I think its special when you hear sounds you have never heard before. So this wonderfully skilful and expressive piece is extra special. The cat and final bow are great too!
This...is...cool!!! This is the sort of innovation that the moden world needs--genuinely creative, masterful uses of ALL parts of the instrument, not just the classic music-making parts, to piece together a fine work. Simply awesome!
@bajubner This was played live with a string orchestra a few years ago, using an arrangement a friend did. It will be played again this summer in Ithaca, NY on July 30. If it comes out well we'll post a clip here on TH-cam.
What a fantastic piece! Amazing concept & I love the versatility you show of yourself, your ideas & the instrument! Cello is an amazing instrument -- especially in your hands! Thank you.
HI Ethan Totally cool man thanks for putting this together and letting us watch. This is why TH-cam puts television to shame. Excellent composition and video. Thanks again.
@randomino1 Right, there are 37 parts total. If you play or read music, all the parts are on my web site. Click my name above to find it. The 37 parts also includes various sound effects.
Very impressive! I love the themes. I'm just starting cello and this is definitely one of the more inspired pieces I've heard coming from the contemporary. Cheers!
I wrote the music in SONAR (software) using sampled cellos, then replaced all the synthesizers one by one with live playing. The software includes a metronome, and also lets you move parts in time after recording if needed.
man that's just beautiful the cello is my favorite stringed instrument and this just sound delightful and you even went so far as to turn it into a percussion instrument too awsome
I'm monitoring on Event 280x2 watt Precision 8's and it sounds very nice. Hats off to Artist, recording, mixing and mastering engineers, this took some work. This track is moving some air, bravo.
@kingnothing119 If you find your way to my web site there's more information about this video. From that web page: "I thought it would be a fun project to write and record a pop tune using nothing but cellos, then make a video of the performance. The original goal was to keep everything entirely acoustic, with no recording studio effects or other processing. I quickly abandoned that idea to get more variety of sounds, but everything you hear was played entirely on my cello."
@kimsanleanne Thanks for the nice comments. There's a high-res version of this video on my own TH-cam channel, and also a second music video called Tele-Vision.
It's not practical to do this piece live, but my friend Bob Spear did it anyway. :-) Bob wrote an arrangement for a full string orchestra, and it was performed two months ago in Ithaca, NY. We videotaped the performance, but I'm not sure if it will be posted here on TH-cam. If it is I'll let you know.
@draeath No, there are 37 separate parts, with some sharing the same tracks. It's a coincidence that there are also 37 plug-ins. If you live near me you're welcome to visit and see the SONAR project. :->)
Just a reminder that this video is now available in HD on my own TH-cam channel.
Maestro is also a monster engineer!
@@lelegambera100Thanks again.
@@EthanWinermaestro is there a way, a page, an email where we can talk and share about mixing.

I love people who think "how can" rather than "why can't."

@0MafY0 Thanks guys. I recorded the audio for this tune using SONAR Producer, and used Vegas Video Pro for the video.
Awesome video... The backgrounds are amusing, especially when the images warp. I especially liked the hand-slide scraping sound and the bow-tapping.

I wrote the music in SONAR (software) using sampled cellos, then replaced all the synthesizers one by one with live playing. The software includes a metronome, and also lets you move parts in time after recording if needed.
