there,he makes just $2k a month doing a very menial job as he's new to the system that's about 720k here in naija.let's divide this into 2,that's about 360k.how many graduates make even half of the 360k in Nigeria? OK an average medical Dr earns BTW 192-250k in Nigeria. Br,just be grateful and don't deceive us. Oh you have some points though, but let's start with asking if you've thought us how to start a you tube channel at least.Stop looking at the thieves who steal government money in Nigeria. Judge by checking the graduates.
Bribery library everywhere you go it's ridiculous for what I hear over there in order to get anything done you got the bride everybody is who you know and if you don't know anybody you going to pay out more especially being a foreigner going home to the motherland if you're a foreigner or if you're a poor person you may never get what you need done ever in life
Black Dynamite Have you searched Nigerian-American owned businesses in those cities? A lot of them are doctors and professionals. Not lazy from what I know.
False! Nigerians are the most educated immigrants in the US and are some of the highest paid due to their elite professions. The ones that are broke are uneducated or lazy or have no clue why they are in America. Are there not broke Nigerians in Nigeria? Coming to America alone will not solve all your problems, you have to be hard working.
lets go with facts: America is not the greatest country in the world neither is it the land of the free (talking about real freedom where citizen can leave in peace and harmony without aggressive police officers harnessing or even worst killing them) furthermore America passport doesn't hold number 1 in the most powerful passport rank (and yes there is a passport ranking) Dominating the Passport Index, European countries have long since reigned as the most powerful passports in the world (yes that's right IN THE WORLD). Index aside there are other things to consider and below are the top 10 best passport 2018. Luxembourg at number 1 & Irish Passport coming in 2nd Luxembourg citizens can travel without a visa to 177 countries and can hold both dual and multiple citizenships. Ireland takes the second spot with a score of 109 alongside Switzerland. With an Irish or Swiss passport, citizens can visit 176 countries. The Irish can apply for dual citizenship and the Swiss can enjoy tax-freedom. 1. Luxembourg 2. Ireland / Switzerland 3. Portugal 4. Sweden / Italy / Spain / Finland / Denmark 5. Germany / New Zealand 6. Belgium 7. France 8. Iceland 9. Netherlands 10. Czech Republic Outside Europe the most powerful passport is Singapore
Real Expose` - According to Atlas &Boots 2019 Best Passport Rankings, The UAE was ranked first, followed by Germany. The U. S. tied for 3rd place with 12 other countries, mostly Europeans. Best was determined by the ease of access to other countries the passport affords you without a visa and/or the availability of a visa on arrival with a particular country’s passport.
Go to school and get a real good Job.Save more than you spend. I don't know what you guys are talking about. I save Close to $20,000.00 a year and so many people save more. Plan your life, you Nigerians live a false life. Buy a house you can pay for , buy a car you can pay for and you wont be broke. I bought a house at 25 ,did a 15 year mortgage , am 39 and I have one year left to pay it off. I owe no man a dime . Why? My parents taught me financial responsibilities.
LD needs to allow others to speak more. He seems to interrupt a lot, thinking his opinion is more important. People who speak loudly don't necessarily have the best things to say.
First of all, you can’t just say Nigerians, because you haven’t met 3% of Nigerian-Americans...I’m Nigerian-American, And I know a number of people that are not, stop making silly generalizations...why is this a topic? Who thought of this? Who are these people?....I just came across this video and as expected, I wasted my view...
You have similar issues that AA have. The only thing that separates us is slavery and geography. AA and Igbo are the same Israelite bloodline. The "curses" of Deuteronomy 28:15-68 are on us BOTH. Your family structures are more intact simply because you have spent less time in America. The males of the tribe of JUDAH have similar characteristics and struggles. I really learned a lot from watching your video. Thanks for posting! For further study of who we are, please visit the channel of a brother by the name of truemessageofchrist7.
This is a useless and pointless comparison. What you should be comparing is the AVERAGE Nigerian in America vs. the AVERAGE Nigerian in Nigeria. Comparing the top 1% is pointless, deal with the masses. And if you did that, you would resoundingly agree that the average Nigerian in USA is earns more than the one in Nigeria and most likely financially better of than the average Nigerian in Nigeria. You should look at the masses, the 90% of the population, not the uber wealthy. Use data to answer arguments, not opinions. And with data I wills simply say check the average income in Naija vs USA, check the average net worth in USA vs Nigeria. There is no controversy whatsoever.
