    In my experience, college wrestling practices were basically the same structure as HS. However when we wanted to get more personalized trainings we would do 2 practices in the day. An early morning conditioning and separated pods in the afternoon for the more focused drills/live wrestling. The biggest difference is that you are going from being top dog in your room to being at the bottom or average in most cases. The second difference is the off season conditioning is just insane by comparison. If you want to run until you puke, just do a college off season conditioning plan.

      I loved the feel of small group work in college. It made me feel like I was getting in the shop and really becoming a specialized, individual wrestler. I got to focus on the way I wrestled my matches and make improvements quickly. Plus it was huge for camaraderie.

    • @bullfrogjay4383
      @bullfrogjay4383 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@caiqueinacio673 Biggest difference is the grappling style. Wrestlers are very strong and explosive where as Jiu-jitsu guys are calculating and more comfortable with being on their back. Wrestlers train to stay on top and never go to their backs. Most wrestling styles deal with pins and slams and catch wrestling incorporates lots of nasty submissions. Jiu-jitsu uses Judo throws and a slew of sweeps, pins and submissions. No gi Jiu-jitsu deals purely with body mechanics while Gi Jiu-jitsu deals with grips and lapel work for pins and submissions though not necessary to pull submissions off. The vast majority of MMA Jiu-jitsu fighters primarily train No gi to prevent wasted muscle memory looking for grips while fighting. Hope this clears some stuff up. I love both grappling styles and respect Muay Thai. Hope to train in it sometime.

    I have a question. Since I’m an old head who wrestled in the 80s and 90s I use to lift super heavy to gain strength and size then cut weight during the season. Do you find it harder to cut weight during the season due to strength and conditioning which makes you super hungry or do you find it easier to pull water from your muscle bellies since water is mostly stored there or would you consider going up a weight class so you still have all your energy and strength plus endurance.

    • @CaydenHenschel
      @CaydenHenschel  ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Question:
    1 How do you balance Olympic wrestling and college wrestling?
    2 If you're good at tackling American football, are you good at tackling wrestling? Or are they different things?

    • @kevionrogers2605
      @kevionrogers2605 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are done at different seasons, so a wrestler mainly focus on one ruleset during the relevant season. Tackling and double leg takedowns are not the same, because tackling is done while running, so its more about intercepting a moving opponent while double legs neither are running and requires setting up the takedown.

    • @_penguin_9946
      @_penguin_9946 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nah even if your good at football tackling it's while both are running but when they are still you need to learn setups otherwise you'll get sprawled/crossfaced by anyone half decent at wrestling

      @user-vj4tw4ti1t 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@_penguin_9946 That's right.
      On a different note, is an American football tackle effective when a police officer catches a suspect who is running away?
      On the other hand, is it difficult to catch a running person with a wrestling tackle?
      In that case, it would be better to play both American football and wrestling.
