Nickel azo yellow is my favorite yellow. It's what I used in my primary palette for ultra light thru hiking. When you're walking 3000 miles in 5 months, while carrying all their needs in their back, one travels a light as possible.
And they are readily great for people who like granulation in their paint. Because when those pan rust, and they will, you'll have all the free granulation you could ask for.
@@phillipstroll7385 The new ones don't seem to rust. Many use them for long enough. If you fear from rust you can always spray them over with transparent enamel before you put the paint in.
I really hope I don't lose it, haha! I have a pocket in my case which fits it nicely, so hopefully it'll stay put. And I don't leave it on a bench somewhere! ❤
That painting came out great! I'd be curious to see some mixing with that weird palette, just to see what kind of range you could get with those colors.
Adorable painting! Seems your color selections turned out well. I have that little Demi Palette too - a good one for on the go... Hope to see you out and about - maybe a good one for your travel to Greece.....??? and then again maybe not...???
Thank you! I'm in the process of organising my art kit for Greek travel - I'll show you what I've ended up with in a few more weeks. Quite possibly that demi palette is in there...😆
Well that was a mega cute video overall!!! Super adorable palette's and a super cutie Teddy bear for your wonderful art! I've never seen a palette so small in my life! The colours you choose were all working very well together but I think you'll struggle with the ice blue, that's unless you want to paint lots and lots of snow hahaha! Great video! Thank you!
Thank you! Tiny palettes take forever to fill, because they're so fiddly, lol. I don't think Greece is going to have much ice, so Ice Blue probably won't get used much at all, lol!
I love your teddy bear!!! He turned out amazing!! I love art toolkit palettes. I use the pocket and demi palettes together too. Filling those tiny pans is definitely painful, I always make such a mess. I need one of those divided porcelain palettes like yours to make it easier!!
This painting is so adorable!!! I have those palettes too and the Folio also and I love them. I like that I can change colours as I wish. I have plenty of these tiny pans and fill them with different colours which I can mix and match in the palette. There is also a mixing palette available but it is expensive. I purchased a credit card holder from ebay (very cheap) and some mixing pans from Senior art and made my own mixing palette. The mixing space in the Demi palette is too small for my needs.
The Folio is so tempting, maybe I'll end up with that size too at some point, haha! Ah yes, the demi palette's mixing area is a bit too tiny. I may well chuck in an extra palette to my travel kit. I have a plastic one somewhere....I just need to find it! 😆
You are going to get through so much greenish raw umber. It’s bizarrely useful. Oh yes, you’ve discovered that. Hehehe. Random colour combination palettes are the best.
I love the Art Toolkit magnetic palettes! I have 2 of the demis: one is extras to my 28 set and the other is a basic selection of 12 to take by itself for a minimalist portable sketch kit.
Those tiny art tool palettes are so cute! Oh, and hi Becky! I hope to get one of those palettes myself one of these days. I also really liked your teddy bear painting. He or she is adorable.
That is the cutest little palette ever! I love the colours you picked for your tiny dancer palette, different but noice, noice. They can stand on their own too, how wonderful. And the bear is adorable, so well done. Thanks for sharing, Becky. (I have palette envy, lol) 😊😍
I've got my art kit together already, haha! Yes, I'm taking both of these palettes, a sketchbook and other bits & pieces. Very minimal kit but I need something because I would miss drawing and painting for an entire month. I'm hoping to fill the book with sketches of Greece - we shall see! I'll hopefully post a video nearer the time showing my whole kit. 😊
Limited pallets can be fun and exciting in the results. These super small pallets seem a bit gimmicky to me, because there are so many other options that hold more paint. Lov the teddy.
If you have a magnetic phone holder on a swivel ball, or a magnet pen for picking up dropped screws, you can use it to hold the empty pan while you fill it. Then a tweezer or surgeon clamp (it looks like a long handle scissor with needle nose and locking notches to hold the nose points closed) to transfer the filled pan to the palette.
Lovely painting💕 Turns out green umber is rather useful after all. The porcelain palette hack is brilliant and I am definitely stealing that idea when I finally fill my Art Toolkit palette. The anthraquinoid scarlet is interesting in mixes, so I think with a little experimenting that you will like it. Also, where did you find an Isaro sable brush? I checked their website, but only saw squirrel and synthetics. Thanks for sharing Ted with us😘
I am hoping I can get more use out of the scarlet! I am very silly; I keep calling that brush Isaro, when it is actually Isabey! Isabey 6221 Kolinsky Sable, I think mine is a size 4 round. That would explain why you couldn't find it, lol! 🙈
What’s nice about these tiny palettes is you can try adding in unusual or fun colors you might get around to using otherwise and you can switch out a color much faster if it’s not useful!
That's so true! I'll need to pick up some additional empty mini pans so I can swap things out if I need to. Right now I have no spare ones, so I am "stuck" with these colours and I'll just have to deal with it, haha! But really I am quite happy with them for now, so it's all good. 😄
What a lovely porcelain palette. It is also an issue for me to consider cats approaching the paints and especially my diabetic cat who wants to drink the water with which I clean the brushes. Good video!
10:04 a very simple normal fine eraser does the same job, no need for anything special. Only a normal eraser would leave some crumbs behind so not recommended to do it with the paints nearby. I regularly clean my plastic palettes with eraser. Another funny hack I have discovered is unused old phone screen protector folie. They are made of some kind of hard plastic and they don't stain, so cleaning is like cleaning a ceramic plate. Just wipe it. The white background is given by the plastic.
I'll try that out as well. I have another palette which is being really stubborn and the magic eraser hasn't worked so I'll have a go with a regular one, thanks!
Be cautious with the magic erasure. They are made if powdered glass. They don't so much as clean as buff away the top layer of whatever you are cleaning.
Melamine, if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure that's how they work, but in this case it was so badly stained I couldn't get anything else to work for removing it. I'll see over time if it erodes the plastic!
Oh my god is this palette the cutest 😩💖 I feel you about forgetting about the wet tissue, my problem is that I use them to wipe my nose and realize too late what I've done 😅😅
I have ordered both but only use the business card size one. It's already small enough. When I ordered it I kind of knew that I will not use the demi palette, but I ordered it anyway because it looks so cute. I wanted to have it.😅
Pinch your tubes from their sides down by the fold and they'll stop pushing from exploding out. This is why I hate metal tubes. All paint should come in plastic tubes as far as I'm concerned. But anyway, yes, pinch from sides down by fold.
I can't remember if I have tried that technique, or if I have a special gift of getting them to explode regardless of what I try. Ah well, I was able to save most of the paint this time around. The lids were such a mess! 🙈
Too small to be useful. You have to get into all that trouble to refill it every other day. And it will be literally every other day because you have to wait at least a day for the paints to dry into the tiny wells! So what is the point of getting into all that trouble? (rhetoric question! lol)
It is very tiny, haha! But actually it fits perfectly into the Art Toolkit pouch, along with my bigger one, so both of them will be carried about in that. I like that they are so skinny and lightweight, but yes they are a little awkward to fill. I managed it eventually! 😂
@@BeckyTregear The best palettes for sketching when you are travelling are IMHO the small plastic folding ones. Those with the 20 colour wells because they have a good amount of mixing space and if you lose them, break them or whatever you can replace them easily. Crikey that's a long way! I'm in agreement; the lighter the better! Love Nickel Azo Yellow, it's so bright and happy!
So much fun setting up a new palette! These Art Toolkit palettes are really neat. Fun use of them for your painting! I love some of those colors. ♥️
It took forever because it is so tiny and fiddly, haha! I hope to get some use out of those colours along with the other palette! 😄

