Criss was the riff master. Deceptively simple riffs. That guy laid down some serious grooves. Back in the eighties me and my crowd all thought savatage was way better than metallica or any of those type of bands (slayer, megadeth, anthrax, etc). All it came down to was some jews chose to spend more money selling metallica than savatage
Where is his grave? I live less than an hour from where he grew up, so if his grave is here in Florida I would love to go. I've been a Savatage fan since a couple weeks after the original version of the Sirens album dropped.
@@johnk.2508 When I went to visit some kid walked up and asked me about Criss. Told me he didn't know much about him but heard he could play the guitar pretty good. I was "yeah kid he was pretty good."
Love u Jon..I met u all at ruby's on Hillsborough. U and criss are gifts from god u left a presence. Still do ..ur God's gift to music and humanity stay strong ..
1990, or so, saw them on tour with Testament. Got kicked out of the Testament show for surfing the crowd. Lucky me, Savatage are loading their gear, see standing out back, and they invite me into the bus. Criss, was a great guy, even offered me a longneck Bud. Got all their autographs, but Jon, who never surfaced. Still have the “Dr Killdrums,” Stick
Criss oliva is my favorite guitar player off all times, I heard him for the first time in a radio rock show in 1987, I fall in love with the band savatage and with him, since then I bought all the albums of the band and also saw the band live in 2002 at wacken open air at germany, without criss who died in 1993, rest in piece master oliva, he had total control over his guitar, I recommend another riff, it's the opening riff from the song Sammy and tex from the masterpiece album streets a rock opera, the best concept album ever
Yes my little brother never got the credit he should have and niether did savatage oh well it was the fans that matter to us thank you all

Hall of the mountain king is one of the most iconic riff in metal period!
A (polite) riff machine.
Saw Criss on the "Gutter Ballet" tour, epic guitar shredder, my favorite. Miss you Criss.
Review please?
Absolutely the BEST !!!!!!! 🙏🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🎸🎸🎸🤘🤘🤘
Love Criss .. 💘💘💘💘💘
Hell yeah!🤘
Solid guitar player! Still one of my favorites 😎
Smooth thrash metal riffs. Talent is the only way that that can be pulled off.

R.I.P CRISS OLIVA THE BEST GUITARIST MY FAVORITE ALL THE TIME UNTIL TODAY

You are too lucky to see them live.I always see Sammy's riff and the whole song as a different one in Criss' entire catalogue.Nice choice
💥🔥🎸🎸🎸🎸💥🔥🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🤘🤝👊🎼🔥
10 times Criss told Dave, hold my beer!
Riff Master. Up with Iommi.
Ok I don't know you but when it comes to Savatage we think EXACTLY the same. You are obviously heavy riff driven and I dig that about you
Sorry, but Hall of the Mountain King should have had at least 5 songs featured. It's the freaking best metal album Savatage ever made.
Yeah but it's not their only record and all these riff in this video rule too.
