Fun to see Jean wirwith a small group. Would appreciate the question, or have a microphone for the audience; thank you. Glad you noted other comments about wanting a closer view...
The camera needed to be more on what Jean is doing...there were times I couldn't see her hands at all. TY.. Love the demonstration just wanted to see more of it.
Thank you so much for sharing your skills and thoughts about design in this video. I bought your book in 2009, read it and enjoyed it so many times but had never tried any of the techniques you describe. I cannot wait to get started on a new journey of discovery. Kindest regards from Teresa. Essex, U.K.
Hi Cheryl, I'm not sure I understand your question, but I'll give it a shot. Jean usually constructs her curved pieces in sections then combines them. In the blue and green quilt she has two main sections where she rotated the direction of the pieced strips. The top strips run horizontal and the bottom vertical. I hope that helps.
This was very insipirational...thank you! You talked of a 5 month course...Adventurous Quilting or something like that. How can I find out about that? What is the cost? Has it already started?
Hi Ruth, There is currently a session of Adventures in Art quilting going on. We will be offering it again in the spring though. Sign up for our newsletters if you want to be sure to know when it's available for sign up.
We sell two Eversewn machines that have a drop in bobbin. We love the quality of this brand so we offer them, but otherwise we don't sell machines. If you want to call the shop (541-549-6061) they can tell you more about them.
Sorry no, that's a Jean Wells original using no ruler cutting. She goes into more detail for the technique in her book if you're interested stitchinpost.com/products/intuitive-color-design-book-2nd-ed?_pos=2&_psq=intuit&_ss=e&_v=1.0
Hi Marilyn, The video was taken last summer and at the time face shields were recommended by the state. We're learning and adapting like everyone else. Thanks for watching.
Jean, it was so much fun being "in the classroom" with you again!
Holy moly..it’s just what I was looking for.....!..thankyou both....🙋🏼♀️🌻
You’re welcome 😊
Very nice class. I was so happy that I could hear Jean today as the class from the other day, she faded in and out.
Just what I was looking for...thank and God bless you.
Gilly wife of Mark in Norfolk UK
You're very welcome
My art teacher would say. Stop, dont throw that away, YOU CANT MESS UP ART! Here is the proof! Wonderful class!
Thanks for the great feedback.
What a fun liberating way to be creative.
Glad you like it!

Great ideas and techniques-thank you. I just wish we could have had closeups of what you were doing. Your work is beautiful.
Thanks - I'll pass your request on to Val.
Hi Jean. Just found you. You are inspiring. Thanks for posting about this creative quilting idea.
You are so welcome! Glad you found us.
Mesmerizing! These are things I've wandered about! Now we know, it works! Great skill noted here, in all areas!
Yay! So happy to hear you found a new skill. Ruler-less cutting is lots of fun!
Love the look. I’m a newbie and really wish I could see your process up close!
Come visit us some time :)
Jean you are adorable thank you for the inspiration !

Beautiful work!
Thank you very much!
I'm so happy that I found your channel. This video was so helpful. I love your teaching method. Thank you :)
Welcome!
I like when someone in the audience mentions a product I am not familiar with. We all learn differently.
Fabriculous! Love this technique, I love the Gee’s Bend Quilts too. Thank you for the video
You are so welcome!
Jean. I took a class with you many years ago in Pleasanton CA, we were doing jackets.
Hi Vickie, Thanks for visiting.
You don't need to cut the second piece, you can just sew the prior piece to the whole(uncut) piece. It will turn out the same when you press it.
very helpful, thank you
You're welcome!
I would love to know how the very long pieces are sewn into the quilt that are extensions of the color in the smaller blocks. of

Please teach again online. Thank you!
I would like to know the brand/model of the sewing machine and iron Jean Wells is using.
Jean is using the store demo model of the EverSew Sparrow 20

@@Stitchinpost Thank you. I will find your newsletter and sign up.
Thank you, I was always wondering how to do this.
Glad we could help
Can you suggest a sewing machine with a drop in bobbin, I'm tired of having to open the little door underneath to put in a new bobbin

Your wavy lines remind me of a colored bottle display. I would call it a bottle top square.
Thank you
Also do you have a pattern for the yellow wall hanging behind you in this video?

I would like to know the brand of the sewing chair, too.
The chair is a basic office chair. It's pretty old and no one seems to know anything else about it. Sorry, I don't have more info for you.
Thank you Jean.
Excelente👍
Could i have the names that were those books on the table ..very interested
Do you mean Jean's books? If so they are Intuitive Color and Design, and Journey to Inspired Art Quilting. You can find them both at stitchinpost.com
Hi Where is your state and town. Thanks
We're in Sisters, Oregon
Thank you for this video; wished your camera person could have gotten closer to see you actually sew these.
Thanks for the suggestion. This is one of our earlier videos and we're getting better, but there is always room for improvement!
Great but it is a great shame there aren’t enough close ups.
Thanks for the suggestion
That shield doesn’t protect you or anyone else. The moving air carries those particles both ways around that shield. It isn’t safe!
Hi Marilyn, The video was taken last summer and at the time face shields were recommended by the state. We're learning and adapting like everyone else. Thanks for watching.

Great class, love Jean's work but video and editing quality is very bad.
Thanks for the feedback and for watching. We're learning and trying to improve with each video
yes - love the topic but the camera work needs improvement......it is also very blurry...
It’s not close enough.
Thanks for your feedback.
I love this work but I think you need to get closer to her working. Not great videographer
Working on it! Hopefully our more recent videos are improved.
Thank you for this video; wished your camera person could have gotten closer to see you actually sew these.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Very Blurry at times
