Our Daughter did the DCP in 2003, when I graduated college in 2020 she suggested that I apply. Well, at the young age of 64‼️ I was accepted, my program ended in January of 23. The experience has been nothing less than MAGICAL ‼️ I have continued on in my role as a Cast Member. Would recommend the program to anyone who Loves Disney and wants to be part of the Magic. Great video explaining how it works. 👍👍
That is pretty cool! I'm in my 40's and still pursuing my degree. I always thought it would be cool to retire and work at WDW for a few years. Maybe drive one of the boats or something!
My son was in the first group that came back after covid. He loved it and was there almost a year. He is now full time and is still enjoying it. Some of this is different now. Traditions is done at Flamingo Crossing and you don't get to go in any parks until you get your self admission pass which can take a week or 2.
Looking into this some more, it doesn't seem like a great deal unless you REALLY love Disney. $431 program fee to be paid before you start, $191 - $246 per week in rent and utilities (~$830-$1066 per month), and $180 for a parking permit if you bring a car (availability not guaranteed). If you extend your program and you brought a car, you have to pay an additional $90 for another permit. If you're making $14/hr and working 40 hours a week, you're taking home ~$230-$285 per week after tax, assuming you're not also buying health insurance or contributing to a 401k.
I never knew there was a DCP until one of my former high school students applied for it. He had gone a year to community college, had always wanted to be in it, told me about it, he applied, didn't get it, applied a few months later. He was accepted, called me to tell me he got accepted, I had promised him if he got accepted I would go visit him thinking he would get accepted to Disneyland, then he told me he was going to Disney World. I hesitated thinking "Oh man, I gave him my word, I don't want to go all of the way to Florida." Congratulated him, kept my word and went to visit him. If it weren't for him and some of the benefits associated with the DCP I would have never made it out to Florida. He showed me what he could, told me all about it, and was impressed. Told him once I get old and retired maybe I'll apply so I can be a custodian so I can be outside and not have to look at financial data all of the time.
I did the DCP in 2004, the Alumni program in 2006, and an Advanced Internship in 2008. I made lifelong friends and a ton of core memories. If you are on the fence about joining, DO IT! ❤
We live 5 mins down the road from Flamingo Crossings. Anyone can go to the shopping/food complex. The only thing you can’t go to is the actual housing complex. There’s a Wendy’s, Five Guys, Firehouse, Dunkin’, Starbucks, Pieology, Walgreens, baby Target, Five Below, UPS store, brewing Company, Ice cream place, and. Japanese restaurant. There’s ALOT more to come. There’s a group of hotels that surround it and it’s a really nice area. We like living in this area very much. FYI that Target is very very very small and is more expensive than any other Target. Think a large convenience type Target with a liquor store attached. LOL
Great video Emma! So awesome to hear about your experience:) the only change now is that Traditions is done at Flamingo Crossings Village - the DCP housing- and there’s no small Magic Kingdom tour:( also, the Utilidoors tour is included in the full MK tour now😪
The thing that sucks about being DCP is that time you do work for the company, it does not count toward your seniority unfortunately. You are a cast member, but at the same time you are not a cast member. But it is a great experience and you do learn the ins and outs of the company. If you can be an intern for the company, it would be better to do that especially if they have the opportunity in the field you want to work in.
It’s funny how every time I think of a video I’d love to see, Emma does one! I applied for the DCP when I graduated in 2014, got in, but my acceptance emails went to my spam mail and I missed my shot (I’m clearly over It). Over the weekend I was celebrating my 30th birthday in MK, and decided I want to have another shot at It when I go back to school in the summer!
Thank you for sharing your experiences and information about the program. I am starting the DCP program in the fall! Im so excited!! This video was very helpful 🙌
I desperately wanted to do the DCP but couldn’t afford the semester away from school. I ended up spending 2 summers working at Cedar Point. So many fun memories I’ll cherish forever!!
Unfortunately I'm from Canada and go to a Canadian institution so I can't do the DCP, but I know the international ambassador program is similar. My friend does it and loves it, so an in-depth video on that program would be often. Do they share a housing complex?
They all live in the same housing complex now, Flamingo Crossings - for Canadians it’s called the cultural exchange program, there’s a bunch of you tube videos up now from recent participants
I'm just wondering if you have ever heard about Disney's Career Start Program? I was a part of that back in the early 90s. It was like the DCP but without the college credit. We were placed in apartments next to the college Program participants.
Great video! Also I saw you the day you filmed this! We were waiting to get our Casey’s order at the same time. I just didn’t work up the courage to say hi 😅
also, one of my fav parts of my DCP last summer was meeting Breedlove while guarding off the entrance of RotR the day it didn’t open at all😅 Breedlove is the sweetest🫶🏻
The DCP seems to have changed a lot since I did it 20 years ago! I worked at Fort Wilderness, but it was basically the graveyard shift lol. Loved it though!
I did a college program back in 2003 doing quick service at MK for $6/hour. Money management was definitely difficult but I loved the job so much I applied & did another program. In 2006 I got attractions & worked Rock 'n' Roller Coaster & then extended my program to work at Tower of Terror. Minimum wage increased so I got $6.50/hr. I'm happy to hear that they are giving CPs more than minimum wage now.
Ok this video was super accurate! I didn't realize it was that competitive and I wonder if that is something new. I got accepted my first try right before I turned 21. I was in community college at the time and I even got college credit. I like how you shared that might not be the case now. I lived at Vista Way and didn't have a car so taking the bus they provided to MK took a long time. Especially if you worked long hours that day. I will never forget my experience there. I learned so much. I still talk to people from my program. I lived with 5 other girls back in I wanna say either 2002 or 2003. This new Flamingo Crossing looks amazing! So jealous! I worked for Disney outside of DCP later in life, same at MK and I liked it again. Just curious how did you get your job at All Ears? I love your guys stuff! We used a lot of the tips from IG when I celebrated my 40th there. Not sure where the time went from when I worked there. But your video was well presented and it brought me back. So thank you.
Do they take in to consideration the applicant's major? My son is studying to be a veterinarian and really wants to work with the animals in DAK. We live in California, (he's been a New Yorker for most of his life though) and it would be kind of a waste to have him working at Casey's Corner when he has knowledge of animal biology.
I was at work and this lady starts talking about this channel and how it was recommended she eat where I work because one of you in the Channel said so.
The DCP accepts applicants from colleges across the country. Living in the DCP housing at Flamingo Crossing is not required; but, it’s usually the best/cheapest option unless you already live in the Orlando area.
This old and outdated program is ripe for reform. 💯 But since that type of reform requires lots of money, time, and resources, Disney is probably content to just keep playing the numbers game. Minimal effort, minimal resources, minimal risk. And if the participant leaves or gets fired, big deal. Just move on to the next name on the list! I mean, they don't even bother with 20-min phone interviews anymore! 💯 But the problem with this type of short term thinking is that it eventually becomes noticeable in the parks. And these aren't afternoon trips to state fairgrounds we're talking about. They're very expensive, once-in-a-lifetime vacations! 💰
Emma your information is terrific and you’re so much fun to listen to, but there are definite problems with your mic-it’s picking up absolutely everything around you and drowning you out-might need a different brand. The extraneous conversations are realistic, but definitely a barrier to hear what you’re trying to say on the last couple of videos .

