“The greatest play that never happened.” It was cause that dang penalty flag. Still, it was so good they kept it in the ‘92 NC edition Sports Illustrated. My dad bought one and it’s still at his house.

@@louieo.blevinsmusic4197 It was still very impactful tho cuz if he hadn’t stripped the ball they would’ve had the ball at the 10 yard line cuz the penalty was against bama. Huge play…

@@joshberry66 oh snap. Never thought about it like that. Either way was still a dope play. My dad still has his ‘92 sports illustrated copy. The play is in it with a pic (maybe more than one) from a great angle(s). Roll Tide!

I watched this game over and over as a kid dreaming to witness a national championship of my own. I was 2 years old when this happened. Little did I know!

Fun fact: With Jay Barker having 18 total passing yards and Greg McElroy with 58 total passing yards Bama only needed 76 total combined passing yards to win the ‘92 and ‘09 NC games. Anyways, this was technically the 1st time I saw my Crimson Tide win a NC at age 3. Not only did we get one over on Warren Sapp but also Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in this game. We’ve def been enjoying south Florida talent at Bama lately especially at WR. Roll Tide!

Alabama had a combined zero passing touchdowns in four consecutive national title game appearances - against Arkansas in 1979, Miami in 1992, Texas in 2009, and LSU in 2011. The stat sounds bad, but Bama won each of those games by multiple scores.

Miami's only TD was on that ridiculous punt return...otherwise this is a mauling

Alabama should have had at least 4 more points. Spin the ball penalty at the goal line was a fairly garbage call.
