Have been running whaly boats for arround 3 years now at my saling school, they all struggle a little to get on plane and putting people more forward while trying to plane it and then making them sit mid ship has worked good for us.
To make launch and retrieval easy, re-engineer the trailer to what's called a hinged trailer. Extend the drawbar and hinge it twelve inches past the trailer chassis V. The V will now be formed into a down facing channel, at this point a sliding tongue is required on the drawbar to lock the chassis. In retrieval, when winch pressure is applied the unlocked chassis will hinge up, in doing so will lower the rear of the trailer to form a ramp. This also aids in a soft launch. In Australia this style of trailer was all the rage for small boats in the 70s and 80s. Most people are amazed to see it in operation, I hope this helps. Cheers
Rotomolded plastic boats are the killer-app for watercraft. Inherently buoyant (unsinkable), inherently anti-fouling (no marine biota consumes it), lightweight, inexpensive, built-ins friendly, and easy to repair holes if stranded on a deserted island (just need a magnifying glass, a plastic bottle, and sun). Whaley’s not the first RMP boat, but looks like a great boat to have and to hold.
It holds its own until the swells get over 3-4 feet. Then its spash city for anything or anyone aboard unless you have the wind at your back. But the platform itself is quite robust still in those conditions. Just make sure you have a nice bilge pump and a float switch installed properly.
Two things that could help with your beach launch. First would be to take that small wheel off of your jack and put on a large tire style wheel. That’ll roll on the sand instead of just digging into it, meaning you can toll your boat into the water easily. Secondly, get a long extension bar that you can connect between your trailer and vehicle. That would allow you to reverse the boat/trailer into the water while keeping your Jeep in the traction zone.
Check out that smoke at 7:04 That's what an over heated engine will do, I have had that due to malfunction in exhaust but these guys running that engine dry is quite crazy especially to rev a cold engine. Yikes!!
Burn that water pump up.. damn. Seen a guy out today with his 150 motor completely out of the water running for 10min. Minimum! You know that pump propeller is shot
Smart move to take the trailer off at the tongue, then tilt it way up to begin the retrieve. Much easier to lift the trailer up like that, than to lift the boat up to match the trailer height. They call that using your head--and always do that, lift it with your mind before you break your back.
Also - you may want to chock the trailer wheels so the trailer does not get pulled into the water. OR ( I think the better choice) attach a piece of chain or rope from the trailer axle to the hitch ball, also so the trailer cannot get pulled rearward into the water as the winch is operated.
The most amazing plastic boat i have seen. it looks strong and comfortable. would be happy to have one. They actually took this one up another level. Lets see whats next.
I purchased a rear 5000lb winch to pull the whaly out of these types of situations. So versatile! And it looks cool using a winch to hook up out of the ocean. #teamrustsucks
Check the smoke at 7:04 That's what a dry start will do... especially when its reved up from cold. that water finally coming through will take a while to cool that engine.. they need to chill out.
I've owned all 3 and honestly I'd stick to a sib or up grade to a rib. I only have a whaly because I had to for work only pro to it is it is there harder to put a hole in 🤣
@@ashleydavies9982 I'm curious why you prefer a sib or rib to a Whaly ? I've had an Avon and a Novurania before I got My Whaly 500R. I explore islands in Baja and fish California. This is much tougher. I'll send you a photo if your interested.
Wider tires, air down the tires to 15 lbs and make or buy a tongue extension. I have a 9 ft tongue extension slung under my trailer for shallow launches. I have 500R Whaly with 60hp Suzuki tricked out for fishing S. Cal. and Baja
Ya'll need a trailer made for beach launching or mod that one all it needs is some tick tires and either extend the tongue of the trailer or make an extension to use only when launching i did this to a old jet ski trailer and now is a breeze to launch i make the removable extension 10 ft and put some truck tires on the trailer dont remember the size but they are at least double the thickness of the originals and at the beach i lower the psi to 10 psi so i dont get bug hope this help you guys it work wonders for me !
Wider tyres (or deflated a bit) and don't be afraid to get the trailer wet. Whally boats are great but they are fairly heavy. You won't have that many hands all the time. enjoy, enjoy.
From not using s boat ramp to not making sure the motor runs before launching you guys are sure got your act together. And how many of you are there ? Joke
I own one of these boats but the 500 r model, there a very capable little boat. I use it commercially to carry cargo. I've seen them carry 2000kg in calm weather if your brave or mad enough and 1300kg in weather conditions that your out in. I've had 600kg in 40mph winds you get a good soaking but the boat is stable enough
Looks like the palm log method of launching might be better than the trailer. I launched lots of pangas from the beach in Costa Rica by pushing them on logs. How heavy is that boat compared to pangas? It seems like it should be lighter and easier to push.
Hey Ashley, searching for info :0). I am considering a 500R with a console, for whalewatching near coast with small groups. How many persons can you fit comfortably on your boat. I am thinking about having 3 “seat boxes” ? Kind regards Jakob
Why would you start a new motor out of water? Could have pushed further out until lower end was submerged for water pump flow. We all know 30f seconds out of water can destroy the impeller. This is slight criticism which is well warranted. Anyways that is a nice dingy and I plan on buying a whaler when my current zodiac inflatable isn’t inflatable anymore. Thanks for the review and the cringe engine start..lol. If you get a hydrofoil for the motor you’ll see big gains in performance.
Any one can tell me the total cost for that yellow boat includes the trailer,It looks fit to little person like me, light weight and large enough for five or six people, low maintenance (plastic). Thanks.

