Here's Why 2x-WRC Champ Miki Biasion Still Drives Lancia Delta Integrales

- Massimo “Miki" Biasion describes himself as a failed architect who dedicated his life to racing cars, and he has been involved with rally cars in particular for a while now. The 61-year-old remains the only Italian driver who's won the World Rally Championship (WRC) since the four-wheel drive cars took over in the early 1980s (and he took the title two years in a row no less); he drove the iconic Lancia 037s and Delta S4s during the high-performance, high-risk Group B era before enjoying a dominant period in the early years of Group A; and today his business is devoted to the restoration and upkeep of the rally cars he competed with in period. In this week’s film, we join him in Italy for a few lessons in life and Lancia.

What a legend. I grew up watching “Signor Integrale” and lusted after those beautiful machines, preferring them to the Cosworths and Imprezzas of the day. His championships were the perfect hangover cure for the Group B monsters that almost killed the sport.

Sadly Fiat is letting Lancia die on the vine, it’s a superb brand with a glorious history I would love to see it reclaim its glory !

@@rvcasa Why couldn't Fiat have sold Lancia, if they couldn't keep both Alfa and Lancia. If I'm not mistaken, Ford was interested in Lancia in the late 60's. VW (audi) bought Lamborghini. It's still Italian in my eyes.

Grande Miki sei una leggenda ,ho avuto una Delta 4wd dell'86 comprata usata nel 1991 per 2 anni . Dopo tanti anni ancora mi manca ,e mi pento amaramente di averla venduta ,ma ero troppo giovane e stupido per capire.
Forever my favourite rally car, and my favourite pilot, no doubt about that! I remember skipping class in 1990 just to go see the Portuguese Rally prologue, and when I got there, one of the Deltas passed right beside me going from or to parc fermé, low revs, with that deep loud growl and I was totally absolutely amazed. Star struck for a car. Great to see the love Miki Biasion still has for the car.
This is the Lancia Legend that unfortunatelly it's now faded over time. Thanks to Miki keeping this history alive.
This feels like kicking back and listening to your Italian grandfather reminisce about the glory days. I cannot get enough of these videos.

The Delta HF Integrale, is one of my favourite cars ever. I wish I could drive one of these iconic cars.

I bought a Renault 5 GT Turbo for £9k in 1989...Delta Integrales were going for double that. Miss my little Renault and 205 GTI but regret not taking the plunge and getting the Intergrale

This is Monte Grappa, in particular the climb to Cima Grappa from Borso del Grappa.
20 minutes from my house, in the summer, almost every weekend me and my family go to this beautiful places

Well done Miki. I'm from Bassano del Grappa too, and I'm proud of it. Your story, your past, your success are timeless. Just 2 o 3 remarks...the 4WD plate in the front of Lancia Delta 4 wd is the wrong position, she has to be put in a lower position. Furthermore, the left seat has the alcantara ruined, it needs a restore...
A special mention about the imagines recorded in the Monte Grappa area.
Such a beautiful story nd rewards from God and Lancia team paid off to Mikki after showing/devotion his entire life, passion & hobby to become 1/married with the DELTA...What a wonderful story!!!! Lancia choose you as the Godfather and you were living your dream!!!!! That car was & still outstanding nowdays, body line, curve, fender flares, the turbo fan wheels along with the compomotive wheels, quad headlights etc....That's the Delta!

I believe what he called the East Africa Rally was actually the Safari Rally. I saw his winning Lancia in action in '88 and '89 at the Safari Rally.

The shooting were made in the area of Bassano del Grappa and especially Mount Grappa, the "balcony on the Padana plain". Very nice area and roads for biking and driving.

Everytime I see a lancia on TH-cam I think it's hard to fathom why FIAT have decided to let the brand slip into history when Alfa sales remain so low and it must be so simple to rebrand and market something as come back champion. The negatives could be countered at the pass (e.g. no use of steel chassis or panels etc). Maybe the 1st lancia electric to give Fiat some wow factor again.
