This technic uses equipment that is traceable, which means that its accuracy can be traced back to an international standard. The RTD calibrator simulates the exact signal that would be produced by the RTD to the transmitter. Therefore an RTD simulator such as the Fluke 712 RTC Process Calibrator, Fluke 724 Temperature Calibrator, or Altek 211 would be recommended to calibrate a Temperature Transmitter. A dry block or dry well would be used to test the RTD probe itself.
The reason that they used the WD40 was to give the transmitter the worked-on look. If inspected the inspector would know that someone had worked on it. I know that sounds silly but it worked. It also was a way to clean the outside of the transmitter.
So you're manipulating the resistance that should be generated by the RTD when it's heated/cooled? I guess a dry block would do the same thing, only you're applying the actual temperature to the RTD and seeing what it generates. Those damn things are so hard to keep the temp steady though. Is this method much more accurate?
I am sure it is WD40 ,maintenance people not only instrument use in order to clean and spread some lubrication to the equipment that is being maintained.
good video!i having one problem After calibration local display unit in the TT was showing the correct reading but while transmitting the value to emerson flowbloss computer its faulty reading .kindly give me a solution
This is a very old school way to calibrate a TT. Modern process calibrators from the like of GE, Beamex or Fluke have RTD simulation so a look up table required when using a decade box is elimated as they are calibrated and scaled in deg C or F. They also have HART com's as standard so the 475 shown in the video is elimated also. Using documenting features so you get your as found / left results and error calculations would massively speed up this video!
This is true, but these methods don't teach anyone about how the simulation works or where those values or resistance lookup tables originate from. Not everyone has fancy Beamex, Flukes etc. But yes I completely agree, it is a far more /efficient/ method.

Great Video, i have a question.
What is the spray that the engineer applies over transmitter at the end of the video?

no floating shields?

I can't understand a word they're saying.
so many alibaba, 1 man worked while 3 are supervisors muahahaha
Arnold Chavez : Actually, they were in training while watching how to do the work.