BLACK AMERICAN MAN THAT HAS LIVED IN NIGERIA BEFORE FOR 4 YEARS WITH HIS AFRICAN WIFE.. I LOVE THIS CHANNEL.. PLEASE KEEP IT COMMING MY BROTHERS...

+Nana Ashanti Abuja real estate is very expensive. Sometimes you have to be really wealthy to own a house in some parts of Abuja.
+Nana Ashanti Having a house in Nigeria or any other part of the world does not necessarily mean that you have to live there. Some people in the diaspora rent their properties for supplemental income, while they live abroad.

+oseme thompson I can imagine.
It's the truth, my dear. That Taxi driver perhaps has an advanced degree, had a very good job before foolishly moving to America.
I really like your conversations. I am an American black female. Not necessarily typical. 4 bedroom house in gated community paid for my Lexus paid for . Money in bank. Retired. Smart woman! It's not how much you make, it's how much you keep, plant and allow time to multiply. I plan on leaving something behind for my grandchildren. That's our goal. Debt is not your money, it's other people's ability to take what you voluntarily give away. Peace.
Good for you! Smart.
+oriolori89 When i watch BATTABOX i want go nigeria forever,.
+John Tembo Give every one in africa free tv ,.
tuforu4 give us electricity for 24/7 360 days a year first ..lol
+oriolori89 365 days,.
I hope you guys bring more issues to light and I hope one day soon we can actually set up conventions/banks of our own and resolve our issues as a race.
amiros amiras
Your comment is so far one of the most powerful ever written on youtube when it comes to blacks .We are so messed up at the point that to be successful you will have to stay away from black people .
+amiros amiras I always see this reference about Europeans. Europeans did not organise as one. Part of the reason is they were always at war with one another. Colonisation was European competition to get an economic edge over one another and resources to control the other.
+randomusernamemygod , I was waiting for somebody to remind people about the rivalry Between Europeans.
Amiraz Iiab You need to write a book.
Amiraz Iiab Jesus you wrote a book
That is perfectly correct. The distinguishing factor is that in Nigeria, "you make money" but in America, "you earn money". In America there are no shortcuts but in Nigeria there are several shortcuts - connections, bribe and less bills.
+Christopher Osuoha yeh seems so,
+Christopher Osuoha we have these shortcuts in America too you just have to be born to the right class to experience them.
BAP Jones tell me , i want go USA,.,
+BAP Jones you are right
+Christopher Osuoha It's possible in America through networking and social clubs among our rich and wealthy white Americans.
Machiavelli's Prince True!!!
Brother could you please explain to me by what you meant when you said “sounding just like african American?” I hate to assume anything .
Also do you live America ? Just curious .
Very true.
credit is the bane of our existence here in the West.
+tatiana BWHAAA! !!
tatiana stop Cheating Yourself and stop Fooling Others, America is a piece of Shole
being comfortable and reach as far as i am concerned is being able to sleep at night ,not docking when your door bell go off.if you are debt free you are comfortable. believe me
Great topic, this made me as a Nigerian to think twice and deep.
It would force the price inflation to stop, I won't ramble but you guys definitely should create a part two to this segment because many of us apparently can see American culture within this category as well.
finances should be taught in school starting from childhood
I am Kenyan born and I love your show. it's very relatable
Ovendi wefwe, l have always wanted to say that .hehe
Pascal is just so so matured. I absolutely love him
Love the conversation..
OMG, I BELIEVE I AM SAFER IN NIGERIA, THAN HERE IN AMERICA WHERE I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE COPS, THE RACISM, THE CROSS CULTURAL DIFFERENCES ETC.
thank you! I'm coming back to Naija
And yet most of you are in America, broke as hell not owning even that wooden useless 🏡 you claim
'Successful Nigerians in America are broke' ...sounds like an oxymoron to me.
If we take your example of a medical doctor I agree they've achieved social success but wealth does play a key part in determining one's success.
u said "fame, wealth or social status" not "fame, wealth and social status"
smilechynwa Success is subjective right?
