awesome ! I used to do it like: select line -> effect -> distortion and transformation -> transformation... -> add a few milimeters on the horizontal axes and make 10 copies
I am a graphic designer student at high school and searching tutorials online has got to be the most humiliating thing for me .. don't get me wrong it sounds bad, but come on- we're suppose to learn these things in GRAPHIC school yet we don't :(( thanks for tutorials man, thanks to you i might actually find a job :D
Yea I appreciate what you’re saying 👊 I did two years at college studying Graphic Design, but everything really kicked off with regards learning once I got my first job and was immersed in the apps every day. College taught me a lot of design theory, idea generation etc, but not enough practical application, actually using the design software to create a finished product.
Normally I can do a "Nudge Paste" where I use "alt+nudge" to duplicate the object one nudge worth over. It's the easiest and quickest way to duplicate something in the same spot, because I can then, just nudge it back over into place. The problem is, I can't do this with a text box. Instead it increases or decreases the spacing between letters. Does anyone know of a work around?
Hello there! Thanks for your tutorials! I need to create a certain number of duplicate shapes in a row, is it possible to create a shape and set the number of duplicates I want and just have it done like that? Haven't found this option myself so hope you can help. Thanks
THANK YOU! I recall doing this in college, however things move so fast and your learning many things in a short period of time, I had forgotten how to quickly duplicate in Illustrator. Thank you so much for this quick tutorial. You also explain things very well. :)
How do I duplicate an object right in the top of the object. I mean I don't dragging it anywhere. This tutorial needs me to drag the object. I've used copy and paste and the object appeear in the middle of the screen, not in the top of the object I copied.
Great tutorial. I am struggling a bit as I am transitioning from CorelDraw to Illustrator. Cmd+D was the default way to duplicate objects there but it didn't seem to work in illustrator. Turns out, there are whole lot more you can do using other buttons. Thank you!
Illustrator, after a billion years in development still doesn't have a mouse level duplicate scale, duplicate object in place or a whole host of basic functionality. It's a terrible application missing so many basic features, adobe should be ashamed. Their fixation with introducing new features across their suite, whilst ignoring problems that are in some cases, years old, is my biggest bugbear. Adobe should cease all new feature upgrades for 12 or 24 months and address the many, many, many broken aspects of their suite. Conical gradients anyone? Basic, basic stuff.
or...you can copy a lne in circular way but make only 8 lines. Groupe them, copy the lot and rotate. Then do the same for all that lot. Copy and rotate. You'll have a quick even distribution of lines.
I am using illustrator 2019 and whenever i use the shortcut CTRL+D the object which is duplicated shifts some lengths ahead and the distance between the objects keep on increasing each time i duplicate, please reply if someone have a solution to this.
good tutorials but please teach us pro-level tutorials, Many other TH-camrs have done the same tutorials already, Adobe illustrator cc 2019 already had many new features need to teach something new for reference of new tips or ideas see Adobe illustrator official podcast videos, I don't remember the name of that guy it was 1 hour video and he mentioned many cool points you can breakdown that video and teach each step in detail in your videos although you have a good in teaching this will help a lot of peoples and especially for us fan of yours man :)
Hey thanks Zeshan, appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. Sure, can definitely look at planning a few more advanced tuts in the future 😉
Everytime I drag and drop with alt it slightly moves it a little to the right and when I duplicate then you really can see it at the end. What am I doing wrong?
you'll be surprised, but I'm here because I had to duplicate a bunch of vertical lines, just like that
Same bruh
I know a tutorial is solid when I had to watch without sound and still learned to do exactly what I needed to.

I think,, the tutorial need a face to face. I need to see the keyboard and your mouse. 🥺
I use Illustrator only a couple of times a year and I always forget this useful feature. So, I find myself back here time and time again.

fixed it. had snap to pixel and all stuff on. turned it off, works fine now
Aha yes! Sometimes if ‘snap to pixel’ and ‘snap to point’ are both turned on, it can create all kinds of chaos 😂
