    Looks great I have thought about doing my entire Fj cruiser. I will be doing my steel winch bumper this summer getting tires of repainting it every couple of years. Did my sons FJ cruiser roof in white this summer came out great. Great product easy to use. You need at minimum a 6 gallon compressor. Does not help with sound deadening I have a buddy that did his entire Fj Cruiser.

    Tip for adding color. When I did my jeep I went to the pet store and got one of there large syringes. I could then measure exactly 50ml and squirt in directly into the raptor liner without any mess at all. I also died them all at once so I didnt have to worry about mixing them up. Color came out way lighter than I thought it would, but it actually looks better a lighter blue.

    It’s supposed to sprayed at 50 psi the first 2 coats then 2 70 psi coats and when doing tintable raptorliner it takes 3.25 oz per bottle not 2 oz it’s going to die back some. I spray raptorliner for a living have a shop in Florida but it came out pretty good needs one more 70 psi coat to make the texture on the passenger side match and be even and consistent

    • @5150MotorSports
      @5150MotorSports  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When we used 45 psi we didn't like the texture it was way to course for are liking. Using 80 psi and the adjustable spray gun nozzle turned out 2 turns gave us the result we wanted. Our Raptor dealer suggested 2 oz of color base coat without binder to matched are factory color per bottle. It came out fairly close but a little light maybe 3.25 oz would have been better.

    It still surprises me how many raptorliner videos I see with people spraying without proper PPE. The hardener in raptor line has isocyanate, highly toxic and either you use a charcoal filter mask and change the filter every couple of hours or a supplied air respirator is needed.

    nice raptor liner job but you shouldn't stir body filler it's not good for it works better if you keep spreading it over and over till you get a contestant color and try and use a piece of metal or parchment paper to mix on just a tip still like the video

    • @justinmurphy2227
      @justinmurphy2227 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes....I've always been told to "fold" the hardener into the filler....not stir because it can lock in air bubbles and cause cracks later. Then again, I'm sure I've added air in before.....probably a scare tactic to make for good practice so it can't hurt to just keep doing it the way I'm taught! lol.

    • @5150MotorSports
      @5150MotorSports  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not necessarily, some painter prefer starting at the bottom working up, you just needd to be aware of your air supply. Also your tack coat starting from the bottom helps the paint from running. The hose getting in the way is always a concern even from starting from the top, once you have one coat you need to be aware of you hose..

      Hi Keith, Thanks for the subb...
      We brought two kits, each kit has 4 bottles. We used a total of 7 bottles, which leaves us one for any touch up that maybe needed in the future. Bought the kit from my local automotive paint supplier and paid around $150.00 per kit. You can find the kits cheaper on Amazon. I have provide a link below.

      @5150MotorSports  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Dominic, Thanks for watching…
      Visit your local automotive paint (PBE) supply store, and they can help you color match. RAPTOR is compatible with any solvent based color, including 2K acrylic solid color and mixed acrylic basecoats, and can be added up to 10% by volume (ask your paint supplier to leave out the binders if possible for best pigment density). NOTE: Acrylic basecoat toners tend to have high color strength so use sparingly (less than 10% tint by volume). RAPTOR cannot be used with water based, polyester, or enamel paints.

    What is good budget compressor for Raptor Liner?
    What parts do you need as in water separator and so forth?
    Thanks so much!
    I've also been studying another liner product that is made to rolled on and is self leveling. It's made by Durabak. Looks very promising as there is less product wasted and less prep needed. I would love for you to do a comparison video before I purchased either.
    I know that seems greedy, but I'm disabled (just becoming as I'm on my 3rd surgery in 2.5 years....my spine's discs a falling apart) and will only get one shot at this both physically and financially. I would even contact them in your behalf to see if they would give you a sample.
    I just do not have the means to restore my 2003 Ranger Edge Tremor Edition with paint and conventional compressor methods. A liner job, especially one that can be rolled on, seems like the best for me.
    I love the Jeep Cherokee you did here! Just a beautiful job. I could see the actual automotive companies offering this as an option soon as the Durabak liner is used on Naval ships.
    Here's the link. Enjoy if you're a geek like me!
    Thanks again for all your hard work. Not only is this a tough job but only tougher since you're filming and editing it both!

      Hi Justin,
      Sorry to hear about your back.
      Thanks for the sharing the Durabak link, look like a standup product. :)
      Not sure of the Raptor Liner compressor requirement, I do have a good size compressor which was never an issue for us plus we do have water trap integrated into the air supply line. .
      You bring up some good points and might be a better option for you to rolling on vs
      spraying. I not familiar with Durabak but seems similar to Monster Liner.
      In the near future I maybe painting one of my car trailers and may need to check out Durabak as it does look impressive.
      FYI.. most of the time and work goes into the prep work. These coating system really saves on the time and work as it not nearly as critical to go through all the sanding stages as you would with a basecoat paint.
      Thanks,
      Dean
