Thank you for featuring my old neighborhood. I love your NY videos. My parents bought a house in Jamaica back in 1964 when I was 2. The neighborhood is a dump now but surprisingly their 2 story house with a basement is now worth a million dollars. I obliviously walked all those streets full of so much history of native Americans, slavery, George Washington, the patriots and the revolution. I wasn't aware of the ancient history until recently. When I was a little girl, I loved going to the Jamaica Savings bank with my grandfather and I would stare at an old historical mural on the wall that showed a horse and carriage riding on a dirt road and adults and children in 1800's attire.
Tom, do you do in person tours? Coming over next year and looking to book a guided tour mainly around little Italy and the New York mafia, is this something you do?
Continue up to Queens Village, Tommy. The Clearview Expressway was supposed to run through it end Hollis to JFK. Trump House is for sale in Jamaica Estates for the last few years.
Born (Mary immaculate hospital) and raised he till I was 5 in South Jamaica From a small Portuguese community back from the ‘70. The richness of multi cultures all around in different generations over the years. Keep in mind that Governor Cuomo family used to live near Liberty Avenue, and that the Prez is from Jamaica States.
18:21 jamaica hs thanks for the recognition... the school was so wild and crazy and dangerous you wouldnt believe it. thats why its now broken down into smaller more control able sections.
20:24 ok one more story.. that used to be a weed spot.when i was in hs. 169th and homelawn . above the fish market.. you would put your money through a mail slot and out would come a manillia envelope. full of twiggs and stems. Now you go into a legal boutique. like an adult like a gentleman not a criminal... the day i got my licence i got my first ticket for making an illegal u turn right there...april 82. jamaica hs is just up the hill. homeboy and chillside. next time im over there i wouldnt be suprised if there was a legal shop in the same place now. i think of how shady things were and how nice it is now.
Could you be any worse with slavery than the British? Seeing as how it was the British that took it upon themselves to forcibly abolish the trans-atlantic slave trade, yeah. You can easily be worse with slavery than the British.
'Slavery' just changed its name to 'Service'.... Capitalism is the new slave-driver. That they pay u does not make u any less of a slave. Great video Thomas/Robert ;) What a lovely day!
