So happy you're reviewing the Platypus. I ordered one in Spetember, took delivery just before Christmas, and I LOVE it. It is such a good gun overall. Accurate, reliable, and so very consistent. Regarding "snappy", I find it much less snappy than either my 1911A1 in 45ACP or my 10mm 1911.
@@durwoodrobison7800 to me it made sense for it to have fit and finish issues because of the sheer amount of customization available even for the smallest parts.
@@MrDoverfield Not to me. If you pay $1600 for a fully custom firearm, it better not have fit/finish issues. As I said, mine is perfect. None of the reviews I've watched or read have had anything bad to say except for it being "snappy", and I feel that is in comparison to other 2011 style guns with a heavier bull barrel. The gun is excellent, and I can't wait for them to announce a 10mm version.

I've always like 1911s, but I'm also from the newer school of the military who shoots 9mm and joke that I have the wrists of a 5 year old. I think you helped me figure out my next purchase.
And...the slide mass was designed for 45 ACP so the recoil spring must be pretty light for 9mm's and the slide will then hit the stop in recoil a bit harshly which might be what he's feeling. 9mm's come in such varying weights that if you spring it to run 115's it's going to batter itself with 147's....and if sprung for the heavy bullets it's not going to cycle the light ones.
It's crazy that Browning named it the 1911 and then it ended up being adopted in 1911. I think they need to make these in 10mm. I'd buy one in a second.

It's literally just a super light pistol, with a really heavy recoil spring, that's also why it's 100% reliable with 33 rounders. Drop the recoil spring a weight, put in a standard guide rod, and it's buttery smooth. Design is from safety up is 1:1 a 1911. Even just dropping the recoil spring makes it a wicked flat shooter.
