  • The Ledbury are ,reportedly, packing up early this season probably due to the wet.
We probably won't see them again until September so a little video from last Friday. They DID stop the hounds on two occassions but both times hounds were hunting live mammals.

    Ledbury Hunt.
    Friday 23rd February 2023.
    Lime Kiln Farm, Ashleworth.
The origional meet, Stonebow Farm, was under water, like much of the area. Lambing is also in full swing. The two combined mean many less places for hunts to go.
The sab' out today went up Barrow Hill but the hunt had gone through the village of Ashleworth. By the time she had caught up the hunt were on the A417 at the road works by the turning of Hartpury College. Looks like they had been Maisemore way.
With it being so wet and lots of lambs about we suspect that the masters (most of whom own lots of land) are having to host hunting and so they went into Tweenhills (belonging to David Redvers) and into the infamous Carter's Grove.
2 Roe deer ran from there up Catspury Hill. Hounds then got on their scent and hunted them over the top of the hill. There should have been someone in position to stop them as often foxes run that way but as it was quads scrambles to try and stop half of the disappearing pack with huntsman, Mark Melladay calling them back. The police were called as clearly there was no control over the hounds for some time.
Then it was up Limbury Hill for a short time and back in the direction of Catsbury cottages. 4 vehicles of police officers had now turned up and as hounds hunted through a thick hedge and back the hunt staff had no choice but to stop the hounds. They all then went back to Tweenhills at around 14.30 and were not seen again. It is hoped that they packed up which was probably on the cards anyway considering how wet it was.
    Hit report template.
