The Animals album changed my life. It may have also included camping with some coworkers and added mushrooms into the mix 🤣🤣. But I was reborn after that day. That Album and that night changed me.
Y'all's collective reaction, each admitting you succumbed to a common, human defense mechanism, let's call it the urge to _Avoid the Floyd,_ was totally heartwarming to witness. Thank you for expressing that aversion & for giving the band a chance to work their magic spells on you. Now. DO. _Time._
_"...magic spells...."_ Sometimes it really _does_ seem like some kind of spell is being cast, doesn't it? Here we thought these guys were just musical geniuses, turns out they were sorcerers! ;-]
🧙...Please, if/when you do decide to react to _Time_ please do the album/studio version from 1973. The 50th anniversary edition might be okay, but I can't say for sure bc I haven't really paid attention. Other years, like 2011? Remastered? & live versions, etc don't seem to maintain the correct tempo during the build-up for maximum intensity. Then, when it does hit, it seems like it's not as pronounced as it should be. I could be completely mental saying this, but that's what it feels like to me & I just _had_ to at least make an attempt to not spoil it for myself.
The Dark Side of the Moon is certified 14 times platinum in the United Kingdom, and topped the US Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart, where it has charted for 984 weeks. You've only experienced the tip of the Pink Floyd music iceberg. All their music is beautiful, even the songs that rock hard, and they all have deep meaning. I very much hope you keep listening. It's mind expanding stuff. With regards to your discussion: "If a man has an apartment stacked to the ceiling with newspapers we call him crazy. If a woman has a trailer house full of cats we call her nuts. But when people pathologically hoard so much cash that they impoverish the entire nation we put them on the cover of Fortune magazing and pretend that they are role models." I wish I knew who said this. 🤘🏽💗
Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Rolling Stones, Genesis, Doors, Dire Straits, Who e sicuramente mi sfugge qualcuno , mi sento fortunato ad aver vissuto quel periodo incredibile .
Guys, their music is iconic. You are going to have a fun time delving into this catalog. The sum of their parts is something quite special. They are truly one of the greatest bands of all time. Smart lyrically and musicianship is off the charts.
This album is phenomenal, and it changed our minds about what music could be. It took the experimental aspects of the 60's and created a mature blend of everything that came before it. Guys, don't apologize for missing on this. It's completely understandable to us. Music has always been changing and we were there through this particular time (Beatles onward..)There is so much music out there. It's just great that you have gotten to it, now. And it's thrilling for us to be here with you, watching your first listen. That's the joy of sharing music. 🙂
I was in my 20’s before listening to Pink Floyd for this exact reason! 80’s hair rock definitely ruined me for the rock genre growing up. 70’s rock, 60’s rock is a whole different animal. You can definitely see the blues, the Motown, the funk influences in these incredible bands.
The best way to listen to Pink Floyd is to listen to the full album. Many times their songs flow from one to the next with no break. "Money", I believe, is the only song on the Dark Side of the Moon album that stands alone. It's an experience, not just the songs. Try "Shine On You Crazy Diamond, parts 1-4". That's an experience I think you'll enjoy!
I live in Scotland and we took my 70 year old Dad to the Edinburgh festival a few years ago. He's a huge rock and blues fan so we took him to a Pink Floyd show (just the music not the band) where the entire Dark Side of the Moon album was played. We sat in cinema style seats that reclined and they showed psychedelic images all over the ceiling, it was a trip!!
Pink floyd are different to all rock bands. They have their own lane. My favourite band. But dark side has to be listened to in one take. Mind blowing!! Good reaction guys!
Technically I wasn't even a teen in the 70's but as the second to the youngest of 7 kids this is what I grew up listening to. The Dark Side of the Moon is certified 14 times platinum in the United Kingdom, and topped the US Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart, where it has charted for 984 weeks. As of 2013, The Dark Side of the Moon had sold over 45 million copies worldwide, making it the band's best-selling release, the best-selling album of the 1970s, and the fourth-best-selling album in history.
I was the same. I am the second youngest, but we had 37 foster kids, my parents had three biological children and adopted 3. One of the adopted children what's a teenager and Cherokee Indian who I hung out with all the time and went to the record stores with and some concerts. Also with other family members as in cousins and aunts and uncle's. We still go to concerts together and there's a lot of musicians in my family. One of my cousins just recorded with Michael McDonald a few weeks ago. I grew up in a big hippie family.
My older brother had this LP when I was a kid, would have been 78 or '79, listening on the giant console in the living room which you had to wait for the tubes to warm up, and looking at that album cover as a i listened to it when I was 9.
DSOTM was released in 1973 so it was early 70’s guys. The creativity and hugeness of that period 1970 to about ‘74 was untouchable. And being a Brit,I had the best of it.
Excellent reaction and commentary guys to this Pink Floyd classic. The Dark Side of the Moon LP was mind blowing when it debuted in '73, waaay ahead of its time, and is considered one of the greatest LPs ever conceived, regardless of genre. It is a thematic masterpiece that's intended to be listened to in a single sitting in its intended order, since one song flows to the next (headphones/ear buds are a must). "Money" was the biggest commercial hit from this effort, but every other song is phenomenal, especially "Time." I hope you'll do a full album reaction, even if you have to do so in several uploads -- just be sure to listen to each song in their correct order to make sense of the various themes (which include death, conflict, greed, loneliness, madness, and desperation). ✌️☮️
These guys were the Ultimate Experimenters in the Rock Music Transition of the 60/70’s. Now you’ve got wet, you gonna want to go swimming, and Dudes, They got a BIG Pool. They also do THE very Best Live Concerts you’ll Ever See (Pulse 94), but you probably should do the Studio first, so you Get to appreciate the extended version. I Subbed in the exited Hope of watching you guys react to more Pink Floyd.
i just came across your channel. you've heard 2 un-typical songs from them. comfortably numb, live from the PULSE concert, is more typical of them. calm and relaxing
Check out Pink Floyd "Comfortably Numb" live from the 1994 Pulse Concert! David Gilmour performs one of the greatest guitar solos of all time in my opinion - his style and the melodic notes that he finds are just fantastic!
