Hey Zee - what was that game you mentioned? Cryptos? I could not find it on BGG. I found Decrypto, and Crypto and variants - assuming Crypto, could you let us know which variant were you referring to enjoying?
It's pretty good at 2 players, each player has two separate boards, each sorted numerically. You must call from one of yours to one of your partner's boards, so it works pretty well.
Don't know what gets added in the later missions, but it doesn't look like it for the basic game. Whatever you point at in another player's hand, its value becomes public information, either from being cut, or having an info token added. EDIT: Actually, if you use the double detector and fail, only one of the two tiles you point at gets revealed, so you have to remember that the other one isn't the number you guessed.
Those stand mics change the atmosphere for the worse. Instead of it feeling like two bros chatting it comes across more corporate or something. It feels off. Some of it might be that it forces your posture to conform to the mics limitations of movement.
I'm sure the mic stands are more for them for the reduced upkeep. I imagine it's a lot easier to sit down in front of a mic ready to go rather than having to mic yourself up and take it off etc. a bit of an eye sore? Probably. More practical? Most likely.
I saw this review posted, looked at the box cover, and immediately scrolled on past. The name "Bomb Busters" combined with the children's cartoon-style artwork made it look like a kid's game and is a real "no thank you" for me. I don't mind cartoony art, but this looks like something you would see on Nick Jr. or Disney Jr. alongside things like Bluey. I'm sure there would never be a kid's show named "Bomb Busters" but even so, it doesn't sound like something for anyone over the age of 13. Then, I saw this mentioned on your top 10 deduction games, so had to come back and check out the review to get more info. I love deduction games so much. I don't get to play them, because I think that I may be one of the only people in my groups that really like deduction. However, I wonder if this is one I could get people to actually play. I just really think the name combined with the art style might actually be doing this game a bit of a disservice.
Totally agree. Fortunately, my family did some research including watching this review and gave this to me as a Christmas present. My wife knows we tend to have similar taste to Zee. But if I saw this box at a game store, I would definitely pass it up based on the childish artwork.
Tom's outfit looks like he found a new fashion store in GTA. I love it.
lol
I like the new mics.
'they fall over easily" - Chris
I had a dream last night were Zee visited the town I was in, he went into this bg local store and was greeted like a rockstar
It's true, I was there
Sounds like Tom's family had a blast
What great insights in to the game.
Love the new mics!

It's the bom, thankz
You can tell how good the game is when everyone just comments on Tom's outfit and the new mics.
Wonder if this will be any good 2 player or just not worth it

Is there a memory element in this when clues are given?

Hell of a lot better than Tom’s mic constantly rustling in his shirt.
I agree. They have been doing the mic stands for a while now and I really don't like them. They make it look less 'homey'

Will you be reviewing Andromedas Edge soon???
Played this at a cafe last night... Too bad the components are so, so, soooo fiddly.
cooperative kryptos!

The name is generic, but the art is cool
Sounds like you've got distaste to kawaii
