I'd say Surf Curse's early work, while very enjoyable, is very rudimentary surf punk music with a lot of distortion. I loved it as a teenager but a lot of their songs as I've grown old I've moved away from, I see them as very raw and not methodical expressions of emotion. Some where capsulated very well but others missed the mark. I've been listening to them for a while and gotten to see them grow and develop as artists. Freaks and Heathers are 2 songs that I don't think I will ever get over. I cherish them heavily and go back to them when ever im down or hurting. All around I love there work and their influences being bands like the Cure really show.
Thanks for making the video though, keep up the good work. This a great video and had very high quality production done for a channel as small as yours. You've earned a subscriber.

Completely felt this. Their last two records especially Magic Hour, really reflect how much growth they’ve experienced in the last decade. All that said, much like yourself I play freaks, Im not making out with you, heathers, etc all the time! Just good music man. Thank you so much for the comment and sub, means a lot !!

    I'm just saying this
But it feels so good to see a black person reviewing indie music😭 like it just feels so good to see someone like me just sharing the same opinion. I know there's other reviewers out there but I also just love your editing style and the way you describe certain things

This is one of the best videos I've watched in a while, could also be the most underrated one. I hope the second part of that sentence gets old quickly.

Nice video. I wondered where their inspiration for Freaks came from. Seeing they do so many songs based off of shows and movies and books.

At 3:12 its a version that isn't really distorted and it sounds like an early recording, where did u get it just curious 🤔

Yeah it’s an early demo version that I used for copy right purposes (and I honestly kind of like it a little better than the studio version most days haha). Here’s a link for yah tho ! th-cam.com/video/2nEq2nnMqsY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=aRFPwEQ3cYew_Urv

I think the demo version is better cause you can hear how young they were when they made this indie song that a couple years later would become a smash hit 🎸🎶

@ling0147 of course! Some of my favorite indie records of the last ten years come from them for sure. Kids might be my favorite song of theirs