I was at the Pulse concert 1994 at Giant Stadium NJ (as it was called at the time) Best concert that I ever was part of. We had 10th row center seats. The entire experience is still in the music.
The 70's are my favorite decade of music. Darkside Of The Moon is best listened to from start to finish as one song flows right into the next song most of the album.
Thank you, guys, for the honesty and open minds towards some amazing music we enjoyed in the 70's and still today !! I was so lucky to see them live in the Superdome. That was an out of body experience, simply mesmerizing !!
Good comment about thinking the Floyd would be like, 80s rock. It's officially Prog Rock, but to me it's even beyond category. It has blues, jazz, pyschedelic, trance, ambient - I think they truly are the greatest band in the world. (sorry, Radiohead fans!)
Pink Anderson Floyd Council Two great Blues musicians the band was named after. I'm glad to have been a fan of theirs since 1968. The Wish You Were Here and the Meddle album are right up there. Echoes live at Pompeii highlights just how good they were. 🤠🏞️🐂
Pink Floyd is going to take y'all on a journey if you just listen. They will make you feel like your mind expanded. So many songs. My favorite is Shine On You Crazy Diamond. You have to hear Us & Them. Wish You Were Here. Comfortably Numb. That's just starting the list. Have fun, guys!
Please do yourselves a favor and listen to the whole album in one sitting. PF's albums are concept albums and meant to be heard in one sitting - in order. Cheers.
less is more ... everything in moderation. Great discussion, great reaction to a great masterpiece! Thanks so much for your candor! I'm 66 and went through my teen years during the decade of the 70s music. There were so many genres of music during the 70s, and it taught us to be open to all kinds of music. That being said, I've stayed open-minded to rap and hip hop, and I love some of it! Thanks again, guys! ✌💙✌
You guys are fun. I’m in your generation but grew up initially on 80’s rock and came across just enough 70’s on the radio to know and appreciate the difference. I’ve always struggled to hear the words so going back now and reading along is helpful to hear the message
Many people criticize the 70s for being all about long guitar solos. The 80s were so sacchirine sweet and poppy, we forget that true rock, was perfected in the 70s. Since all modern music is just variations on the blues, blue will infiltrate all genres of music, even country and rap. All guitarists know, learn the blues, and that will teach you rock and roll.
Pink Floyd is what we called head music back in the 70’s- it took you places and you never had to leave your chair. Dark side of the moon album is very profound lyrically--listen to all the album.
My brothas, talk about opening minds and hearts to new music. 2 years ago, I began my exploration of the rabbit hole of rap music, and omg I'm so glad I did! My music library is so much more enriched. My library isn't complete without the likes of Tupac, Dre, Snoop, Exibit. I can go on, but the point is, I have a wide open mind to nearly all genres of music. And a scientific proven fact is, people who regularly listen to multiple genres of music have higher IQs. That's a fact. It's good for the mind and good for the soul. Let's all open our minds and elevate our IQs through the universal language of MUSIC....
This is prog rock in the 60's and 70s, I consider this time as the last of the big music. 80's rock was an embarrassment compared to the blues, r&b, Folk, Jazz fusion of the prog rock era..listen to Jethro Tull. Locomotive Breath.. Other Pink Floyd songs. Do the live pulse concert 1994 for incredible versions of songs like Money with an extended jam session. also from this concert Comfortably Numb, High Hopes, Sorrow, Shine On You Crazy Diamond are best versions
And 60's, guys. The music from the late 60's and early 70's was the BEST! Glad you're getting into Pink Floyd; please check out their album Dark Side of the Moon. You can do it in two reactions; side 1 and 2. Also, if you want to see them when they were young, do Echoes live at Pompeii, 1971. Also, their album Wish You Were Here is fire.
Dark Side of the Moon is one of the best albums ever! Now for something completely different from that same album, you might try The Great Gig in the Sky.
Welcome to the Grown up's table. The 70's so Called "Progressive Rock" has given birth to Incredible Music, from which millions of musicians have taken inspiration. P.Floyd is an Eargasm, with a lot to "listen to" while earing the music.
Well com to Progressive Rock. Love that you enjoyed the song, there is soooo much more. The Pulse concert from 1994 will blow your mind, start to finish.
Glad you came up in my recommended videos again, been a while. After a few weeks of job application and job-interview stress to get some extra money, this classic put things in perspective. Yes, I do want some more comfort, (and get out the house and be distracted from my own mind) but better to be comfortable with what I do than to stress just to get comfortable. Or something like that. Good to see you guys again. Great song!
I think you guys were describing death metal, not rock music. Pink Floyd will become by far your favourite band, once you dive into their catalogue. There is no other way.
The floyd journey is endless. Thank you for sharing your experience. Two of my favorite Pink Floyd songs with a powerful message are "Pigs" and "Have a Cigar"
Thank you guys for falling into the Floyd rabbit hole. Yes your right that people think Pink Floyd will be like other screaming rock bands , but once you listen to them they find out Floyd have a message and take you on a journey, Guys sit back , strap in and make sure your ears are ready for a treat 👍
I was never the biggest Pink Floyd fan because growing up the radio was saturated with Floyd and Zeppelin and Skynyrd etc. and I just wanted something different. But that opening groove of the coins falling rhythmically as the bass kicks in was genius (especially in an era before sampling). Plus they were able to inject incredibly potent lyrics without ever damaging the groove, so the song remains catchy, but still very very heavy in terms of message.
Hi guys, K's Dadd here. Glad you get to expand your horizons. If you enjoyed this check out Yes "Roundabout or Siberian Khatru" or some more Floyd "One of these days".
Growing up in the 70’s was me witnessing the best music ever made (in my opinion.) I love watching someone discover the sound and becoming almost speechless. Please keep searching and find what makes you feel.
If you smoke a big ol fattie, have a beer or three, put your headphones on, the beanbag.....this album will change your DNA!!!!!
The Animals album changed my life. It may have also included camping with some coworkers and added mushrooms into the mix 🤣🤣. But I was reborn after that day. That Album and that night changed me.
This album spent 950 weeks on the charts, more than any other album in music history.
nuff said!

