So, the factory exhaust looks like one frigg'n HUGE pipe that looks like it came off of a Mack dumptruck! This set up you have here looks MUCH better! SOUNDS wicked! ( as it should, being as how this is the same motor in the V-Strom and SV650 from Suzuki, so I was told) My question is this: How hard was it to convert to dual exhaust? I already have a set of HD piped sitting around, and I know where I can pick one of these bikes up for way under $2k. Was also curious if you have taken it on very long rides ( 4+ hours ) and how the geometry & seat comfort was since there is noooooooooooo aftermarket support for these. Thanks!
COYOTE ADVENTURES Hey, the fitting was quite simple I kept it 2 seperate pipes and used the old heat shield (of the old exhaust from the gv650) and basically bent it and spot welded it a couple of times. in terms of riding, its very comfortable, after a couple of hours I would suggest a break as your bumb does get soar, but everybike does that, unfortunately I have sold her on to a careful owner now, but reliability of parts around the bike and the belt was on its last legs after only 10,000 km. all majorly expensive, the drive belt is about £300, around $450-500. but would I recommend getting one, yes if you dont mind spending more than you usually would on a bike, but in my opinion its biking for you haha, its part of been a biker, they cost money too.
WOW that is an expensive drive belt! Good to know. I think as much as a part of me would like to give this bike a try, in the end I would be disappointed in it as time went by. There is by comparison a Honda Shadow Aero a year older and roughly 6,500 km more on it for $575 more. But I feel is actually a better deal since 1) shaft drive 2) Honda 3) Parts for Shadows are EVERYWHERE! lol And mods would be cheap and easy because they are so plentiful. --- sigh --- I like the idea of the Hyosung because it is different. But it is that very difference that also makes me shy away from it at the same time. :-/ Silly, I know.
