How to Play Norwegian Wood by The Beatles WITHOUT A CAPO

Today's guitar lesson for beginners is about how to play Norwegian Wood by The Beatles without a capo. Hey guys, Brad Litton from SimpleGuitar.com here with another beginner guitar lesson for you about playing this great Beatles song without a capo. Normally this acoustic guitar song is in the key of E by placing a capo on the 2nd fret & basing it around a D shape chord. But what I'm going to show you is how to play this song in E with no capo needed at all. Honestly I think this version is actually a bit easier to play than the original version, too. So in this video I'll be going over all 4 chords you need to know, the rhythm for all the strumming, & break down the verse & chorus sections of the song.

For the 3rd measure of the first verse I found it much easier to only slide my one finger (index finger) from the 1st fret 4th string to the 2nd fret 4th string. Then starting picking your notes: open 3rd string then the 2nd fret 4th string (which is where you slid your finger) then pinky on 5th string 4th fret. Basically just using two fingers - your index then your pinky. After picking the notes slide back into an E again.

Thank you! you made it easy for me. When I first started out a I used a hand grip device you squeeze or a rubber ball to strengthen my hands as you need it. D’ Dario strings or Ernie ball light strings help.
