One of the mind-blowing things to consider is that Robert Plant was just 20 years-old when recording this and he was writing and singing like a seasoned 60 year-old blues singer from the 30's and 40's.
I was 17 sitting in my bedroom with my buds listening to this in awe in ‘68. This was their first album! Went to see LZ in ‘69 at the Winterland in SF. I recommend “ Ramble On” by them for some insane bass riffing by Jonesy.
BTW, you might not know this but the band broke up when their great drummer, John Bonham, died suddenly in 1980; however, 27 years later in 2007 they played one reunion concert live together again (with the son of the great drummer playing drums, Jason Bonham). The venue was the O2 arena in London which held 20,000 people--when the concert was announced there were over 20 MILLION requests for the tickets--after 27 years of not playing together--that's how big Led Zeppelin was/is.
I think you’d enjoy “You Shook Me” by Led Zeppelin. It was a Muddy Waters blues tune, but as Jimmy Page said “we took the blues, twisted it and turned it on its head”.
That is one of my most favorite studio songs, I wish there was a live with visuals of it, it shows all the different things they do. Three amazing solos keyboards harmonica guitar, & of course amazing vocals & drumming. Led Zeppelin are so soulful & passionate when playing the Blues, & I love it.
Jimmy had it right. Similarly, they asked Eric Clapton in 1967 what kind of music Cream plays and he said "Blues, ancient and modern". Cut from the same cloth.
@@sicotshit7068 I love them, but musically, Cream was, well the Cream--they had the BEST rhythm section with Jack Bruce on bass--a classically trained cellist who became a great jazz bassist and the mighty Ginger Baker, another jazz musician who could play anything and could compose, arrange, etc. Oh they also had Eric, BTW. No need to compete, they were different kinds of bands. Cream played long jazz-like extended improvisations on their songs in concert, Zep did a little of it, but really had their own thing with the mix of blues, English and Celtic folk, etc. Apples and Oranges except that they loved blues.
This is from their first album, which they recorded just about 5 weeks after forming as a band, and they were so young - ages ranged from 20-24! Four of the most gifted musicians were producing music like we had never heard it before. Best blues/rock band ever. I've enjoyed all your Led Zeppelin reactions, but would really enjoy it if you reacted to them more frequently. To understand the depth and breadth of their catalogue, best to start with album 1 track 1, and just keep on going. ;)
Imagine being 20 or so, in school, getting this album, going back to your dorm room and putting g it on and listening with your roommate in 1969. This was 4th song on album. We just looked at one another, jaws open, our expressions going WTF??!!! Nothing heavier in rock at this point. This was it.
@@xmathmanx aware of….saw albums at the record store (the one with the banana on it) but never got into them. None of my friends played them at their homes either. The only adjective I ever heard about them was “weird”. So from what you said, I assume you consider them heavier than Zeppelin…

The WHOLE ALBUM IS INCREDIBLE- while they were touring off this first album . They were recording the second album . The second album is great - every cut .
The name “Led Zeppelin” came from a humorous conversation between musicians about the band’s chances of success - that the band would be going down like a lead balloon. For the younger crowd, a Zeppelin was a giant blimp - like the Goodyear blimp.
Two good friends of Jimmy Page, founder and guitarist named Keith Moon and John Entwistle of other British band, The Who made that statement to Page and then other member, Jeff Beck.
Great interpretation! Two of Led Zeppelin's finest creations are "Nobody's Fault but Mine" (Studio version) and "Since I've been Loving You." (Studio version)

Just think how this 12 year-old white kid was thinking when he first heard this on his friend's "stereo" in late 1969! Well, it still hits hard for me. What I would sincerely like for you young men to take away from this is that this music, and all of the great rock/blues-rock/prog-rock was "our" music only in the sense that it came out when we were young and so have lots of sense memories associated with it (and love it), BUT, this music is for everyone--not just middle class white boys from the late 60s through the 70s. Great reaction. This was a very bluesy song. It's a great example of the blues influence they and A LOT of the early English rock bands had. I love the heavyness and sludgyness of this song, especially Jimmy Page's heavy riffs and John Bohnam's jeavy hands on the drums!!!

It is like a roller coaster ride in the dark with strobe lights! WOW!🤩🤩🤩
Even in the ‘70’s, we knew we were listening to best band that would ever do it.