+Raulthomas30 you guys argue about anything,.
great topic...sounds like conversations I have with my friends everyday
You guys nailed it! You may not realise this; I think you've spoken to me directly. Thank you!
Here are some good financial conversation that are applicable to all
Who send u live on credit? Poor Analysis.. Living in Nigeria or America which is better? You enjoy Security, U enjoy electricity, good education, food, Health care, Good roads, in Nigeria Nothing is working.. The system is not set for u to owe, cut ur coat according to your size..
Interesting points guys! I'm late to the channel but I'm binge watching lol
+naijainct Bless you! My point exactly.
this statement of theres somebody earning $6k dollars in US monthly and somebody earning the equivalent in Nigeria. did they consider the exchange rate, standard of living etc
This looks like a beer parlour panel
Stupid panel
Exactly!
You are lieing to make yourself look good
Tamrin you are fool of crap, you said Nigeria have traitors and stuff and yet you are speaking English lol please is English your father language?
Any african, Nigerian who says America is not good to him or her, it's most likely the person is lazy and will not even succeed if he returns to Nigeria because nowhere is a place for lazy people. And, anyone who is lazy in Nigeria will not come to America and become successful expect he changed his mindset. My advice to you from mine experience, when you arrive America, rest for one week, commit your hustle in prayer and fasting for one week and in the third week begin auto body repair. Any side job you want to start ensure it has the capacity to become your business tomorrow. Do not follow the bandwagon of people who have failed in the America.
ejike , you are very right
Thanks for the beautiful enlightenment
Mahnnn you guys speaking my mind right now
Where do you have this conference? I'd like to join the talk, and detox.
Please more topics like this! Thanks
Since a lot of Africa was colonized, is Nigeria’s culture of going to the best college, living in the right neighborhood, having an expensive wedding etc really African culture or is it European? Has Africa lost its original culture just like African Americans?
interesting.... hollywood have done us strong thing... i'm also a victim... i still find it difficult to bliv life can be hard in the states
Pascal looks like Brother Malcolm X
stop talking over eachother
It has always puzzled me why my African cab driver has a degree in engineering, yet is driving this cab with a bad attitude.
He's frustrated
Wow so much truth here
Most people in America live pay check to pay check
AFRICANS ARE SUCCESSFUL IN WASHINGTON DC AND GEORGIA.
Well spoken guys! Keep it up
One of the Nigerian brothers on this panel said “my goal is to never let you know what I know.” He wasn’t saying that he personally does this himself but he knows others Nigerians that think this way. That statement was so deep and honest .
But I have to be honest myself even though it is a small majority I know people in my own community that think in this way.
Why is it so hard for us to trust each other?
Proud African American Years of slavery and self hate.
The brother working finance in black is so right, they were all making sense.
Most African Americans are broke. Same issue.
Tosin Ojo
You must have surrounded yourself with this category of people.
The ones that grow up here amass debt, those college debts are crazy and pack on interest
.
Tosin Ojo I love your comments. No place like Nigeria.
Wise men. ❤️
Say you're broke. Don't say Nigerians in America are broke
Had to rewind to make sure I heard him right from 10:30
"Wrong decision our parents made was actually going to get an education.."
Your Nigerian parents made a mistake by going to the best schools? That's obtuse. Good thing is, the gentleman in glasses disagreed with him
On the overall, you guys acknowledged the difference in the Nigerian and American systems, yet you drew a direct comparison between wealthy Nigerians and the American middle class.
+nubiansista4life But you do know that all Americans are guilty of this right? There's a reason why America is in debt. Not just African Americans.
Makiavelli's Prince That's true!
They may be broke, but at least they are alive! They also have more opportunities, better housing, utilities, food, and water! ~ J
I believe, It's all boils down to choice and personal discipline, you create the life you want, base on your values, Education is a valuable part of life. Some us us just tend to place emphasis on social values, rather than principle;s that produces lasting result in life.
A college education does not mean smart,,,,a man who has his business and very discipline base does better,,even the lawn business guy....
Once you expect to work to earn a living and you live below your means, you'll live a comfortable life regardless of your geographic location.
