The thing that always amazed me about these Viking offenses from '98 to 2000 was that on any given play, it seemed like that there was always two, maybe three guys wide open about 25 yards + down field. Saying that they were prolific would be a huge understatement.
Gosh what a perfect game all around on offense... Smith has 103yds rushing and 70yds receiving with a TD. Carter has 138yds with a TD and Moss has 106yds with a TD!
Bart Simpson is gangsta yep. It’s too bad he was always injured in the early part of his career. Never saw a player run so smooth and easy. He didn’t seem to be running fast, but no one could catch him.
One thing that separated him from the other great RB's of the Vikings was how rarely he'd fumble. he only had 9 fumbles his whole career. that's incredible!
Thanks for the upload... my few memories from this game: 1. Robert Tate was converted into a defensive back (cornerback) after playing as a receiver in college. 2. Steve Beuerlien was a hot commodity at QB after throwing for 30+ TDs the previous season 3. Kyle Wong and Tallance Sawyer: two guys I totally forgot wore Vikings uniform at some point (Wong was actually pretty good as a LB) 4. Robert Griffith had a knack for dropping easy interception 5. Jimmy Hitchcock was never any good
Maybe not so good, the Vikings made Wong eligible in the 2002 expansion draft, and Houston picked him up. The Vikings opted to sign veteran LB Greg Biekert from Oakland. There were also "rumors" floating around about Wong as well.
Thanks for the upload, great as usual. I especially love this era (late 90's early 2000's) keep em' coming. Let's hope 2018 is a good one, Skol Vikings!

If I'm not mistaken this was arguably one of the best seasons for the Vikings' coach Dennis Green - until the Giants upended them in the NFC title game.
They were better than what their record indicated, (11-5) they could have easily been 13-3 or maybe 14-2. Two losses to Green Bay that they should have won, and one at Indianapolis where they had secured the division title and basically had nothing to play for.
Could you Imagine are Vikes if Randy Moss & Adrian Peterson played at the same time .Or are Defense from the last few years had 98s Offense it's fun to fantasize.I just want a Super Bowl before I'm gone. GO VIKINGS!!👍🙏🙏👍🥳🥳☝️💪💪👍👍
Will never forgive Robert Smith for constantly ducking contact and running out of bounds on the put-away drive of the 1998 NFC Championship game. Had he stayed in bounds, Anderson may not have even needed to attempt the kick! Terrible mental mistakes proving VERY costly
Was personally told by OC Brian Billick, and Coach Green to do just that, STAY INBOUNDS!! to run out the game clock. And we all know the rest of the story.
The Panthers in 2000 were actually hyped to contend in the NFC after Steve Beuerlein threw for 4000 yards the year before. They signed the oldest former pro bowlers they could find in Eugene Robinson, Chuck Smith, Natrone Means (Played only one game) and Reggie White after a year retired. They fell flat on their face, going 6-10 beginning their rebuild.
And once again, a blown potentially game winning FG. Except it wasn't Gary Anderson, it was Mitch Berger. Berger mishandled the snap at the end of the Monday Night Green Bay game, sending it into OT. (Packers won) if they win that, their record probably ends at 12-4 and home field advantage in the NFC playoffs.
Vikes were 11-2 but lost their last three to finish 11-5. This is notable because even one more win could have earned Minnesota the 1 seed and would have placed the NFC Championship game in the Metrodome instead.
Yep and it was that fluky ass Packers Monday Night win where Antonio Freeman made the lucky catch, made possible by the carelessness and stupidity of Chris Dishman, that was the culprit.
@@Skazellino all they had to do was beat a very mediocre green Bay team at hike in the second to last week of the season too. They really let their season slip away, mainly defensively.

He was a big reason why they were so dominant in then90s.

Hitchcock Never any good?
He led the team with 7 INT’s and 3 TD’s in 1998.
@@jayNicks10 yes definitely was a stellar season.. but it was downhill after that season.
5:17 Reggie White and Korey Stringer R.I.P.
Not sure how you do it, but you're awesome funkydunkleman! Keep it up! SKOL!
Cris Carter caught everything thrown to him. Best hands in NFL history.
FACT!
This is when the MN Vikings were Dynamic!!
This game was my first ever Vikings game that I attended.

Man I loved Robert Smith! Second only to AD in Vikings history, I'd say.
Jim Blue agree.. he would have reached 10K if he didn’t retire early.
Way more complete of a player than AD though.
Robert Smith had some wicked speed ... olympics level athlete.
Yunush Smith was a WORLD CLASS 400M(45.5) runner while at Ohio St.
Dwight Love indeed.. he had a track and field scholarship in college year and would have made a name for himself no matter what sport he got into.

Yes. And in 98 they were 15-1 iirc
@@deanladue3151 and had they won both Green Bay games, they would’ve hosted the Giants.
They started 7-0 and went 4-5 down the stretch. Things had already gone downhill. The Giants just exposed the dysfunction.
That game was brutal for Minnesota. Lots of injuries in that game and their secondary got exploited

that was the most points the Vikings scored in a regular season game that year, and they should've had more that game.

robert smith is one of the best the vikes had he was big and very fast only injury prone among other things
Behind the great Chuck Foreman, my second favorite has always been Dr Smith... a great Buckeye and an even greater Viking !!!
1:57 YOU GOT MOSSED!
Wow to have that offense and this defense now got to be SB
This defense was 24th in points allowed
Hey do you have the home game against Green bay in 98’
Jimmy Hitchcock pick 6!
That game is on TH-cam now.
Randy Moss and Cris Carter on the field together. Damn I miss those days
Fast forward to 9:00 to see some basketball dribbling in a Football game 😂😂😂
Funny graphical error involving Robert Smith at the 3:10 mark.