I agree - listen to “Time”!

PINK FLOYD is a genre all on it's own
Really, nothing else quite like it.
This ^

The 70s gave us so much variety in rock. It was an incredible time to have lived through.
Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Rolling Stones, Genesis, Doors, Dire Straits, Who e sicuramente mi sfugge qualcuno , mi sento fortunato ad aver vissuto quel periodo incredibile .
Pink Floyd is right up your ally. It’s bluesy, jazzy, and musically masterful.
And the lyrics are better than most books.
Guys, their music is iconic. You are going to have a fun time delving into this catalog. The sum of their parts is something quite special. They are truly one of the greatest bands of all time. Smart lyrically and musicianship is off the charts.
We had the greatest music in the 70’s. And it can never be repeated. ❤
Short version. Totally need to hear the album version. There's an updated version of this video that uses the full rendition of the song.
You have to do 'Time' next. Just another one of their masterpieces!
This album is phenomenal, and it changed our minds about what music could be. It took the experimental aspects of the 60's and created a mature blend of everything that came before it. A dimly lit room and the old stereo speakers with the sound activated lights adds to the experience also.
Shine on You Crazy Diamond is not on the Dark Side of the Moon album. It’s on Wish You Were Here.
@@KaiOceani think you misunderstood.
@@KaiOcean I didn't say it was on DSOTM. Its just a suggestion as a standalone song.
@@anntelford8647 _I_ understood you. On a separate note, it's 1-5 & 6-9. ✌️

One of my favorite Pink Floyd songs.
thank you thank you thank you! for just having open ears and open hearts and open minds to explore the great rock songbook - there is wisdom out there
This whole album gentleman!!! It tells the human story and should be listened to entirely, you will enjoy and appreciate I promise!

Nobody has ever been on Pink Floyds level
Welcome.... to the machine! Very much enjoyed your collective reaction!
I seen them in Cleveland June 25th 1977 total awesome back then. Great reaction guys rock on
Do more Pink Floyd!
Morning guys. There is soo much music to explore from Pink Floyd. Great discussion afterwards. Can't wait til you look at their album Animals.