You guys provide good content keep it up
Pascal is actually making valid points, the guy in the grey blazer too.
Corporate doesn't make your ass successful. What's the definition of success. Material things.
Most Nigerians in Nigeria are broke... Most Nigerian all over the world are broke. LOL
abimjo Sadly
ITZ A LIE!!! NIGERIANS NOT BROKE!!!👊💚🍀
I think I'll watch this video every week, truths!!
Bribery library everywhere you go it's ridiculous for what I hear over there in order to get anything done you got the bride everybody is who you know and if you don't know anybody you going to pay out more especially being a foreigner going home to the motherland if you're a foreigner or if you're a poor person you may never get what you need done ever in life
The guy on the left loves this seat belt analogy, what did seat belts ever do to hurt you boo?
I don't know one business owned by Nigerians in America and I've lived in New York City, Atlanta, Arizona, Louisiana, St Louis, all over
Black Dynamite Have you searched Nigerian-American owned businesses in those cities? A lot of them are doctors and professionals. Not lazy from what I know.
Black Dynamite
They own small businesses like grocery stores, restaurants, home health and office cleaning and janitorial services.
So if Nigerians in Nigeria r so much better y do they come to America in the first place.
rose eze the broke Nigerians like me migrate the rich don't
@rose Eze: you don’t get the argument, do you. Would you like to be reminded that it’s mostly the broke in Nigeria that often escapes to America?
5 minutes into the video and I'm out! Deuces people 👌✌
Wow

How many of those in Nigeria have save money for retirement
lets go with facts: America is not the greatest country in the world neither is it the land of the free (talking about real freedom where citizen can leave in peace and harmony without aggressive police officers harnessing or even worst killing them) furthermore America passport doesn't hold number 1 in the most powerful passport rank (and yes there is a passport ranking) Dominating the Passport Index, European countries have long since reigned as the most powerful passports in the world (yes that's right IN THE WORLD). Index aside there are other things to consider and below are the top 10 best passport 2018. Luxembourg at number 1 & Irish Passport coming in 2nd
Luxembourg citizens can travel without a visa to 177 countries and can hold both dual and multiple citizenships.
Ireland takes the second spot with a score of 109 alongside Switzerland.
With an Irish or Swiss passport, citizens can visit 176 countries.
The Irish can apply for dual citizenship and the Swiss can enjoy tax-freedom.
1. Luxembourg
2. Ireland / Switzerland
3. Portugal
4. Sweden / Italy / Spain / Finland / Denmark
5. Germany / New Zealand
6. Belgium
7. France
8. Iceland

Outside Europe the most powerful passport is Singapore
Real Expose` - According to Atlas &Boots 2019 Best Passport Rankings, The UAE was ranked first, followed by Germany. The U. S. tied for 3rd place with 12 other countries, mostly Europeans. Best was determined by the ease of access to other countries the passport affords you without a visa and/or the availability of a visa on arrival with a particular country’s passport.
Nigerins in Nigerians is far richer than Nigerians in American, which Nigerian in American can u compare with to Andi Uba or Dangote
LD insists no one talk over another yet he continually does it - loudly! Please STOP!
Is that Shehu from “MY AMERICAN NURSE”??
Chaaiiiiii
Did not see what happen to us in slavery and even Now
Yo thats my uber driver in this video lol
Go to school and get a real good Job.Save more than you spend. I don't know what you guys are talking about. I save Close to $20,000.00 a year and so many people save more. Plan your life, you Nigerians live a false life. Buy a house you can pay for , buy a car you can pay for and you wont be broke. I bought a house at 25 ,did a 15 year mortgage , am 39 and I have one year left to pay it off. I owe no man a dime . Why? My parents taught me financial responsibilities.

You are an exception. You did not buy into the American system of buy now and pay later. Good for you.
Truth!!
I'm sorry but Pascal accent is so strong can u speak slower please....I want to hear ur points
LD needs to allow others to speak more. He seems to interrupt a lot, thinking his opinion is more important. People who speak loudly don't necessarily have the best things to say.

Outdated - Genntlemen, please record new material. In fact all of your tapes are outdated . . . . . . . . . What's up with this?
Wtf and Americans in Nigeria are so scared true or false?
