The semicorporeal nature of the shield wielded by the Swordhands of Night gives it good defense against non-physical attacks. It can also fire a projectile that grows stronger if an attack was blocked beforehand.
Wow malenia actually lost a fight, that honestly makes placidusax's and elden beast's performances even more impressive. Also speaking about placidusax's fight i loved how jolan started panick roll spamming and somehow dodged placidusax's attack this way at 12:51

The only reason Malenia lost is because her AI never uses the waterfowl dance
She simply didn't have time to use it, and the AI stupidity applies to other bosses too, such as Maliketh.
