Re; Tie downs: When I was a fresh-faced young construction worker the grizzled old owner/operator of the const business told me: "Always keep the straps with the boom truck. The boom truck can't do anything without the straps and the straps can't do anything without the crane". This sage advice is simple yet it stayed with me and applies to many things in life.
Matt's generous nature is clearly shown by the wonderful present he gave to Ed rescuing the Golden Nugget and arranging for all the works to be carried out by his generous friends. I love watching his videos. Jeff , Shrewsbury UK.
Does Ed have any idea how big the internet is and just how many people love him and his story? Probably not to its fullest extent, but Big hearty handshake from Denver. Maybe ill road trip out there one day .
I think he has some idea now, even if he hasn't been a regular user. He's a pretty sharp guy, and is well aware of the fact that he's hanging out with people who are on TH-cam even if he doesn't regularly consume it all. Being an old body-shop and paint guy, first thing he wanted to do after "the reveal" was to watch Bobby's videos of the process - which he and Matt obliged him with. He had some interesting comments about it all.
So why do I enjoy these videos so much. Someone sent me one and I have been hooked. I know nothing about the desert or that type of sand. I drive my Land Cruiser over the dunes in Carova Beach in the Outer Banks of NC. I haven't been stuck, but you can bet I'm going to order one of Matt's magic ropes! And another thing. Matt seems like a great guy to work for and his videos are all G rated which I really like. I hope others note that they don't have to shock everything with F this and F that. They whole crew seems like a happy family and I hope if I get a chance to visit my cousin in AZ next year, you can bet I'm going to stop by and see the folks at Matt's place.
They're just such a wholesome channel to watch! No profanity beeps, showing their fails and not just successes, and using teamwork to get the job done. Best content on TH-cam!
When it panned from Matt on the phone to the backseat I was like "How does the Golden Nugget have that much space in the back?!" Took me a second to realize they'd switched vehicles, haha
Matt, big fan of your show here next door in NV. Just wanted to say I greatly appreciate your respecting your elderly, Ed. It is fast becoming a rarity these days. Love the show and the Mayberry style friendliness. Keep up the great work. 👍👍
Everytime I see the morrvair I think to myself, man that is seriously such a beautiful rig from top to bottom inside out. Beast of a machine right there, and genuinely Eye candy!
Matt did a great job helping the customers out and staying calm when the guy didn't call and cancel the tow. No respect anymore. Glad you got the banana fixed the morrvair does need a break from time to time! 😊
Hey Matt! I wanted to share a method of tow rope control. I Love your videos! Brings back a lot of grand memories of our gang getting stuck in places you would LOVE. Up here in the Pacific Northwest, we have hundreds of miles of old logging roads and trees so dense it makes finding a bonfire at night a challenge. So find an old stainless steel 102-inch whip antenna with the giant spring on the bottom that was used for CB Radios back in the day. Put a bracket next to your receiver hitch to mount it by some method that is easy to remove. Cut it at about the halfway point and bend the end to resemble a spring. Now when you use the rope, twist it through the spring end and when you are towing and let off the throttle it will lift the rope. When the rope lifts it will help keep it from dragging and give the person in the vehicle that is being towed a visual indication that you are slowing down. Not sure how heavy your ropes are but it worked fine with the 1inch Tow/Mooring Hauser line I used for snatching vehicles out of the mud.
Greetings from Colorado! Glad to see the Golden Nugget back on its feet. It's good to see Ed is happy. I have the utmost regards for you, your family and your team.
Glad to hear you got the Banana running good again. If you wrap your draw bar in masking tape till it fits tight in the receiver you can totally eliminate hitch rattle, wears out after a while but it always has lasted for a trip for me.
Hey Matt, I just wanted to say Great Job ! I really enjoy the family type atmosphere and can appreciate all the work you guys do and all the miles you drive in all kinds of weather. Can’t wait for the Big wrecker to be in use. Lizzy is a great part of your videos as well. Just ordered one of your tow kits for my son in Oregon. He has the sister to the banana.

Mabey the Golden Nugget Weather report for the day. CROUD PLEASER!!! 🎀🎱🏆🎯
I am amazed at how you all stay so clean amidst the repairs and the recoveries! My other half is a tow truck driver and he always comes home greasy and smelling like a salvage yard! 😀
Awesome to see Ed in the nugget! Peanut makes me nervous running around when y'all are yankin'..... I always worry about the pups! Keep up the good work.
