Hey! I have watched your channel for awhile now and I detail boats for a living. For a normal washdown you shouldn't use harsh chemicals every time. If you have a protectant on the fiberglass it will shorten it's life. For cleaning the deck I normally use Spray Nine but I don't spray it everywhere. Just stubborn spots. Scrub it in with some boat soap(don't use dawn or other dish soap!) with a deck brush and it usually does the trick. I seen in another comment you talked about sealing the deck. I personally don't put anything on the deck because sometimes they become slippery. A good pass with compound should keep it looking good and easier to clean. If you are going to wax the boat I suggest a polymer sealant over wax. It lasts longer in saltwater use. I use Jescar Power Lock plus. If you want any tips let me know! I'm always willing to give some.
@@whywedrink Yes compound it then seal it with something. For floors i use either the Jescar or McKee 37 hydro blue coating. Prefer the McKees because it doesn't make it slippery.
Very nice video, as you said the starbrite doesnt seems to leave any protection, but i m pretty sure the bleech will etch the gelcoat the more and more you use it without protecting it with any wax after the use😊
If my grandparents were still living they would’ve picked Comet out of the line up before your test. There wasn’t a room in their house that they didn’t have a container of Comet. Last time I bought the product, Home Depot sold the large container for $1.00. (I bought 8)
Although Comet may have one, you have to take into consideration that it’s an abrasive, therefore, even though it looks the cleanest, it will be the one who becomes the dirtiest because you have opened up the pores of your deck.
I have a he'll of a time washing my sea ray diamond non skid. I have tried starbrite deck cleaner, on off hull cleaner, bartenders friend, bleech and dish soap, toilet bowl cleaner, degreaser, orpine, meguiars wash and wax. I have even tried a stiff brush on my da polisher. Cannot getting damn non skid clean
Starbrite with PTFE is the best. Rinse Apply Rinse Apply again if needed Rinse Done No damage No heavy scrubbing The product works when used according to directions. DON’T USE COMET!
My man please stop using household chemicals on your boat! Bleach and mold/mildew remover is ok once in a while but not regular, it’s harmful to the finish of the gelcoat! Especially that comet, you basically sanding on it the. Not putting anything to protect it back on top! Stick with the deck cleaner or a good APC, Poorboys world has a good one and so does American detail garage. Combine the APC eith a heavy duty magic eraser to get the stubborn stains off, then either use a marine sealant or wax on top to keep the staining from coming back! Or you can go as far as I do and polish the nonskid with a shurhold brush and orbital polisher with Smoove wax and seal it afterward!!!! That boat is too damn nice to be grinding on it with comet!!!!
I have the wax/sealant from starbrite on order now along with the orbital polisher and brush setup you mentioned. The starbrite cleaner is what I always use, I was just curious of what others would do. The comet was non scratching and it did an amazing job, but like I said in the video I kinda figured it wasn't good for the boat. I have never sealed the deck with a wax so I'm curious what these Starbrite wax will do, because those deck stains can be annoying to get off.
Southern Reels Fishing I’m in no way affiliated with them but I have found Smoove Wax to be amazing!!!! I’ve done a few boats now and using there polish with the brush and polished produces awesome results!

Thanks for the feed back. I will definitely look into these products and techniques!
Kyle S Do you compound the non-skid, then use Jescars?

It did win but I don't use it unless nothing else works. And then I seal the area with a deck sealer or wax
you got that right!!!
Cleaning vinegar and Dawn dishwashing liquid. Spray-on let sit for 10- 15 minutes hit with brush it's amazing
Will have to check it out
That’ll strip protection too much.

No I haven't heard about that yet. They also bought a shop out in the Outer Banks last year
@@SouthernReelsFishing It was on Chris's Facebook Page. Sorry to see them give it up but a lot of businesses are folding now, unfortunately.

They all work to some level, I'm always trying new things and discovering better products. Right now I'm using Woody Wax BOAT SOAP ULTRA PINE
FSR for rust and non oil based stains and once a year hit thr decks with a wool coumpounding pad and somethinf like 3M all in one compound.
Thanks for the tips!

Seems you have tried most of the tricks...Try a shit load of comet and the DA brush...IDK
@@SouthernReelsFishing I have some comet and bleech I'll try that. If don't work I'll get it as clean as I can then compound it
@@timothyberlinski2299did it work?
Will any of these cleaners work against COVID-19?
Comet has bleach, so it would. Probably super clean as well
Awesome review!!!!

Southern Reels Fishing they just came out with a ceramic based sealant, between that and maintaining with a spray wax should save you a lot of work
I knew it comet!
Still works the best
abrasives always win ;-)
Yup true that!
