Claudes performance in The Yearling had to be the strangest bizarre emotional acting Ive ever seen in a child actor in any film. His portrayal of shock, anger, dismay and outright heartbreak was second to none then and thereafter in films overall in my opinion compared to other child actors in older or newer movies. His horrified little innocent face over the fate of Flag his beloved pesky deer buddy will forever be etched in my movie memory. Well done Claude; an incredible contribution to an era when Hollywood movies were home friendly.

This is wonderful to see. He is so poised and well-spoken. I love hearing him describe Clarence Brown's directorial approach.

Fascinating interview. Next time, please invest in a $5 tripod so we don't have to get dizzy whenever you jerk the camera around.

We loved watching The Yearling as children in the 1950's though the ending was bittersweet. I purchased the DVD years ago and watch it along with The Biscuit Eater. HIs acting was unique and nothing compared to the trash kid stars we see now. There is even a Japanese version of the book which ran for two years and the ending is as in the book but with animation one can take liberties. The death of the yearling was eloquent, shocking and conveyed such a sadness.
