    Great getting back out on the river in Chester, more rowing and footage to come in the new year. Maybe even some useful tips on UT2 sessions too. Enjoy your Christmas and a few days break from rowing (hopefully)!

    Do you use a heart rate monitor?? If so, what brand and would you recommend for someone trying to get faster? Glad the vids are back:))

      I do use one but it's a super cheap chest strap and watch set from Argos. I may well look at getting one that connects to the concept2 - in which case I'll do a review in a video!

      Matthew Franks I can recommend Garmin belt, you can get it off concept2.co.uk and is compatible with PM4 and PM5’s. This may be an issue however if you don’t row at a club but in a city gym. Such gyms mostly have PM3 monitors that are compatible with Polar belts only so you would need a receiver for your Garmin belt, either a watch or ANT+ adapter for your smartphone

    Cool video!! Thank you. I like the intro clips with your morning routine. I got to spend Christmas with my family (dad also named Tom) for the first time in many years and they were happy to hear I got into rowing. I told them it’s videos like yours that got me interested in the first place! Happy New Year you most handsome kinsman! Haha

      Hi Russell, that's so cool - glad my videos have sparked an interest in the sport & it genuinely means a lot. Thanks for the feedback as well, happy new year!

    Great video! what drag factor do you use and what value would you advise for a novice?

    • @TomMillington
      @TomMillington  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks David, I use a drag factor of 136-138. Although I'm guilty of not checking it exactly every time. It's based on your weight really, rather than being novice or elite - 136-138 is good for a heavyweight male I'd suggest, maybe slightly less for a lightweight (around 130)

    What are your views on watching TV whilst rowing? I tend to do 3x6k with two episodes of a TV show on my iPad to give me something other than my rowing to focus on

      I don't see an issue with it and I used to watch football matches whilst doing UT2 haha. If you have the ability to do that and you aren't completely switching off on your splits and workout, then any distraction is a good distraction if it leads to more metres covered each week!

      I was racing the guy next to me who was pulling 2:26 at rate 37. So I had to bring out the big 2:03 splits.
