Also, I know the write up has some serious stuff in it so wanted to break it down a bit: -my position was never in charge of putting on e-collars on surgery patients (also wasn’t even communicated that we had them) -the alarm wouldn’t even activate unless every door and window were closed 🤔 -I never forgot medications, just sometimes forgot to mark it off
Hey I just wanted to share with you I really appreciate hearing your story and I saw your first video too. Today was a pretty bad day that I got fired as a kennel assistant and thought something was wrong with me for not exceeding expectations even though I followed everything you told me to do and I always checked in with them to make sure I didn’t do it wrong to not get in trouble for anything. I still got fired because apparently I was asking him too many questions and shouldn’t be talking to the technicians or veterinarians basically communicating with them if I can clean the exam rooms once they were done or not. Especially since I would be cleaning outside for the front and back of the hospital they told me I needed to clean all the way to the sidewalk where the street was which I didn’t think about it and know. So today I got fired when that happened and the take away that I got from it that really personally hit me was how the manager told me that I shouldn’t be communicating with anyone at the hospital but I should be a ghost. Then told him that this would ever be a good fit for me to work in a veterinary hospital since I want to be a veterinarian and he said to have a more open mindset with being more aware of my surroundings when cleaning. Since this is my first job working as a kennel assistant which I had no experience only volunteering at a animal shelter only teaching me a few things I felt that they were expecting the most highest experience that it did not make sense to me why are they were expecting so much in the short amount of time because I was only working there twice a week for about 6-7 hours minimum wage (part time) and had been working there for about two weeks. Honestly I left crying today and thinking that this dream of mine to be a veterinarian isn’t it because I got fired. I’m willing to take ownership of things I can improve on in the vet field overall even with me not being perfect in the position in the most shortest period of time only working those four shifts I would always try my hardest and would always comply with what they would tell me to do when it came to certain things to get done. Just hearing your story really made me feel that wasn’t the healthiest for me and I shouldn’t give up on my dream career. 🥺 Thank you.
Ew what an awful experience! I’m sorry you had to go through that, that’s absolutely ridiculous. I promise it gets better and there’s much better out there! Thanks so much for watching and good luck to you❤️
OMG I'm so sorry you had to deal with that!! And especially during school when you should be getting the most guidance and inspiration. That makes me so sad. You should send your old clinic owner a link to this video lol. I saw a lot of those comments from your last video (And I contradicted them) And I'm sick of people saying that "That's just vet med." I'm exactly like you where it doesn't have to be that way and we need to help make a change. I've quit two toxic clinics and people have told me the same thing and that there is no perfect clinic. While that is true, that's not an excuse to stay when you are treated like crap. I actually start my new job in emergency medicine today, I'm really nervous but also excited! The clinic I just quit lost 14 people in the 9 months I was there. They used to be a huge clinic and now nobody wants to work for them
Hi! I have a question that i hope you can answer.. what kind of benefits do vet techs get when they start working at a vet clinic? Do they get health insurance? Im thinking about going back to school to become a tech but im unsure of this particular thing. Thank you! 🙏
Thank you for sharing this on your channel for us. Its especially helpful for those who too want to become a licensed RVT like you. Im so sorry you had to work in a clinic environment like that without getting the respect you deserved as a worker. Just to show your right, dont lisen to tbose who tell you to just "suck it up and its the way it is." Its NOT the way it is and is always a bright side. I hope that your doing well and I always find your video's encouraging because I too want to become an RVT. Thanks again!

100% depends on the clinic! I know a lot of corporates come with insurance, just have to look around!
