Wow I didn't know you can achieve this kind of effect with markers and color pencils, Usually I just use them for rendering. This one kind of have a water color effect. Thank you so much.
you can use the end of a stump (not tortion) dipped in turpenoid to blend them too. my marker ran out really quick and I was desperate to try it more and figured that out.
It's the alcohol, in the marker, that loosens the colored pencil wax, right? There has to be a way to create an alcohol mix in a refillable marker without any grey tones. It's great to have learned about this technique. It is a little bit of a battle to get the most out of the colors when the "grey" alcohol based ink keeps toning it down a notch. Any thoughts?
Looks like he's using, ShinHan Touch Twin Brush Marker Set 12WG Warm Grey @ aprox $50 (2012). I love the fact that they don't have a chemical odor which has prevented me from using markers in the past. I'm switching to polycrome pencils from Prisma. Polychrome colored pencils are lightfast while the Prismacolor pencils are not. They both work for this technique of dissolve with solvents, but I'm interested in archival work. Tutorial is aprox $20
almost any artist grade alcohol based pen or ink should work, depending on what you are doing water-based pens can be fine but tend to bleed .. tip:: alcohol and water-base base pens don't blend together but alcohol on alcohol or water on water do. Happy Drawing
im trying to draw a 3 potrait using a marker for my project.. its look ugly.!! =.=" and i just have 3 days more to submit it... i donno if i could finish it in 3 days...
Excellent demo. Really nice piece of work here. However, Polychromo pencils are oil based, not wax based. I notice reference to melting the wax with the markers. The advantage to the polychromo pencils is that when used alone you don't get the waxy bloom you get with was based colored pencils. Obviously the markers "melt" the oil based pencils.
he will never show u the entire video here cuz he sells this videos at his website.. this is just like some parts to show some techniques but if you want all of it you have to bu it.
decent tutorial but the colored pencils he uses in them aren't what they say they are.. they are faber-castel polychromos which are oil based pencils, not wax based
Haha, this looks like a lot of fun! It certainly seems more relaxed than just pencils. I can't wait to try this when i get some markers.
