- Hey guys! It's HyRoolLegend coming at you guys with another video of Cookie Run Kingdom. So, the new update has gone live and we have our new super-epic: Oyster Cookie! However, with all the hype and trailer videos that were shared with us before her release, I personally want to say, she is not the cookie that we expected her to be from the trailer video. She definitely is alright to use and cane be used in certain teams, but I feel like she is not going to be a must-have cookie in the current meta over other summoners/supports. Another okay-ish cookie isn't that bad for the game environment, although that can only be said for cookies like afoghatto and cherry blossom, who weren't in a rarity made solely for 2 cookies like Oyster was. And to worsen it all Clotted was already under powered in his early days, something that already made the super epic hype fade away a lot, Oyster was their chance at redeeming the super epics, and they lost that chance, at least for now. What I want to say is that her underperforming wouldn't be such a letdown if she wasn't marketed as a special, powerful cookie. I mean, she has the newest rarity, a special banner instead of a normal one, a harder pull rate and was the only cookie released in a very awaited update. With this result, the arena (which is already quite predictable and boring) will probably not see changes, and the same can be said for guild battle, alliance, world exploration and such... No doubt they will buff her though
Sorry for this big rant lol, I, like a lot of players was quite excited for Oyster, such a cool design and a unique skill feature, just to not be useful. Just imagine if the same had happened with Dark Cacao, Frost Queen, or the soon to be realeased Fire spirit and Golden Cheese? Players would feel betrayed like we are feeling now, because *we expect these cookies to be good*
I agree with you completely, especially on the reason why people were excited and looking forward to her. She was the only cookie coming out with no new epic, she is a super-epic, and just portrayed to be a strong cookie especially during the trailer videos. So I can definitely feel why people are disappointed, me included.
@@roge2342 Well, there's always the possibility that a cookie will suck. So many epics are useless and have been so since release, and some epics are preferable to Ancients. You never know what you'll get, which sucks 😞

I think the reason the Super Epics start out underwhelming is because they're guranteed free cookies (if you do the event)
They cant make a free cookie more OP than a gacha cookie (besides Tea Knight but he's very niche and has a specific condition to become OP)
What about the ancients though? They’re gacha’s are just like the super epics

@@skizzpulse Probably because you can't get them completely for free (Barring Frost Queen) without paying. I recall always being a few draws short of getting the Nether Gacha guarantee. Unlike for Super Epics being that you will get them if you are a vigilant F2P player

If I understand The problem isn't that shes bad no no not at all but compared to the trailer she did not deliver The expectation and role she was supposed to fill especially as a super epic, her not meeting these expectations made her feel a bunch of people a bit disappointed
she may need a buff like clotted cream and I hope she can enter the meta if said buff comes

Hey so I have a question. For his Oyster cookie, the oyster minions stay until basically the whole oyster cooldown. For my oyster the minions last until Oyster’s cooldown is at 5 seconds. How do you get the minions to stay longer?
The pin cushion treasure would help you, it makes the summoned creatures stay longer, also increasing their atk

I think the amount of cooldown needed for maximum soldiers should be decreased.
As a free to play player knowing that a good amount of topping pieces needed to actually get her to her maximum potential idk if i would invest in her first rather than eclair or even cotton i watched your live and saw how despite her at 3 stars she still deals less damage than cotton so unless she gets a buff or even just a balance i would say that for newer players or even those who are in the mid point investing into eclair or even cotton would be better just a though tho….
my goal is to get all the ancients and legendaries and beating all of the episodes in world exploration without buying anything
I would say eclair and cotton are the op cookies that you should definitely invest in first. I'm a f2p player, I three starred story mode from 1-1 until 14-5 with the exception of 13-30 within 4 months. Both of them never left my team, they are in my arena team as well.
Eclair and Cotton is a must for a every player to maximize first. Since you can use both of them in the arena, PvE, and Guild Battle.
Oh really? I just got her so I'm kinda disappointed, as I have both eclair and cotton. Hopefully she gets a buff in the future then I might upgrade her

It's hard for any new cookie to outclass them really, but still dissapointed in how oyster turned out

i kind of had a feeling that devsis would under develop oyster the way they did to clotted cream, which is really disappointing to see it happening again. how is it that epics like wildberry, crunchy chip, cotton, or older ones like twizzly and sorbet shark have decent skills but the super epics so far are underpowered initially twice?? i really hope the next time they release another super epic, they design the skills properly. just like the ancients and legendaries, one would think that super epics are as decent as epics, and more powerful in skills + power.
edit: after the latest video of oyster, I'm pretty sold on oyster now due to her positively insane buffs. i still have a gripe with the cooldown aspect, but she's great with the right ways.
it's not underdeveloping, I think it's balancing because if Oyster starts with 4 summons without the CD-based nerf, everyone who has her 5 starred max would be unfair for those who doesn't
You can buff a weak character, but it’s usually more controversial to nerf a strong character because of the people that spent money.