You guys are too cool. My oldest son turned me on to the Golden Nugget and now I'm totally hooked, better than anything ever on cable, well done everybody.
Great video and glad to see the nugget being used! Sometimes it is hard keep the tongue totally in check. It lot better than what he could have said to the people. Keep up helping people out.
I know. It's kinda funny. I wonder how many winches he owns at this point lol. I'm surprised he wasn't into them at first considering he runs a towing business, never seen a flatbed or wrecker without a winch 🤷♂️
His problem was never with winches, it was with how the winch was originally mounted to the Banana with the hitch mount. It was heavy, it was awkward, it stuck out, he had to remember to put it in the back of the Banana before heading out from a recovery, and he had to mount it and hook up the battery every time he needed it. Most recoveries, by the time he has it set up and ready to go, he could have snatched them out already. Now that he has the winches properly mounted, it's always on the front and ready to go, there's no faffing about to get them ready, just pull the line out and hook it up.
Matt I have ran across over a dozen new thermostats that have ended up being bad!! I even no a guy that ended building a brand new 327 sbc and test drove it several times and everything checked out ok!! On his way home it ended up getting hot and locked the brand new motor up!! The motor had to be pulled and rebuilt again!!! When disassembling the motor we checked everything out to try and figure out why it locked up because everything checked out good before the guy took it home!! We decided to just bench test the thermostat the first couple times it opened up but on the third time it did not open up!!! I learned that just by checking out a new thermostat on the bench you definitely need to check it a minimum of 10 different times to make sure that it will open all 10 times!!! It was a brand new thermostat when we rebuilt the motor!!! It definitely can piss a guy off when a cheap 10$ thermostat can take out a brand new engine just that quickly!!! Definitely definitely check out any thermostat before installing them into a engine!!! Hopefully this will help you out in the long run Matt!!! This is not a joke either it really happened!!! Awesome video buddy and remember keep up all the hard work buddy!!!!
Matt is the ONE fella I have watched and watched and watched and I have come to one conclusion this man knows how to drive... you know how many times I've seen a tow truck get stuck, Granted matt has couple times but they was REALLY bad areas
HUGE difference between Matt's vehicles and a tow truck ..... Regular tow trucks (and yes there are lots of 4*4 tow trucks out there) aren't made for going where Matt has specifically built his vehicles to go.

Those people play a bad game. Not calling you back and letting you know they don’t need you! Communication is the name of the game. Hey great video Matt. Glad you got your overheating problem fixed. 👍👍👍❤️
Sounds like Paul and Robby didn't get the roof rib rattle taken care of in the Nugget. Perhaps a few rattle pads between the ribs and the roof panel will resolve that. Great to see Matt and Ed out and about in it doing the important stuff!
@@williamlloyd3769 Or an old leather shoe, rubber boot, inner tube, fuel hose split its length, etc. Could also use real panel adhesive too but where's the fun in that!
I was surprise too. Paul even mentioned it. Most vehicles have some thin foam padded tape or something. As for the headliner, not positive, but I don't think those things ever had one.
@@MaxNafeHorsemanship If they did have a headliner it was probably an option perhaps dealer installed. Since the ribs are held in place with fasteners, originally they probably had a gasket or pad of some sort. Locally we have a JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) Vehicle Distributor, Montu Motors that brings in vehicles that meet the 25 year exemption rule and therefore can now be imported/registered here in the US and there are a number of unique Mini/Micro SUV type vehicles that you can have brought into the US like the PAO, BE-1, Safari or S-Cargo, etc, etc plus many of the diesel versions of vehicles that were sold in the US only as gasoline powered. They'll primarily be right hand drive however may have appointments and options that were not available here. Might be interesting to see what the JDM version of Ed's LJ20 was like when sold in Japan. Perhaps there might even be a Mazda version of it too.