That was a lot of nervous laughter around the 11 minute mark lol.
"Put it down and storm the beach" 😂 that gave me a good chuckle.
New impeller needed!
Yes that’s what we are thinking as well. Needs to hop on plane quicker
Absolutely needs new water pump impeller
Facts🤣👌
Sand and salt kills all
Yep running out of water even for that short a time will chew it up
Add a hydro foil to the 40hp.
Will increase stability and help with porpoising. Boat is Uber cool!!
Awesome video!
This has me sold on a whaly. Thanks for sharing
Thank you and glad to hear that! Let me know which one you get and how you like it!
You guys are hilarious! Love it. Guys being guys!
I have a whaly 435!!! I loves my B.O.A.T.
How does it handle rough condition

Plastic fantastic. Neat runabout rig. I'd use it for spear fishing.
I had the equivalent blow up Zodiac
Thanks for posting I guess where I live I just use boat ramp LOL
Whatever works. Looks like fun time.

That little boat looks like so much fun
It is, we are excited to put it to real use!
Lol ..don't think I've ever seen less experience working a trailer 🤪
Have the 500 R....second season, great boat!
What engine and top speed are you achieving ?
Maiden voyage.
Success!
Nice addition
Yes! I agree
Looks like you guys have way to much fun with that boat.
Lol I hope the rest of the trips on it are as fun
Put a splash canopy at the front, set the fuel tank up front to get it to plain easier.
Need to make that a tilt trailer.
Nice bro 👍🏾
it hurts seeing a brand new outboard being dry started
Hahaha yep they always do that
Gotta love the cackle of a good runnin' two stroke!
yeah dry run and no break in .. wide open. it should last a couple months .. lower unit service maybe never !!!!

Nice boat
I've just ordered one getting it here in the UK end of November 👌 seems like the perfect dinghy for my camping and fishing trips
Awesome you will have a blast with it!
Needs a ballon tire on the front Toung.
Larger Fatter tires would be the trick. You could have also just unloaded it in the sand and pushed it into the waters.
Love the boat.to small for cali waters but a great boat.must book trip.
Come on down!!
Part boat, part Tupperware. I dig it.
Do you always start your outboard when it’s not in the water lololol time for a new water pump
Lol the Panamanians always do. The enduros are tanks

Rough sea? Where? 🤔
How would you rate this boat vs a sib vs a rib boat? I own a sib but I may get one of these since they may be better to cut waves and so
Wish I could help with that rating but I only have experience in a much larger rib. Obviously it was nicer but also 30ft long with twin 300s lol

They have some modular seats that can be added and taken out. Pretty cool!

I saw a boat just like that the other day in Boquete. You wouldn't happen to be this way would you.
Greats from Germany ( Ostsee) Lübecker Bucht.
These boats would be better if they came as stick steer option so driver can ride up front for better weight distribution, vision and control.
how many miles per gallon?
I have that engine ,it’s great !
40 Enduro Yami twin cylinder, the best
Mariner have the carbon copy
Get the short shaft version, good for crossing reefs/shallows.
Good 👍

Trolling at warp speed?
Haha sometimes you need to for wahoo!
14- 16 knots for Wahoo pulling Hawaiian Eyelanders
Starting that motor before they got it in the Water was Stupid. I hope they didn't mess up the impeller in the Water pump running it Dry like that.

"A pretty good swell"? I launch in 2-3' surf pacific ocean, the Whaly would go airborne 2nd wave.
I want to buy one
Glad I'm not with em 😂 😅 ❤❤ 😊

Depends on where you live. Nautical Ventures may be a good bet. I think they are a top dealer for them.
Let some air out the tire makes the tire wider
Whaly 500R is used by the coast guard .....
Giggling like a bunch of schoolgirls!
...wow...bunch of giggling girls... Smart retrieval.
Never start your engine unless the prop is in the water. Gonna cause major problems with the engine starting it like they did.
You don’t have nearly enough water to start that motor, just after launching not good, cook your engine

No it wouldn’t
Platano Gordo 🤣🤣🤣
how much money for that

Rough season wtf
rough seas my arse
so STP
the boat was stable but the camera man was drunk
Same company does a version called the Multi, much better
Heavier though
Actually a different company from UK called PIONER
Almost acts like a twin hull V separated, so wider and more stable I'd imagine.
Nothing beats a nice light Aluminum boat. Sorry but this boat is to heavy to use like this!
...and you're using a 2 stroke engine...?
BOZO!!!
Worst location to launch the boat.
A lot less hassle if they launch it at a boat ramp. 🙉🥴😅
Closest boat ramp is 60 miles away
