April 2012 - a new poem by Andrea Gibson (www.andreagibson.org). With Emily Saavedra WEB: www.andreagibson.org MERCH: www.indiemerch.com/andreagibson TWITTER: @andreagibson FACEBOOK: andreagibsonpoetry
I have been watching this every day for the last month or so, and I'm still blown away. I still cry every single time. Simply and bittersweetly beautiful.
I was absolutely thrilled when she performed this one in Portland last week. I remember thinking to myself when I got there, 'well I know I am going to cry at some point, but hopefully, it'll be towards the end of the show.' But sure enough, this was the second poem she performed. And as soon as she said, "You have to understand when it hurt to love her,,," I just burst into tears. It was so good. And I met her after the show and I was so starstruck and so moved
This is truely amazing, i think its something all of us can relate to especially in relation to love - the good and the tragic. Sometimes its something you attempt to make a figment of a memory/ past but this, it makes everything flood back...
I was hoping Andrea would do this one at the show last Wednesday. Andrea didn't do Prism, but did read a new one called "Why Breaking Up Fucking Sucks", and that was when I got sad because in this poem, it's kind of speculative, but in that one...it was obvious. Andrea absolutely deserves so much love, and my heart is full of happy wishes for Andrea's future.
I only had a love story with a woman once before I came here. When I came here... I had the same one again. I didn't just hear Andrea's story, I just relived my own. God.
i remember when i first memorized this poem i had no idea if it said “my friend derrick” or “my friend eric” there’s no possible way to know without reading the poem in text i thought that was funny
-Everytime i say please come back i feel like i am trying to find a dirty needle in a haystack, and lord knows i cant go out like that. -The Heart forms Weeks before the ribcage.
Your poetry kills me. Your words are so powerful that even when the video is over I can still hear your voice speaking to me..You are amazing!
Yesterday I did Andrea immersion and heard "Heather" for the first time instead of "lover." What a heart you have.
I want to live in her brain. She's been bringing me to tears everyday, in the best way possible.
oh. my. gosh. That was an amazing experience. What emotion Andrea passes on; that's such a gift.

This is the second of her poems that has made me bawl my eyes out....but this one....wow. I can't stop. It's nothing short of beautiful.

I'm really sorry to hear this...it's beautiful and I love it, but I'm sad that it didn't work out with Heather. Andrea deserves so much love.
