    For some reason, the thought of Jamie's ghost lingering and watching Claire left me very sad. It's so beautiful, yet his ghost must have been lingering alone for 200 years. It just broke my heart. I'm pretty sure when it is revealed all of us will shed a tear, but, hopefully, it will be tears of the warmth of endless love and not of the lingering alone... It's a very touching story. In the end, we all want to be enveloped in the warmth of true love that joins the 2 souls together forever... And meet again. In the warmth and the light of the soul.

    Can't wait to find out about the "ghost" Jamie that Frank sees! I have wondered about that since I read the books. One of my favorite scenes!!

      You should read the book nr 2 again, the night before Cullodden he brings Claire back to the stones, he then tells her, i come back to you i find you in 200 years, first i have to go trough purgatory, for all i did wrong, killing, stealing, betraying, and then he shall say to God, i did al that but God i thank you for one thing, you gave me a rare women. In this scène in the series as well in the book he promises Claire he wil find her. His goast is on the right place and time. He tels Claire about it in the book "In my own blood heart," he did see her trough a window in candlelight and she is brushing her hair.

    I found Diana Gabaldon's books by first watching the Starz show. I have to say I prefer the books so much more. I recommend them to anyone who enjoys the show. I can't wait for the 9th book!

    • @ItsMeCheryl1231

      WAY more detail and stories. The show really has to cut a lot out to make each book into 13 episodes. I'd prefer a 50 episode season!!

    You gotta love it when Maril Davis becomes a fangirl again during her discussion with Diana about the 9th book. It was, afterall, her doing along with Terry Dresbach who pushed for the series to begin with to Dresbach’s husband Ronald D Moore.

    I love the continuity of Bear in all my favorite series; Firefly, Serenity, Joss Wheadon stuff, Battlestar Galactica, and anywhere my ears pick up his sound. Having Bear on Outlander brought me to the series! And just like a bear, we stand in awe and let him do what he wills. So grateful.

    Some of the moments I love from the frist books are Claire's descriptions about Jamie's SPORRAN. There are two scenes that I found really special.
    The first one is in Outlander book, after Claire's first attemp to take Jamie out of jail and the gaols. She's given a box with his belongings, and without opening it, she makes a mental list of the objects collected inside his sporran... the simple things that would be left of him by the next day. Deeply heartwrenching, and poetic too. In the series, Caitriona does a great job, falling on her knees. We cannot hear the words in Claire's mind, though...
    The other - beautiful!-scene is in "Dragonfly in amber" book, but it has not been included in the series. Back in Scotland, during the peaceful interlude before the war, Jamie brings a small present to Clare for their marriage aniversary: a simple piece of amber. He carries it in his sporran together with some honey "stones", and as they look the same, he licks each of them to identify the rock... Funny and cute.!
    There are many other small comments Claire makes about the sporran. I think the contents of this item tells us indirectly a lot about Jamie.

    I just donated and it feels so good! I think I will make this a habit. As a retired nurse, I appreciate all the medical and dental personnel who make the sacrifice of their time, expertise and money to make healthcare available to people in need across the world. My former dentist was traveling with Dentists Without Borders to provide care for years! I worked with doctors and nurses who also volunteered with DWB! I only have admiration for their commitment! During this pandemic, they are bravely going forward despite risks to themselves and others. Thank you to all involved with this project from the author to the cast and crew!! I miss you so very much!

    Diana has such a certain way of speaking, almost sounds like she has an accent, but impossible to place. It sounds epic, like she’s a figure in a play from another time. Her way of speaking reminds me of a more subtle version of Dr. Jean Houston’s way of speaking, which is very epic and noble sounding as well. I wonder why she sounds so different from most people, in a special way.

      I lived in Arizona for sometime but she is a "native" from there. She was born in Flagstaff and lived around the Valley most of her life. I haven't heard anyone talk like her. It is also like she speak as if she is almost going to laugh almost always a light hearted / being excited and being sophisticated. Maybe she developed this over the years to make her students in ASU more interested in her class.

    Jamie must have died briefly on Culloden Moor, and his ghost sought out Claire. He is young in that first episode so it had to have been at that time. Either that or it was a dream state of some sort at that time - I think that was mentioned somewhere along the way as a possible explanation.

      I think you're right. And if the timeline is correct and Jamie's time is 3 years ahead than current day Claire's, she wouldn't have gone back yet.

    When Breanna shot Stephen Bonnet, I believe it was because she had to know without a doubt that he was really and finally dead! It did so happen to help out the pirate/smuggler in that he didn't drown, but that was secondary to Bree doing something herself because she wanted it done right!

    • @saddleridge4364
      @saddleridge4364 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think she did it for both reasons, she was genuinely moved when he told her of his nightmares about drowning, and because they thought he was dead several times and he kept coming back!

    • @hilbina
      @hilbina 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You must have heard Diana say it was mercy from Breana in her opinion and how she wrote it, and Maril, from the book perspective that it was both mercy and closure.
      I guess those are the explanations?

      It’s January 2021 and I just found it on TH-cam. I have all the books and have read them again and again. I’m glad they kept Murtaugh alive. He’s a great character, serious, pouty and terribly humorous too. Good change. I am enjoying it. People who haven’t read the books don’t get all the violence. They obviously can’t imagine living back then. It was violent and was not a particularly pleasant time in history, for women.

      @@trinitydanceprosser3589 I don't think Jamie can time travel. It's been addressed in the books a couple times that he can't hear/feel the stones so he can't travel. In the books he has also had dreams of the future, even though he's never seen it himself. But who knows really, stranger things have happened in the series lol.

    Solo me gustaría mucho saber que no es una serie con un final en el que muere alguno de los dos protagonistas por eso es muy fácil, me gustaría mucho un final donde los dos pueden ser recordados por sus descendencia cuando esos viejos cuentan la historia de amor a través del tiempo y este no es cruzado en vano, dejen ver que hay mucho más que un historia de amor, que hay mucho por salvar de la humanidad matrimonios con una gran capacidad de adaptación, ternura, paciencia y que se pueden salvar extraordinarios matrimonios ejemplares para las siguientes generaciones, que eso no se pierda, es una esperanza de vida a través de los tiempos!!!!!!!!!! En esta situación de covid.

      Ana Plata, la escritora,Diana Gabaldon está terminando el libro 9 y dice tener partes del 10 flotando. Los protagonistas principales siguen, solo ella Sabra como los hará envejecer/ terminar. Sabes que sus primeros libros salieron hace 20 años? Y fue la esposa del productor que los leyó y lo convenció que los llevara a la televisión. 😊