Hi Matt,Here's a tip i used when i knew my Honda MAY overheat from a leaking head gasket..500,000 miles on my good old car. i carried a 1 1/2 gallon pump up weed sprayer filled with tap water, eventually when the gasket blew ,i just pulled over and USED the sprayer to MIST the whole radiator only, that cooled it to 100 then i could open the rad cap and slowly add water.i left the cap loose and drove it 25 miles in commute traffic no issues.Pouring water on the rad is ,soso, but MISTING spray will Carry the heat away like crazy ONLY then can you open the cap ,it's simple science really.Spend 20 bucks, plus you can cool PEANUT DOWN,haha
Only thing missing in this video is Lizzy's great attitude towards work and the sunshine she brings that many have mentioned. She's always sitting behind Matt. We miss seeing her in the videos.
I think she was oblivious to Matt's comment of "thanks for letting me know" suggesting that maybe she should have let him know. Some people just weren't raised to know how to be polite.

Great to see the nugget out and about that first one was a little rude to say the least and scary when a battery is all kinds of puffed up. I'd like to adopt Ed as my Grampa!
Matts such a nice guy. He gets stiffed by an inconsiderate woman, has to deal with people who drive right past the “don’t drive past this line” sign, and still gives out free t-shirts and water. Much respect for taking it in stride and not letting it get you down or ruin your day!
Good observation, I missed that there did seem to be a theme of rude or reckless people (viz., Miss No-Cancel, Mr. Trespasser, Mr. Speedy) except for the last guy who kindly tipped Skeeter with pulled pork. 🐷
@@Oudeis000Mr. Speedy didn't really seem rude or inconsiderate. He just made an honest mistake, whether he thought he was going slower than he was or he thought his rig was more capable or he didn't think the that trail was rough enough to flip the thing, one way or another he just made a mistake than anyone could make.
I freaking love Ed and I love how you guys look after him. So awesome
Matt's generous nature is clearly shown by the wonderful present he gave to Ed rescuing the Golden Nugget and arranging for all the works to be carried out by his generous friends. I love watching his videos. Jeff , Shrewsbury UK.
I like fact you guys keep Ed involved. The Banana makes me miss my '97 Cherokee; And, I LOVE that Morrvair build!!!
Does Ed have any idea how big the internet is and just how many people love him and his story? Probably not to its fullest extent, but Big hearty handshake from Denver. Maybe ill road trip out there one day .
Hey from Lakewood
I think he has some idea now, even if he hasn't been a regular user. He's a pretty sharp guy, and is well aware of the fact that he's hanging out with people who are on TH-cam even if he doesn't regularly consume it all. Being an old body-shop and paint guy, first thing he wanted to do after "the reveal" was to watch Bobby's videos of the process - which he and Matt obliged him with. He had some interesting comments about it all.
12:50 "Hey, here's some pulled pork" 🤣🤣 That's a good customer right there. Good to see there's still good people out there
I love how the dog lifts its head and looks at the camera in every video when Matt says "and Peanut is with us today" Part of the team......👍
Peanut is such a cutie 🥰🥰
Boy. Scout Motto, "Be Prepared." Keep up the Good Work.
Love to see the Nugget coming out as a back up on a few of your recoveries. It's a solid looking machine.
Some peoples kids! That lady couldn’t call and let you know? Awesome rescues. So glad the Banana back up and running full force. You guys rock!
Matt, big fan of your show here next door in NV. Just wanted to say I greatly appreciate your respecting your elderly, Ed. It is fast becoming a rarity these days. Love the show and the Mayberry style friendliness. Keep up the great work. 👍👍
Matt, you are too kind. If I went out on a call and they didn’t bother to call and say they don’t need me anymore, I would charge them! 😠🙏☘️
Everytime I see the morrvair I think to myself, man that is seriously such a beautiful rig from top to bottom inside out. Beast of a machine right there, and genuinely Eye candy!
Could you tell me what motor he put in it?
@@willbutler2639 I think he said it's just a small block 350.
Sounds glorious too.
Looks like the drivers side passenger window is cracked. Ouch!
@@brahtrumpwonbigly7309 It's a 5.3 ls from a suburban if I remember right. Could be a 6.0 but I'm almost certain it's a 5.3
No matter how busy the day is. When Matt’s off-road drops a video Some how I find time. It’s magical.
That was awesome taking Golden Nugget through the drive through.
1:30 Matt’s professional sarcasm😂👏👏
Greetings from Colorado! Glad to see the Golden Nugget back on its feet. It's good to see Ed is happy. I have the utmost regards for you, your family and your team.