My two cents: I agree that she's not bad, IF you can build her correctly. And that's a HARD 'if'. She's SO TOPPING-DEPENDENT it's crazy - unless you're SUPER lucky and have insanely good swift chocolate toppings and substats, you're gonna have to *choose* between maximum number of soldiers, and having enough DMG resist/attack/crit to actually DO anything with them. It feels like she's asking the player way too much, as opposed to Eclair and Cotton who can perform amazingly well with multiple different topping settings and you don't have to do so much MATH.
At this point, they have to buff her. Too many people are complaining. I don't remember the original Clotted getting as much backlash as this is, so yeah.
But yeah, she's not a bad cookie, and I feel like people calling her bad are overreacting.
.....And I can't be mad about this update cuz of PV's costume

Honestly to me this update was a huge letdown. It was hyped up *so* much and me and other players I’m sure we’re excitingly waiting for this update. I’m upset that oyster was such a huge letdown, as it seemed she could turn the super epic popularity around. She seemed like she would make the arena and other game modes exciting and finally change the arena team setup around. But since she was a disappointment and there was not a single other cookie that came out today honestly made this update pretty boring, especially when I was originally incredibly excited for it to come out. The costumes were very cool, but honestly that shouldn’t have to make up for this update that was marketed as being incredibly massive and special. Honestly really upset.
They should decrease her cooldown by a lot since that's the only thing holding her back

They could give her like a 13 or even a 15 sec cooldown, and that would even be better than 17 secs... Cream Puff is a good example, cuz before they buffed her she was useless and then they just put her 15 secs cooldown (17 secs were before) and BOOM, she became a meta cookie for a short time, but a meta cookie after all.

@@daridon2483 no only the cooldown requirement, her purpose is to support not dealing damage (I’m looking at you eclair and cotton). She’s a crit aoe buff and tanks which is already good. Nerf the cooldown requirement and she will be fine.
This cookie is like Licorice Cookie which is a "Swift Choco Dependent Cookie" (Unless u can have a Lv. 12 Jelly Watch)
Also she is a support. Not a Charge/Magic Cookie.
She needs a buff, like a little heal, More Damage. and not just adding some CRIT stats.

Whoever at Devsis did the beta testing for the two super epics seemed to be doing a very lackluster job lately. Why are they repeating the same mistake that Clotted Cream's release had? Two updates back to back. This kinda ruined the hype of Super Epic.
She was honestly very underwhelming for being a super epic.She needs a buff like a big one
Complete disagree. This is a perfect example of how a cookie can be built to be a perfect addition to team synergy rather than being a broken cookie.
Her increasing crit % makes crit focused teams stronger, which in turn makes healers stronger too. I used her in one team today and got almost 9 million damage out of my dark cacao who is running apple jelly toppings.
It’s a focus that people sadly aren’t seeing yet because of the standard way of building and using cookies.
Get oyster to max cd of 25% for before set bonus, with a dr of 30% and a attack of 15% and you’ll easily see her power. I’m not even at that level of toppings yet and the two teams I had her in, I was pleasantly happy.

I get the feeling they want to slowly buff up Super Epics rather than nerf them if they come out too strong, so I appreciate that the 2 we've seen so far started out a bit weaker. It's also nice as a F2P player since it gives me time to get her before she's meta lol

As a tip, instead of trying the combos in arena, I can suggest to ask a friend or someone you may know to make a good used combo then you can free battle against them instead so you may not worry about losing trophies bc i feel your pain when your losing ‘em. idk if this may help you or not :(

I feel like the amount of starter Soldier is too low (only 1) and 18% CD per soldier is tooo high. Her buffs are definitely helpful, but the drawback is that the soldiers doesn’t last long enough to take advantage of these buffs. She’s also very dependent on CD toppings, that is, unless you want only 3 soldiers which cuts her damage and tanking capabilities. The problem with all CD toppings is her damage resist will be compromised and she’ll die too quickly. She’s very hard to build (you need fully upgraded Clock thingy and high enough Pin Cushion) with little benefit. I mean if you need a summoner why not just use Cotton instead.
I think the best buff they can do is actually increase the starting soldiers into 2 so that maximum soldiers is 5, also reduce CD of her skill where she only has 2 secs window of not having her soldiers. I’m fine with the soldiers not doing too much damage, just need them to be constantly there and be reliable damage soakers. Additionally, I think she shud have a damage sharing effect with her individual soldiers where 5% of damage on her will be distributed to her soldiers INDIVIDUALLY that means she can basically have 25% damage reduct if she has 5 soldiers, in that way, investing CD on her won’t be a total waste.
This was so disappointing, we all were so excited for her release, but it turns out she's very weak and useless, especially being a super epic. The arena has not changed at all, I expected her to be like what the trailer is, but no..Not close at all, ( i guess ) Also, the lack of support powders, i had two. Two pristine powders, embarrassing
I would say she is not completely “useless” but definitely underwhelming considering she is a super-epic. She can show results if used in a team made for her/toppings that is better optimized. However, she is nothing everyone needs to rush for as of now. (But I wish they made her a little bit closer to how the video was)

