I agree, my 95 SL2 is getting a forged bottom end and E85 and 10 PSI as we speak. And my friend is going to make a cat back exhaust for the Turbo set up out of titanium, etc.
I had a 1998 SL2 5-speed which I loved and miss dearly. Other than the 90's GM build quality and the relatively large turning circle for a car its size, it was probably the best and most fun 4-cylinder car I've ever had. The 1.9 twincam engine had more low-end torque and generally a more forgiving power band than my 1992 Prizm or 2001 Accord, and I would definitely recommend a Saturn to someone looking for a car to learn to drive stick shift on. And amazingly, mine had zero oil consumption, I always heard that was a bad habit of Saturns but it never happened to me. My Accord on the other hand, I have to add a quart of oil every 500 to 1000 miles!

Bought a 1995 SL2 last winter, still having it. I owned 26 cars in my life and for now it's clearly one of my favorites. That was so unexpected. I just thought that would be a car that would last the whole winter and turn to junk. Finally i'm selling all my cars to keep it. That car is 22 years old, 280 000kms, no check engine, everything works totally fine, the car don't even consume oil. The best 700$ i spent so far. I envy that 90-94 dash, probably as poorly made as mine but looking way better in my opinion.
If you get this body trim with the fual over head cam 4 speed manual they are faster then all the honda civics and other cars similar to it back then. When i raced oval track fwd 4 cylinder class every single car was that car in video with dual overhead cam 4 soeed manual version only car that couldnt be beat due to the weight habdeling and power it offers. If a honda or anything else showed up they got smoked. Only car i was able to beat the saturbs when we raced those when i was 10 back in 2002 was a chevy cailer 92 with the 2.1 4 cylinder and would only beat them kn a brand new rebuilt motor after 4 races it eas a turd again

Saturns lacked the oil drain back holes needed for the new (at the time) 5W-30 oil . Which is why they burned the oil, it also depended what oil you used. In the end all cars burn oil when you neglect them. Saturns and pontiacs lasted longer than chevrolets and gmc vehicles, which again is why you still see em on the road.
I had a 94 Homecoming ed. It was a 5spd no sun roof. I miss that car. had about the same miles on it when i sold it to my parents. Never let me down. My mom still drives it once a week. Its their spare car.
I'd keep all 3 cars the bug the Saturn and the accord. I would drive the Saturn on weekends. And the accord the rest of the week I drive my Saturn ion all the time I with I could drive my other car some to which is a 1982 jaguar but I'll take my Saturn any day over the old jag. The jag was my first car.
I'm not paying insurance, taxes and gas on 3 cars along with the fact that my family doesn't have the space for 5 cars total for 3 people. The Saturn went to a good home with someone who is daily driving it just like I was and they are planning to fix most of the little things I just didn't have the time or patience for. In the end I got a better car and sold this one for a profit so I'm happy.
Oh that's good that a good home was found and yeah insurance gas and taxes will kill somebody. Liability and comprehensive on my jaguar was $1,200 when it was insured and then my Saturn full coverage is $1,700 so yeah insurance was about $2,900

$1250. I could have gotten more but the buyer's car had been stolen a few days before and he needed cheap transportation, was going to take car of the few issues the car had and overall loved it. In the end I'm not mad because I still made a profit off of it!