Gentlemen, get ready to have your minds blown open, and expanded like you never could have imagined. Love to see & share your Floyd metamorphosis.
If you go back to the beginning of “The Wall” where the headmaster snatches the notebook from the kid, he’s reading the lyrics of “Money”
Many fans of PF love "Comfortably Numb" as their top favorite.
Especially the LIVE performance 1994 Pulse Tour.
Money, Share it fairly but don't take a slice of my pie.
An excellent honest reaction guys. 👍👍
I love your reactions! Please keep going down the Pink Floyd rabbit hole and do Time next. You won’t be disappointed!

Gilmour speaks through his guitar.
I second this
The 70's are my favorite decade of music. Darkside Of The Moon is best listened to from start to finish as one song flows right into the next song most of the album.
The best Pink Floyd song is almost always . . . . . the next one . . .
Thank you, guys, for the honesty and open minds towards some amazing music we enjoyed in the 70's and still today !! I was so lucky to see them live in the Superdome. That was an out of body experience, simply mesmerizing !!
Great reaction and commentary, guys.
The entire album is all killer no filler.
Saw them live when this album came out in Chicago. The sound was amazing live ❤
A real shame that Roger Waters continues to beef with these other members and vice versa.
To think what they could've created otherwise is just wild.
Money is NOT the Root of All Evil,.... it's the LOVE OF MONEY that is the Root of ALL EVIL...!! New Sub from the SF Bay Area Cali. Peace
Hey Brother, did you change the title to your video after you saw my post? Show me some LOVE...!! Not even a like...?!! Daaamn......
Great reaction gentlemen!!
Good comment about thinking the Floyd would be like, 80s rock. It's officially Prog Rock, but to me it's even beyond category. It has blues, jazz, pyschedelic, trance, ambient - I think they truly are the greatest band in the world. (sorry, Radiohead fans!)

70s rock is where its at for sure. My fav. Era. Check out Time or Shine on you Crazy Diamond by them.
Any cut off their live " Pulse tour " is phenomenal
Pink Floyd is a concept album that should be listened to as a whole from start to finish hopefully with surround sound
Hands down, my favorite Pink Floyd song.

The talking at the end of the song was the beginning of the next song, Us and Them, another gem.
It has a blues sound because the origins of rock is rhythm and blues
This is why I subscribe to you guys. You get it.

WENT TO LASER LIGHT SHOW TO THIS ALBUM, IT WAS A TRIP😲😲😲😲😱😱😱👍👍👍👍❤❤❤
Love It Classic Enjoy !
No one is to blame for the culture that surrounds them as they grow. You guys have entered a new musical world - Enjoy The Ride!
Pink Floyd is what we called head music back in the 70’s- it took you places and you never had to leave your chair. Dark side of the moon album is very profound lyrically--listen to all the album.
And the link to Brick In The Wall is that the poem the teacher grabs from the kid and reads aloud is a verse from this song.
Only song I'm aware of written with a 9/5 time signature. Way cool.
Yes 💥 The 70's music was the best!

Other Pink Floyd songs. Do the live pulse concert 1994 for incredible versions of songs like Money with an extended jam session. also from this concert Comfortably Numb, High Hopes, Sorrow, Shine On You Crazy Diamond are best versions
Pink Floyd song TIME
Astute insights .
Thanks for appreciating timeless brilliance .
Love your vibes .
Great reaction, love this. Thanks gents!

Pink Floyd is great to just sit and listen to. Headphones, comfy chair, eyes closed, and just enjoy the journey.
This album, Echoes, and Wish you were here are essential.

Yes your right that people think Pink Floyd will be like other screaming rock bands , but once you listen to them they find out Floyd have a message and take you on a journey, Guys sit back , strap in and make sure your ears are ready for a treat 👍
Great reaction guys! Everyone deserves Pink Floyd in their lives especially vitamin DSOTM!
Great reaction. When The Tigers Broke Free is Pink Floyd's most powerful song! It will give you chills! It's about Roger Waters Father in world War 2.
Great reaction… you really should do the entire album. It flows together. It’s also one of the top selling albums of all time.
Pink Floyd is an experience
I was never the biggest Pink Floyd fan because growing up the radio was saturated with Floyd and Zeppelin and Skynyrd etc. and I just wanted something different. But that opening groove of the coins falling rhythmically as the bass kicks in was genius (especially in an era before sampling). Plus they were able to inject incredibly potent lyrics without ever damaging the groove, so the song remains catchy, but still very very heavy in terms of message.
I’m so blessed to have grown up in the 70’s ❤
Hi guys, K's Dadd here. Glad you get to expand your horizons. If you enjoyed this check out Yes "Roundabout or Siberian Khatru" or some more Floyd "One of these days".
Growing up in the 70’s was me witnessing the best music ever made (in my opinion.) I love watching someone discover the sound and becoming almost speechless. Please keep searching and find what makes you feel.
