I think its special when you hear sounds you have never heard before. So this wonderfully skilful and expressive piece is extra special. The cat and final bow are great too!
What a fantastic piece! Amazing concept & I love the versatility you show of yourself, your ideas & the instrument! Cello is an amazing instrument -- especially in your hands! Thank you.
HI Ethan Totally cool man thanks for putting this together and letting us watch. This is why TH-cam puts television to shame. Excellent composition and video. Thanks again.
@bajubner This was played live with a string orchestra a few years ago, using an arrangement a friend did. It will be played again this summer in Ithaca, NY on July 30. If it comes out well we'll post a clip here on TH-cam.
This...is...cool!!! This is the sort of innovation that the moden world needs--genuinely creative, masterful uses of ALL parts of the instrument, not just the classic music-making parts, to piece together a fine work. Simply awesome!
Very impressive! I love the themes. I'm just starting cello and this is definitely one of the more inspired pieces I've heard coming from the contemporary. Cheers!
man that's just beautiful the cello is my favorite stringed instrument and this just sound delightful and you even went so far as to turn it into a percussion instrument too awsome
@bettyd3345 It reduces "wolf tones" which are strong resonances at specific frequencies that occur in some cellos. Google wolf eliminator for a full explanation.
hey ethan! it's awesome to hear you play! i read plenty on GS forum from you, and always have respect, but this is way next level! interesting to see people who can be creative or artistic, and still be scientific or logical... rock on!
I'm monitoring on Event 280x2 watt Precision 8's and it sounds very nice. Hats off to Artist, recording, mixing and mastering engineers, this took some work. This track is moving some air, bravo.
I wrote the music in SONAR (software) using sampled cellos, then replaced all the synthesizers one by one with live playing. The software includes a metronome, and also lets you move parts in time after recording if needed.
@randomino1 Right, there are 37 parts total. If you play or read music, all the parts are on my web site. Click my name above to find it. The 37 parts also includes various sound effects.
Yes, Ethan, brillant! Lots of subtelties! You are a funny guy! What a nice way to finish the day watching, listening, admiring your performance! You enjoy yourself playing. So do I wtaching! Both rythmic and melodious! Thanks, and keep them coming! Bless the holy black cat!!!
@tyinykiller5 I used Cakewalk SONAR to record and arrange the audio, and Sony Vegas Video to edit the video. These programs are great! But there are others that do similar.
Just a reminder that this video is now available in HD on my own TH-cam channel.
Maestro is also a monster engineer!
@@lelegambera100Thanks again.
@@EthanWinermaestro is there a way, a page, an email where we can talk and share about mixing.
Sincerely. Lele
