She is so deliberate in the way she assimilates every question in every interview. Always an intelligent and thoughtful response no matter how stupid the question. Kate is so respectful, I admire her grace and composure in these interviews. A class act!
Kate handled this interview with a maturity way beyond her years - especially in her responses to the more awkward questions. Referencing Napoleon to counter accusations of being 'fragile' is just pure genius! 🤣
I think it’s lovely that I should be remembered… bless her! She’s so humble and so above his sexist lens. I’m so glad she’s alive when I am and that I grew up with her music. I keep her cd ever in my car.
A master class in how to be polite to someone who you hold in contempt.
When I watch interviews like this I get why Kate didn’t like doing them. Yes it was a different time, but she needed to endure such demeaning questions and always handled it with class. Oh, and his last question about whether she would always be associated with Wuthering Heights - the best was yet to come, and guess what - it’s 2020 and we’re still hoping for new material from her!
Seeing interviews with Kate, it always strikes me how full of wisdom she seems, no matter her (young) age.
Beside being a great , talented ( and beautiful) artist, i realize she is very very smart. And she was only 20yo on this video !! Incredible ! What an amazing maturity

Yes,was here for the promotion tour for the "the Kickinside for a week after being in australia. Everyone wanted to interview her and were falling over themselves to get that chance.she was also interviewed in a plane flying between the two islands

Clever woman, wise and beautiful inside out. We miss her - the fact that she is not a public figure anymore, I mean. Thankfully her music remains, eternal. Ok let's play Hounds of Love now...
We miss her but when you want to listen to her music you play her CDs. And I played them so often! 😉
this is the second interview with her where they asked, "So you think you'll do this music thing for a career?" "No I think I'll open a cheese shop in Canterbury."

The zeitgeist of 70's interviews are fascinating.
Simply what the social expectations were then. Much like interviewers ask endless questions on sex, gender, race or what have you today.

I'd love love to know what was said before this started to record but she looked really pissed off right from the start. Some really banal questions yet again and she did well to have the answers she did. 'Fragile'!! It's laughable.
Michelle Higgins But she did look fragile physically, which is what he meant, nothing laughable in the question. This was one of the nicer interviews.

Writing songs is a mild form of psychiatry. Yes!! Think of all the people who had their eyes and hearts opened by her… cloudbusting is one of my favorite songs of all time…

Kate Bush is everything!
There are 2 types of Kate Bush interview. The ones where she is asked the same banal questions and politely answers while hiding her annoyance, and the type where she is comfortable and conversational. This is definitely the latter.
I'm often impressed by how much patience she shows when answering such lame questions. It makes sense why she's no longer fond of doing interviews.

I COMPLETELY agree! She's so chatty, relaxed and warm with certain GOOD or nice interviewers, who actually TALK to and with her, not AT her like some of the lesser interviewers do, who recite rote questions that are often filled with judgement and misunderstanding.
I've seen far worse than this, though. Imagine poor Paul McCartney having to do it since 1962 ish.
She was clearly annoyed with the "came on like the wicked witch" stupid comment, but she handled it like a pro

I think that many people have misinterpreted this interview. Kate was 20 and in 1978, 20 was 35 in 2022

I was one month old over in Australia while this interview was going on!

This is such a cringeworthy interview, with Kate magically fending off one after another of these condescending, patronizing, insulting, obtuse "questions" that are more like passive-aggressive assaults. She just does graceful acrobatic ballet over this earth-bound king of the muggles.
