    Very cool. I like your videos. Most TH-camrs are too excited in their videos or they fall asleep while talking but you do a great job.

    I once worked for a Dutch synth company that went bust pretty quickly. The synths we built used the CEM33XX series. After the bankrupcy I personally built as many synths from the remaining parts for a con man that had bought all the parts but did not pay me in full. Sweet sour memories from the start of my working life..

    I'm currently building a synth with all these new versions of the old CEM33xx chips. It's fantastic that they are available again! This module is great and very cheap for only €99

      Even better that you can get the sub module for 25bucks to just add a full analog vco to a module.
      I guess I'm gonna get some and build some voices.

    Too much fun going on here. I’m telling Mom! 🤪
    “Tap that triangle” is my new band name. So what was our main take away from this video?
    We each need one hundred oscillators! Fifty minimum. Just an entire giant skiff of em is my Dream. Just need to know I’m never gonna run out. One or two have a blowout... plenty left to tap!
    I have some of these 3340s ready to build around. Have the 3394, too. Home brew DIY schematics are a little scary, but I’m sure I’ll tackle them soon. I hope...
    Thanks for another very well made video, man!

    do you have any videos showing how you would tune a VCO that was just built? I would love to build this, just not totally understanding Electro-Smiths directions for tuning it.

    • @QuincasMoreira
      @QuincasMoreira 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't! but it's pretty straight forward. Use a good v/OCt reference, like a Keystep CV out or Midi 2 CV converter, and a tuner. Play octaves and turn trim pots until it tunes over many octaves.

  • @beatrute2677
    @beatrute2677 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice vid mate. One question, how are you getting midi from your keystep into the VCO?

    • @QuincasMoreira
      @QuincasMoreira  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No MIDI, the Keystep has CV outputs

    Great video! I have been wanting to delve into the world of Eurorack for some time and am looking to build many of my first modules. Is this one of the better sounding VCOs in your opinion? The price is attractive to me and the chip is obviously a classic. I imagine they all have a different character, but I’d love to know your favorites in kit form (and otherwise)

    • @QuincasMoreira
      @QuincasMoreira 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! Yes, this is as good a classic VCO as you can get, leaves nothing to be desired IMO, great place to start. Have fun!

    • @QuincasMoreira
      @QuincasMoreira 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StepDub So, I did some tests. There is a slight pitch fluctuation when changing the PW. It's barely noticeable, it had never bothered me in actual use, but yes, it's there, a couple of cents worth. I still consider it one of my favorite analog VCOs.

      @@QuincasMoreira Many thanks for this research. I have been trying for months to get three MFOS VCOs not to sync when tuned to unison or multiples, without success. I’ve reluctantly come to the conclusion that the only way forward is to replace them and don’t want to swap one issue for another, and these are the top choice. Again thank you for the test and kudos for sharing your progress and experience.

    Seems that HardSync misses some periods (like the "bug" in Neutron's HS). One thing I don't like with CEM3340: it's too conform, sterile. Sounds almost like a DCO.

    • @QuincasMoreira
      @QuincasMoreira 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Disagree, nothing sterile about it to my ears!
      I can easily make it unstable, so having the stability to start from is nice . But yeah, I agree there's something not quite right about the Hard Sync

      @KiR_3d 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@QuincasMoreira OK, I'm just picky :) You can find about that HS issue in modding/hardware forums regarding to Neutron. People are fixing these schemes already :)