That’s so cool! Just shows you it’s never too late to do what you love/want! Good for you!
Congrats on graduating college & living & fulfilling your dreams. Were you the only older one in your classes or was there more?
That is pretty cool! I'm in my 40's and still pursuing my degree. I always thought it would be cool to retire and work at WDW for a few years. Maybe drive one of the boats or something!
never knew this program let any one older then 30 in it

It's been awesome to watch Emma blossom 🌸 and come into her own in these videos. ❤️
Yes, it took some time but, she eventually came out of her shell.
I did the DCP in 2004, the Alumni program in 2006, and an Advanced Internship in 2008. I made lifelong friends and a ton of core memories. If you are on the fence about joining, DO IT! ❤
2004 represent! Vista way!
I’m currently in the DCP. So many opportunities to advance your career and/or move to a professional internship.
I love it!

Awesome video Emma!! Thanks for sharing your experience and in such full great details! Awesome video ! 🙂

Oh nice! Where at. I work for corporate and part time as a Pixar pier manager
I desperately wanted to do the DCP but couldn’t afford the semester away from school. I ended up spending 2 summers working at Cedar Point. So many fun memories I’ll cherish forever!!
Cedar Point is the best place ever if you love rollercoasters.
Just got accepted for my first program and I graduated last May!! Excited to see what’s in store!!
Thank you for letting us know! I’m planning on applying to the program and knowing more about it really helps!
I always click on the Emma and Miranda thumbnails. Neither ever disappoint. But I haven't seen Miranda on the channel in weeks! 😥
I’m doing the DCP in the fall I’m so excited and surprisingly the application process was easy since they brought back the phone interview.
Nice did you get to go where you wanted? I work for corporate now but started as attractions in 2016
Unfortunately I'm from Canada and go to a Canadian institution so I can't do the DCP, but I know the international ambassador program is similar. My friend does it and loves it, so an in-depth video on that program would be often. Do they share a housing complex?

Wow! Vista Way and CP Fall 2000 and Advanced management internship summer and fall 2001, here. A lot has changed, but that was 24 years ago!!! 😂
If I go back to school, I definitely plan on looking into the DCP! Always wanted to do it!
The DCP seems to have changed a lot since I did it 20 years ago! I worked at Fort Wilderness, but it was basically the graveyard shift lol. Loved it though!
At 3:45, you 'll noticed the end of a full Friendship Faire Show in the background. Should've waited after.

So it's a minimum wage job where they provide housing but you have to pay for it?
I'm in this video twice. How neat!
Hahahaa 🤭
This was a really cool video. I've been thinking about maybe doing the DCP someday, and I found a lot of the info to be helpful and informative ^_^
My DD is headed for a DCP soon. This is helpful!!
Really interesting! I wish I did this when I was in college
Ok this video was super accurate! I didn't realize it was that competitive and I wonder if that is something new. I got accepted my first try right before I turned 21. My dad’s cousin was one of the inaugural partners of the program he was a professor at Central Michigan University
I'm planning to apply once I start college in the fall!
Could you do a park hopping challenge between Epcot and Hollywood studios?? Riding almost all the rides?
I didn’t get in every single time I applied 14 years ago. I applied about 7 times.
No they don’t they place you were they need people but they may put him in DAK you never know.
I hope it works out for those who applied 🥺🥺🥺 I'm praying I get in too...
My brother did the college program. I'm very sure it was his first time there. Our dad says my brother hates Disney World now.
Very interesting stuff!
I was at work and this lady starts talking about this channel and how it was recommended she eat where I work because one of you in the Channel said so.
Another comment from 2016 Fall Alum : My only downside is what she said: money management! I was here 2016, so it was 10/hour. Save before you come
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Do you have to go to their college to get a job at Disney.? Also, are you required to live in student housing?
The DCP accepts applicants from colleges across the country. Living in the DCP housing at Flamingo Crossing is not required; but, it’s usually the best/cheapest option unless you already live in the Orlando area.

They still do phone interviews. They removed the web-based interview section of the process.
Good job on this one. Except your Flamingo Crossing info was wrong.

this doesnt seem much better than trump university.
Please get this girl a microphone. She is very hard to hear in any video she does
