Good job i would suggest a second tank to pure off the black water from the fish waste connected before going to the plants will have less gulps and less maintenance.

The fish waste is used to feed the plants. It's the same as using cow,chicken,bat and other animal poop for the soil when farming in ground. The fish waste creates a good Bactria that breaks down the waste water into nitrite so the plants can absorb the nutrient. Basically what kills the fish will feed the plants and what the plants eat will clean the water. You need the right amount of plants and fish so their wouldn't be to much waste and not enough plants.
