Great job guys. The overhand strike becomes more useful as the partisan head becomes smaller and the point of balance moves back. In hoplite spear and shield reenactment, we generally use rear balanced spears, but even a spear like your partisans can be very effectively gigged: thrown, but then caught again before the end leaves the hand. The suprise addition to your measure can be quite startling and the spear is easily retracted. I have never had one knocked out of my grip doing this. It comes in very handy for reaching pegs and feet (feet/shins and face are often the only opened targets with a large aspis shield.)
Partisans look so good. It's putting a sword on the end of a pole. Adding a javelin makes the fight look more Greco-Roman than Italian, which the 1500s Italian masters would have approved.