Glad to hear you got the Banana running good again. If you wrap your draw bar in masking tape till it fits tight in the receiver you can totally eliminate hitch rattle, wears out after a while but it always has lasted for a trip for me.
Good advice! Sounds like a Matt fix 😉
Awesome ED...
Thank you for the weather reports...
It's great to see you in the Golden Nugget...!!!!
He has the sister to the banana.
wow Ed looks excited like he was truly being driven around "bonus " New truck and a faithful driver!!
proper thing looking good in the passenger seat. Should be a nice clip in each of your next episodes .Each time there is someone else driving Ed around with him waving to the crowd and showing he is proud.
Same here!! Jus want lil pups to be careful
My thoughts exactly, 100% I even said out loud, "somebody get the dog!!!"
I was thinking same thing. Needs to be in vehicle when the actual pulling starts.
Fun to see Matt & Ed going for milkshakes in the Nugget ‼️💛
(And, kinda crushn on Skeeter ‼️)
You guys are too cool. My oldest son turned me on to the Golden Nugget and now I'm totally hooked, better than anything ever on cable, well done everybody.
Great video and glad to see the nugget being used! Sometimes it is hard keep the tongue totally in check. It lot better than what he could have said to the people. Keep up helping people out.
It’s been a great week for the MORR FANS! Love all that you do! An you guys are an amazing group of people ❤️
🍻
Sure has!
Im glad to see u guys driving the Golden nugget together
I've always wondered how often you have to take out your air filter and blow out the sand/dust. Keep up the great work!
Has to be an almost daily occurrence lol
ABSOLUTELY never
Was wondering the same thing myself.
I'd bet money its not as often as it needs...lol
The milkshakes at the beginning were really cool!! Ed, you are awesome!
Matt went from not being sold on winches to using them for absolutely everything. Love to see the progression of recovery techniques.
I think the biggest factor in that is the switch to synthetic winch lines.
And the freedom which line
@@philb5593 I think the biggest factor is, that he actually has a winch mounted to his vehicles :D
Loved the way you handled the no calling to call off the tow entitled little prick. Great job. "Thanks for letting me know!" CLICK!!!!
DAIRY QUEEN! Give them MAN A SPONSORSHIP!
Matt has some mad skills driving in sand and recovery in all types of conditions such a cool dude love the content 👍👍🤜🤛
These dudes always look like they’re having a great time doing what they do, keep up the good work 🙏🤝
Operation underground railroad

My God... be still my heart!!!... Matt is actually WILLINGLY using his WINCH!!!! 😂
You: "So what happened?"
Him "I was going too fast"
Me: "A completely honest person accepting responsibility for their actions? What? What is this 21st century unicorn, in this world of people?"
I've seen what it looks like for a battery to blow up its not pretty at all . Glad you got everyone out and you and Skeeter was safe Matt .
This has become my favorite place on YT. Great bunch of people that provide clean entertainment. Love this crew. Inspires me to get an XJ as well. When I see the Banana and the Rudicon it makes me want all the XJ's. 😂
Matt you have an amazing team no matter what combination of people that you have on the job. It is messed up the customer didn't have enough respect to call you and let you know they got out.
Even in limp mode the banana is still a work horse I knew you would figure out how to fix the banana
The only thing you are missing is Lizzy she is a vital part of the team in my opinion
I’ve never been so early! Had to tow my buddys jeep the other day and I feel like all of Matt’s videos helped me get him out safe.
I like how you went through the Banana and eliminating problems one at a time.
Matt: "I know why he rolled. He was going way too fast!"
Customer: "I was going too fast back there."
Matt knows his clients very well... 😁😇👻
Those people play a bad game. Not calling you back and letting you know they don’t need you! Communication is the name of the game. Hey great video Matt. Glad you got your overheating problem fixed. 👍👍👍❤️
Love your channel, Matt! Always an interesting watch. And they're a great length too.
I love Ed! ❤️ thanks for sharing him with us
Sounds like Paul and Robby didn't get the roof rib rattle taken care of in the Nugget. Perhaps a few rattle pads between the ribs and the roof panel will resolve that.
Great to see Matt and Ed out and about in it doing the important stuff!
