I have just discovered Owen and the other puritan authors. What a vault of wisdom and knowledge! I am in my third year of being a born again Christian, having forsaken all and committed myself from day one to the narrow path of discipleship (according to the whole counsel of God as recorded in the KJV). God has been so faithful to lead me to exactly the knowledge I needed, and to provide me with experiences and revelation in parallel with my studies, with perfect timing at each stage of my spiritual development. Anyone who finds the puritans (Owen, Murray, Mather, Baxter, et al) has been brought by the Lord to a large place to set their feet upon a mighty rock.

"A Puritan Theology: Doctrine for Life (Beeke & Jones)" go straight to this book. You will treasure it and use it to dig deep into the works of their original books if you love the puritans. One of my friends who is much older than me in the Lord, I brought this book for him. He found it to be marvelous, it compelled him to go back to the original volume of books that he had in a back room covered in dust for years. He never had the intention of reading them until he come across this book which cherry picked the best of the best puritan doctrine for consumption. Its an excellent place to start and finish alike on the puritans. May it please God to continue to bless your studies. Your message has been and encouragement to me. Thanks

Thank you,; John Owen was one who felt ( sensitive ) for others. It was this ability that made him extremely passionate in writing his authentic books. Indulgence and tolerance considered strikes a cord. 1 Peter1 : 16 For it is written: " Be holy, because I am Holy". Since you call on a Father who judges each person's work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear. 1 Peter1 : 22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the Truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. Thank you very much for this biography of a man so Honorable.

I ..personally ...have come to appreciate this man's reproof ... Even though John Owen may have thought that no one was listening to him in his day ... especially for the teachers and professors ...Now is definitely the time that True Church of God and Jesus Christ should be listening ... ... Chancellor Owen's words definitely should take every professing saint and believer .... in the pulpit as well as the pews ...to task ....on the work of God , sanctification and holiness , true mortification of sin and death of carnality of the sin that so easily entangles us ........Very humbling and sobering ...indeed ... THE FEAR OF GOD IS THE BEGINNING OF WISDOM ....

These older books are excellent - and a theology not corrupted by New Age and Eastern Mysticism. So many modern books on prayer are corrupted be non-Christian eastern ideas.
