    I don t see why you call volleyball "less strenuous" then basketball... the real difference is that in volleyball there is no direct contact with the adversaries... so in this sense it is less "physical" and "confrontational" and also more "honest" .. basically you cannot commit faults against an adversary ..

    • @MRMEMAN-er2mc

      Well in basketball it’s a lot more running back and forth and it’s very fast paced, which means it required alot of cardio as well as all the other things, so in that sense it can be

      Volleyball is 100% way less strenuous compared to basketball or soccer. Doesn't mean it isn't physically demanding because there are of course high levels of fitness to play more successfully, but no where near as much running.

    • @Tech_Publica
      @Tech_Publica ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheBrito doing a "strenuousness competition" between volley and basket is probably not a very intelligent use of our time. They are just different in the way they test your body. I would say volley is more about short burst, basket is more of "continuous".

      @@Tech_Publica Dawg it's the Internet, I'd argue 90% of it is not "good use of time."

    I have a sand volleyball focused sports bar close to where i live in Cincinnati (they have 6 courts). I randomly asked a bunch of my career focused, late 20s, semi athletic friends if they'd like to join a "beer league" last summer even though most of us had zero vball experience. Despite the fact we lost most of our games to far more experienced teams, it became a highlight of everyone's week last summer. So many welcoming / kind people happy to see new people in their sport just having a laugh while getting decent workout and some sun.
    We made some changes / actually practiced this year and are now half way decent. What a fun sport.

    This was a very informative video, even for a volleyball player. Maybe an idea for a follow up video: Evolution of volleybal rules.
    When I was beginning to play, net touches were somewhat allowed, only the top and bottom part of the net were forbidden to touch.

    • @christophrauscher3520
      @christophrauscher3520 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      this rule was only a brief experiment. When I learned Volleyball the rules were much tougher ... but I believe now the game is more attraktive.
      Just look at the new rules concerning position errors ...

    Tell the top volleyball players that the game is not very vigorous.
    In fifties, the serve had to be received with fingers and any small sticking was considered a fault. Then the "bump" came and in order to give defense better chance, the blocks could go over the net plane. Some changes involved counting he number of touches after a block. One of the worst decisions was to allow a ball kick - it is against the game intention and is also dangerous. I do not see the top player to use it. The game systems have developed and variety of the attack today is amazing.

    1. They totally missed the MAJOR changes of 1998 :( that's literally the turning point towards modern volleyball:(
    2. A sport not too strenuous? Not too vigorous? Not too tiring? Pff... Ok... Specially beach volleyball, right? Pff

    More than any other team sport I can think of, volleyball rewards those who were born with physical advantages, and punishes those who were not. For example, I've been a passable tennis doubles player with good racket and anticipation skills, and even in basketball I could compensate somewhat for my disastrous inability to jump with speed on defense, ability to break fast, to find the open man, etc. But volleyball is a total loss for me BECAUSE I CAN'T JUMP.

    • @paulshadepanda
      @paulshadepanda 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      however volleyball is not just spike and block, especially at amateur level. Of course these are two very important parts of volleyball.

    • @mirieshii1948
      @mirieshii1948 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      liberos don't need to jump and you don't have to be a high jumper to be a spiker. I think it's the opposite. you can be the best in volleyball but you can't win a match if your other teammates are terrible. this is probably the sport that relies most on chemistry among the players.

    • @manueldelano6281
      @manueldelano6281 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need that speed and reading abilities for playing libero, and you don't need to jump... Just saying

    You missed one of the biggest changes in rules. Modern Volley is from the 80s ahead...
    The points with advantage when the set was 15 and not allowing to BLOCK the service.
    All services in the past where from bellow position and the jumping service was invented by Renan a Brazilian player when they where still allowing to block the service. So, at his time he was the only player to serve jumping. No one else did it.
    By the way, my favorite player is Tande. Nalbert was also great!

    Volleyball (Mintonette in fact) was created in France as a way to keep old people in good shape. It was then spread in USA by Morgan in a more "sportive" way.