My luck sucks, I literally had 40,000 crystals,I did so many pulls and now I only have 1,000 crystals with no oyster cookie…
Same, I was so overhyped and wasted 42k crystals trying to get atleast a *SINGLE* Oyster's cookie soulstone and... I got absolutely nothing. I feel dumb, I was grinding my crystals for weeks and got really nothing, just some Ancient and Legendary soulstones but nothing impressive! Seeing Oyster cookie being *obnoxiously* attached to cooldown percentages feels underwhelming, not gonna lie... :|

Like the way this unit is designed is just bizarre. A Cookie who requires cooldown buffs to meet their full potential, but is not only squishy enough so she doesn't compensate but the summoned units aren't even all that impressive apart from the Crit Dmg buff. No idea what they were thinking here

24.3% is quite literally near impossible for almost anybody. They need to reduce the max cool-down of her skill. 17 seconds is EXTREMELY LONG

i think the reason they always underpower super epic cookies its because the gacha law, with the law u can't directly nerf characters (in this case cookies). So the only things they can do for making the game still balanced now is by underpowering it and then buff when neccesary to match the expectation.
Mkay, here's some view from me. I feel like's going to be buffed in the future just like clotted cream. But the 5-6 million dmg in the trailer was probably quickly realized to be overpowered. She's great but not amazing right now. But it's definitely disappointing.

I believe its 49.3% making it 24.3% which is at least 0.2% lower for anything missing that extra 0.2%

I was saving so many star jellies for her but since clotted cream got a buff later in his release, that means oyster probably will as well. Should I still save up my star jellies or just spend them on leveling up my team right now?

I really feel as if Oyster is host a worst version on Cotton. Cotton can do more damage in MOST situations and can also heal. Also the cooldown on Cotton is a lot more effective than it is on Oyster. I wouldn't build Oyster unless you don't have cotton.
Looking at her right now, she looks pretty bad but i think something similar will happen like with clotted cream and she will get buffed and become a useable and good cookie but not required for anything

maybe that oyster cookie needs to buff her as well so she can be prove that she is meta with other crunchy comps as well in arena!
I honestly prefer that they release underpowered cookies and buff them to a good level like they did with clotted. Makes it to where it’s not immediately a must have cookie and we get compensation awards after the rework 😁
The fact you need so much cooldown to max her potential is somewhat false advertising since we were under the impression that we would get 4 soldiers off bat. We also can’t get 24% cooldown that easily while actually having a good amount of damage resist on said toppings due to how bad the topping system is cost wise(amount of toppings required)as well as rng wise(the high chance of failure+hoping for high dmg resist rolls). Would be better if we could reroll the substat or choose which one we want for it to roll for the first major upgrade. Plus her cooldown is insanely long, granted if you have max out cushion you can have almost 100% uptime. But at the moment she seems so mid and compared to how hard she is to build as well as the other options in the arena she comes off as a bad cookie sorta.
I think they should buff oyster cookie, decrease the cooldown, buff the damage, etc.

something your forgetting is shes buffing ur other cookies damage so she is fairly stronger than this video portrays
Definitely true since her damage is not the only thing that should be considered for her since she is doing much more than just damage.

Haiya she looks underwhelming as a Super Epic. She was hyped to be the next powerhouse support, and yet she is nowhere near as good as meta supports rn (I was even extremely eager to take her as a staple member of my team, but she is way below my expectation). Hopefully she gets a buff like Clotted Cream Cookie, and a HUGE buff.

I feel like Oyster can be REALLY strong in a summoner team ( I use Crunchy - Pumpkin - Oyster - Cotton - Parf and had a ~ 85 % Winrate in border m2 pv server in around 25 or so matches ) but I think that they should change it to where Oyster starts with like 2-3 soldiers but you'll need a lot cd for an extra soldier . Personally the fact that Oyster starts with ONE soldier feels pretty underwhelming which makes having some cd toppings on her a necessity to be usable , overall though I think Oyster is really strong in PVE and can be really good in arena in the right summoner team .

Can you try oyster with twizzly cookie? I feel like people didn't notice twizzly got indirect buff by the crit dmg landmark and now the release of oyster with her crit buffs with also CRIT build crunchy chip cookie it could be a great team

As of now I saw that you need like 24.5% cooldown (possibly a bit lower) to get 4 Soldiers, it's so weird though xd

Eclair will definitely help out in a lotttt of different gamemodes so invest in him if you need to choose between the two

The pattern w/ how devsis is gonna do the super epics is:
1. make them" ✨UNDERWHELMING✨" AKA incomplete and unfinished
2. wait for ppl to say "Hey wait a minute we've been scammed this is underwhelming"
3. Say "we've listened to the community and hear your concerns about this super epic cookie being underwhelming a buff is in order" aka "we hear you and now we're going to finish the super-epic and put it in as a 'buff'."

6. wait for the community to say "yay they're not underwhelming anymore" and move on with their day without us knowing that they're purposefully making the cookies incomplete so they can scam ppl out of their time and give them stuff afterwards.
edit: the reason why I call them unfinished/ incomplete is because I'm actually starting to think thats what they're doing. a finished super-epic should not be underwhelming if it is supposed to be more powerful than an epic. this is my opinion not facts. just a clarification.