Great palette with a good array of colours. Very light and easy too carry
I would be a bit afraid of losing them. Have a great weekend, Becky.

I love the Teddybear 😄👍
A really beautiful painting Becky. I love the bears face. He looks so pretty.
Thank you - I just love that photo so much, with the bear's sweet little face. 💜
Adorable teddy!
I love tiny pallets and use them with my mini brushes for small projects. Thank you for sharing. Have a great weekend, Fran
They're so much fun to use! ❤️
Omg this is so tiny!! This reminds me I have a project I need to finish in making my own mini palette.
Sounds like fun, I love mini palettes!
Ah teddy is so lovely ❤❤.
Thank you ☺️
That painting came out great! I'd be curious to see some mixing with that weird palette, just to see what kind of range you could get with those colors.
Yes, I might need to make a mixing chart...I'm guessing there will be a lot of strange colours as a result, haha.

That German Green Umber is nice. I think diluted it would like a transparent Buff Titanium.
It's certainly a handy colour for earthy tones!

Will you take something like this and the larger kit to Greece or would you bring something bigger? Or is Greece an art free trip other than photos?

I'm surprised with how much I've used the bigger palette; I initially thought they'd be a gimmick too, but their size and portability is so useful! ❤️
Isn't it magical! It's like a tiny secret in your pocket!!
A lovely, painty secret! ❤️

That's a clever idea, I didn't think of those magnetic holder things - that would be a huge help!
Becky I found Art Spectrum brush cleaner also works on metal pallets with a stiff short chisel brush then buff with clean damp cloth
