Nritta or pure dance forms an important part of Odissi repertoire. Tala Madhurya is a composition of pure dance. This exquisitely choreographed dance piece is composed of sculpturesque poses, intricate footwork, and composite body movements. It is devoid of expressions. Only a rhythmic tala pattern is followed, supported by a melody or raga. But the focal point of this pure and abstract dance without thematic content is the "Purush Ang", which imbibes male stylization into Odissi form.It deviates from the dominance of the feminine form and gives prominence to the male dancers and the masculine form in Odissi.

The boys always do a marvellous job of any choreography and good to see them harbouring their skills after so many years. However, I do not agree with the description here. The dance moves r not abstract and without theme, they are clearly demonstrating the instruments played in item which is conceptual and also the moevemntns I am seeing are still quite feminine. Male dominating dance would be in the form of Tandav with far stronger and hard hitting movements. I would love to see more creativity and diversity in the Rudrakshya content, we are seeing much the same choreo in every item. Would be nice to add a new flavour into the dance now. 🙏🏽
