for a recycling truck, quite the poor design, would probably work fin for normal bagged waste though

How is this a poor design for a recycling truck? I know many companies around my area that use this same exact truck type.
My town did it this way for YEARS when I was little. That was a couple decades ago. So, if other places are still doing this method today, probably not that bad of a design...
