Jamie.. Very nice. Going to download the material. Always learning. Had my first jazz guitar lessons circa 1983. Started guitar on 1 string 1962. We all have those aha moments.. 10 years ago, I realized you could play the Cmaj7 Dmin 7 Emin 7 Fmaj7 G7 Amin7 Bmim7b5 Cmaj7 all at the 8 thru 11 fret on all strings in a downward motion.
The more I worked with it.. the better my lead guitar became. Eg. I could find min 3rds, maj 3rds, fourths, fives, 6, 7,9.. The best

eighth note might be common, but another mistake is to over exaggerate the swung eighth. The triplet might be a good intro, but notes get their lilt from hearing the subdivisions and grooves in your head. IE, you might play an eighth note phrase--but you hear "the charleston" or "who parked the car" or other rhythmic figures in your head. Oddly enough, playing straighter eighths as even as possible and then laying in the accents and articulations (reference the source material, whether you coped the line from a horn, guitar, piano, vocal) in afterwards. I only say this because I'm currently wringing out the last bits of "janky eighth note feel" that plague many amateur jazz guitarists like myself.
Great video. One thing that you could add under language is the ability to think, hear, and play in two and four bar phrases (they get longer from there). IE, understanding where a phrase ends is even more important than understanding where it begins. To compare it to an actual language, you need to learn how to punctuate your solo. Did I communicate that correctly?

I value your lessons, but you're so faint - maybe not the best of mics. I listen to many TH-cam channels and it really isn't my speakers or their volume. Regards!
