  • Blacksmith Will Turner teams up with eccentric pirate "Captain" Jack Sparrow to save Elizabeth Swann, the governor's daughter and his love, from Jack's former pirate allies, who are now undead. After 20 years I'm finally brave enough to watch Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and now I have to deal with all the wasted years!

8:30 It’s just meant to mean that Sparrow is notorious enough for Norrington to identify him by tattoo. Not that he learnt his name from seeing it

Definitely watch at least the next 2. This first film can be a stand alone but the first 3 are a full connected trilogy.

One of the best trilogies out there.
As per everyone else - the next two are great. They relate to each other and the 3rd rounds it out nicely as a conclusion (while leaving it open for more). The 4th and 5th one weren’t directed by the same person as the first 3 (although the 4th one had the same writer), and I do believe the 4th one especially is a decent movie. If you have tempered expectations (but go in with an open mind), I think you’ll enjoy them.

“A short drop and a sudden stop” has been one of my favorite go to phrases for a long time 😂
Especially when trying to get around TH-cam censors 🤐

That’s actually really cool that sometimes military bases get to see movies early before the general public (and also for free!). Probably the least those people deserve for their service 😂😅

Also hell yeah you acknowledging Barbossa's character. He's my personal favorite and Geoffrey Rush does such an incredible job

"Take what ya can, give nothin' back...." I absolutely DO NOT care what anyone says, Johnny Depp was and IS the only actor who can effectively give Captain Jack Sparrow his piratey swagger.

As a kid I saw a shot of the sequel. I was forever scared of watching these movies until the 4th one hit theaters and a friend invited me to watch it

New sub here! I like that you gave Geoffrey Rush (Barbosa) some shine. Depp steals the limelight, but Rush holds his own and puts in a fantastic performance.
And yes, you were correct in thinking of jaundice in regards to yellowing of eyes and skin (which is a sign of liver failure). And to address your psychologist/psychiatrist confusion: the main difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist is the latter has about 4 extra years of schooling so they can prescribe medication, as well as handle more complex and severe forms of mental illness. So, if you're thinking of seeing someone for talk therapy for something more straightforward like anxiety or depression, you'd likely see a psychologist (and if they decide you need meds they'll send you to a psychiatrist for that) but if you have something more severe and disruptive like schizophrenia, you're likely to see a psychiatrist. Hope that clears up the confusion :)

How could anyone not know how to pronounce, Caribbean. When dropped off on the small sandy island "Captain" Jack Sparrow turns to Elizabeth Swann & says "Welcome to the Caribbean". Who's going to argue with "Captain" Jack Sparrow?

The sword fights! It's funny that you mention how good the fight scene was in relation to modern star wars!
The Sword Master ( sword fight choreographer and more) was the legendary Bob Anderson!
Bob was the same Sword Master for the original Star Wars trilogy, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and many other great movies up until his death in 2012. He wasn't involved with the Star Wars prequels or beyond, as you rightly mentioned!
He was also a former Olympian fencer himself, If there was a movie with a good sword fight sequence in it, chances are it was the master himself at work.
Seriously, his Wikipedia page will make your jaw drop!

You should definetely watch the next two at least. Some say that the next one, Dead Man's Chest is the best movie of the franchise. But it also has one of the best movie villains of all time!
And there you get more answers... like how does the compas work?

When I rewatch, I watch the original trilogy, and a single scene from the 5th.

You don't need to see all the movies, but the first 3 is recommended because it is a continuation of the same story.

You definitely got react to the next two at the least. Most people don’t really care for the last 2 bit I think they do work if you look at them more as their own movies as opposed to direct sequels like the first 3. Still worth a watch though

First three unbearably, others not so much but still good.

I would just watch the first three if I were you because those are a lot of fun and in my opinion they just go down hill from there but that’s just my opinion.
I also have a recommendation/ request for you to watch, which is 1999’s Chill Factor it’s a fun action movie and as far as I know no other movie reaction channels have done it.

I honestly liked all of them even when they started to get a bit goofy, but I’ve loved pirate stuff since I was very young and Pirates of the Caribbean was always my favorite ride so I’m probably biased 😂
Anyways I agree with the comment above me that he should form his own opinion and stop watching only if/when he’s no longer interested.

Or shut up and let him form his own opinion on 4 and 5 which though not as good as the first three are not bad movies.
