    Wood, plastic, sheet rock, electronics and metal all shredded together.. what are the pieces used for

  • @fordmanmal
    @fordmanmal 11 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    So what happens to wood waste afterwards? And the electrical stuff I know then gets separated and recycled into various materials. But then with normal rubbish, I assume it gets shredded so its compacts better in landfill? I also suggest removing all the power leads before going thru that shredder as they just all got tangled on it.

    What do you do with all of these chopped up pieces? Where does it all go. Landfills?

  • @Squarerig
    @Squarerig 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    As most of the material shown in this vid. appears to stem from buildings then there must be a considerable amount of metal fittings still in or attached to it.Is this non-wood material later separated or is everything simply burnt?

      If you look closely you'll see that it has a cross belt magnet that puts ferrous metal into the red skip by the side of the machine. The electrical waste will be sorted using magnets and an eddy magnetic field to sort aluminium etc.

  • @kansasthunderman1
    @kansasthunderman1 10 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    If they're shredding metals and general debris in the same place, they need to have a magnetic separator to reclaim the recyclables. Otherwise, the process is not environmentally friendly.

    • @MrPaddyHarp
      @MrPaddyHarp 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a magnet at the bottom of the conveyor, so it is able to catch the metals!!

    • @soonersciencenerd383
      @soonersciencenerd383 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Paddy Harps only the ferrous metals. copper, brass, gold, silver are not magnetic.

      This promo video only shows the outside casings being shredded, it is possible that the precious metals were removed prior to shredding.

      paul backhard. It's so the material compacts in the landfill better. Some places even shred household trash so bacteria has an easyer time breaking it down.

  • @mgtpa4
    @mgtpa4 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Look like the shredded building material could be run through another shredder to make even smaller pieces. What's all this shredded wood going to be used for....??

      Joshua's Recordings About right, found a Sony at the dump a few weeks back, in full working order, even the CD. Then an AIWA today, dual cassette, again, full working order. Both are AC bias, both immaculate. Such a wasteful world we live in.

    This is partly due to manufacturers making products that are incapable of being repaired, justifying making exactly the same thing packaged in the latest ‘new’ must have design. They are also guilty of intentionally manufacturing products that have a limited useable lifespan, a built in obsolescence . The consumer therefore has no choice but perpetuating the situation . We are being conditioned into thinking we must purchase the latest item or we are failing to keep abreast of the so called ‘latest technology’

    • @MrMacman98
      @MrMacman98 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jacob Nolan sadly this is what companies want; equipment to fail because of a minor problem, spare parts are purposely discouraged by making them hellishly expensive and the only option is for them to turf the product and buy a new one... It is genocide