They probably just figured Ed can't hear it.
That’s why you keep your old neoprene wetsuit around to cut a chunk out of it!
Haven't seen Randy in a while. He was a fun camera man, always laughing at everything...
@@olchat2012 Yeah Randy too!
I love how the gate keeper girl to sand hollow laughed when she saw yall lol
That lady could of atleast said sorry for doing that :/ some people
Wait till she calls back
I’d mark her number in my phone.. but I’m sure Matt would still run out and help her still. He’s that kind of guy.
I think she was oblivious to Matt's comment of "thanks for letting me know" suggesting that maybe she should have let him know. Some people just weren't raised to know how to be polite.
"Thanks for letting me know." (marinated in sarcasm)
Matt got his dig in.
@@YTSuxAxx I’m a millennial and would never do that.
After you get done building the beast, build a mini wrecker out of a Jeep Comanche just for UTV's. Nice job as always.
The Golden Nugget needs to go to SEMA.
Suzuki company should sponsor
Exactly 💯
Get out your big check book if you plan on displaying at SEMA in your own booth.

I cannot say why... but for some reason..."here's so and so with the weather" always gets the biggest smile from me.
Just so you know, I for one would not be sad if there was a larger portion of your fabrication content. I know you all have a schedule but it may be time to explore a second channel dedicated to fabrication. New builds, tweaking old builds, even repairs and maintenance. Just a thought. Love everything you do.
Having invested 100s of hrs chasing down auto/machine issues...... good job gentlemen... thanks.
Still great entertainment, don't change a thing. I've been watching every episode since the beginning. Great editing and humble hardworking folk still make this the best channel out there. Great job all!!
I hope they never jump the shark like just about every good TV show has done. If it works, don't fix it.
Coolest rescue rig i've ever seen lol.. How much does a typical rescue even cost?
PLEASE put a tiny bit of rubber insulation between the roof and the bow on the Nugget 😂
I loved my 91 Jeep Cherokee Laredo, basic and tough. The straight 6 engine is one of the best
When the Banana is in limp mode and Matt can still make a sxs recovery with a trailer, it really goes to show how important Matt's skills and knowledge are in getting in and out of the dunes. 👌
He's a freaking genius!!
Its really nice to watch videos that arent full of foul language. Thats why i watch your videos. That and they're really entertaining.
Great to see the nugget out and about that first one was a little rude to say the least and scary when a battery is all kinds of puffed up. Still blows me away seeing the alternator down so low on the American built models, for reference in Australia thats where the aircon hangs and the alternator hangs at almost rocker cover height makes them a little harder to get wet 😁. Glad you got the banana sorted love that beast not that im xj biased at all 👍🇦🇺
And makes replacing one a pain. My older one had it up high. I wish they had not moved it!
Everything I’ve seen the alternator is uptop but I know the morrvair is running a Chevy engine and the jeep, Jeep’s are canoe for being finicky
@@razgriz4118 on the Morrvair I believe it is but this was in regards to the banana and the xj jeeps having the alternator fitted lower left side of the vehicle driver side for those in the states whereas in Australia they mounted it top rhs at rocker cover level
You've build some fantastic rigs to be able to tow on that sand. I've got an older RZR, stock sized tires that sands just sucks you down and robs every bit of power the engine can deliver making it hard to get up many of those hills without trying to drag anything else along for the ride. It's much finer than the sand I encounter in most other areas
For those that want to start an off road recovery tow service you can see there is way more to it than just showing up onsite with a rope....way way more to it...If you had to pay someone to fix your outfit every time something got broken you would go broke besides all the wait time to get it fixed...Matt needs to walk us thru his set up for us newbies...The yard , Trucks & trailers ropes dogs kids....dis dat and the other thing to be in business...and for all you wantabee tow dudes and gals if you need a live onsite " Ed " for your off road recovery in Hawaii... I'm your man...
Good job not running out of gas!
Also including the Banana, Morrvair, and GN all in the same video. It seems your rigs are causing more trouble now that you're not ignoring them! Good to see the Banana getting some love. 🍌
I like how crowds gather to see a recovery. Matt's probably a local star in Sand Hallow, lol...
So exited just got my golden nugget shirt and decal. Thank you for having 4xl as an option
