I feel like Hero Factory could be a good “little brother” to Bionicle if it had more lore, I liked what they were building up to with the whole “Villain Factory” thing but nothing every happened with it, which kinda disappointed me since we got “Brain Attack!” And “Invasion From Below” right after a cliffhanger.
I’ve watched every episode and I feel like it had a lot going for it but not much was actually done.
There’s a lot of missed potential in the series. For example, how Von Ness/Nebula’s motivation didn’t make much sense. He was upset at something he did? He was the one who bailed on Stormer and Thresher, so he has no real reason to want revenge. If somehow, Thresher died during the Drone attack, Von Nebula could find some way to blame Stormer, but that didn’t happen for obvious reasons I’d assume.
Another thing I felt like they could’ve expanded more on is the characterization of the Heroes themselves. I mean, what other choice do they have? The Quaza cores give them their personalities and they’re named by the Hero Factory, so they don’t get to choose their own path in life.
all in all Hero Factory could 100% benefit from more lore, I’d love to see some sort of continuation, even though it’s unlikely.
