You do really quality work. Part of my decision to buy an older boat was based on watching all of your instructional videos. As a result, bought a sailboat and had the confidence THANKS TO YOU to do a bottom job. I got a lot of good compliments, tips, and feedback from professionals working in the marina where I am, and I always refer back to you. Thanks.
love your channel !! I was looking for a DIY on fixing fiberglass on a utility box, LOL. This is a little more then then what I was looking for LOL. But I can't stop watching !! LOVE IT. I keep thinking that your playing the instrument in some of the music .. Great detail
You are the real deal my friend! I've been watching your videos for quite some time and you are second to none when if come to boat repairs. I've been doing repairs myself for about four years now for pursuit boats and really awesome if I have a repair question I know you have a video that touches base on what I'm look for. Thank you for being willing to show people tips and tricks and proper ways to do things. You are awesome!
Saturday night in NYC and we are watching your videos! Can't wait to start working on our 1968 houseboat in a few weeks using all we've learned from your amazing videos, thank you Andy for sharing your knowledge and craftsmanship!!!
Great Job Andy! Wish I had half your talent. When I didn't see videos I thought maybe you flew over seas to help Mads out...he's coming down to a deadline and I'm not sure he can make it...2-1/2 weeks to finish the new core AND glass it??? YIKES!
Thanks for your time and video's . I am learning more from you to help me put a face lift on my old dingy boat . Time and the elements have been hard on it .
You are one of my favorit TH-camrs along side with royalty like Jimmy Diresta, Ave, Wranglestar, Big Clive, Darbin Orvar and a couple more. Keep up the good work!
Andy, We followed your steps on our San Juan 23. It worked out great. Used the fine sand rubber. The surface feels great when doing deck work; setup, sail changes and lounging. Picked the fine grade because sitting on it is a little more comfortable on one's undercarriage. Thanks for the info.
Thanks for the information about leaving the tapes in place until the last coat is applied as long as the tapes are not left there for too long. I was wondering about that.
I like the work you do and how you explane what you’re doing great work . I have a question how do you repair cracks on the deck they aren’t deep floor was painted and has nonskid .
You have so many great videos. Only problem is finding the one I need. I am considering a Morgan out island. It has a light blue grip that is about 70% worn off. Do you have a video of cleaning the rest off or covering with a different color? If so please post a link when you get time. I am trying to cover all my bases before making an offer . Thanks
Andy, thanks for your videos. I am a novice and am working on a total resto as we speak (stringers, transom, deck, etc) and your videos have helped immensely. Keep em' coming!
A great job and thanks to the excellent video we have seen how a state of the art restoration can be carried out. Doing it so well is not for everyone but it is possible. Thanks Andy
Thanks for the video man. Always learn something from you. I have a 76 Thompson Trawler I'm getting ready to paint. Waiting for it to cool down a little here in Daytona Beach.
That looks awsome!!! As well as the teak deck! I'm still stucked with my one :-/. And I'm very happy to have you back here!! You're a big part of my motivation to get my "project" done :)
I have an ODAY 222 that is full of spider cracks all over, so thinking to sanding it down, using drumel tool open up cracks and filling. trying to use your video's to guide my diy. Can you show the cans you use in future videos as you are my guide. love your work. you mention awgrips 454, is it the can that says D3001? appreciate any help, thanks
Good Morning, i want to redo my 19ft bowrider deck with a non skid surface with grip so we dont have to put carpet and have a easy wash off floor. Can you give me some suggestions on 1. What product 2. How many layers of product 3. About how many gallons do i need to buy 4. Do i need to add that texture additive if its already a non skid material. THANKS,LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
No Flattening Agent? Looks like you have enough heavy coverage to take away the glare anyway :) I heard somewhere that Flattening Agent weaken the paint and shorten it's working lifespan by a few years. Thought?
Videos are great, enjoyable to see a passionate craftsman doing such nice work.. curious if you have any concerns with working with all of these chemicals? Hope you have some sort of exhaust system as a bare minimum.. cheers!
I have a good size air makeup unit that I run whenever I'm working large areas like this. I'm able to exchange all of the air in the building every 4 minutes which makes a huge difference!
Great work, as always! I’ve gotten a lot of good information from your videos! Now I think it’s time to buy your guide...I’m redoing my 1988 19ft Center console. Your videos have been tremendous help, so Thank you!
Great job as usual. Looks great! Did I miss the putting down of the teak deck? it looks to be down. Don't remember seeing a video on that. No apologies needed on time. Thanks for sharing your skills and tips.
I’m really learning a lot from your videos. I’ll be doing the non-skid on my 1980 Grady-White Marlin 201. Thanks See Goodview Woodworks this is my son’s TH-cam channel. He also uses Total Boat in some of his epoxy projects.
hi Andy I have a sail boat factory non skid surface deck with lots of cracks . I recored the deck from the Inside. now I need to repair the outer deck how should I proceed
Andy, will the soft sand work as well with Alexseal? I really like the idea of their paint because of the ability to roll it, and i don't really want to use Kiwigrip if i can use 2-part paint instead. Your videos gave me the confidence to buy an old boat, and i really appreciate the value that you provide!
Thoroughly enjoy your videos, you do great work. Where did you learn to do this? Do you ever consider working with more people, or do you prefer working more "solo" on projects?
As always, great video Andy! Did you consider adding a flattening agent or similar to the last coats to reduce the sheen or sun reflection? What is you opinion based on your experience?
Question, I have a jet boat and want to re coat the whole boat with a layer of fiberglass. What are your recommendations, want to end with a gel coat finish. I see u used gel coat to help cure the fiber glass, after i fiber glass, can I use an epoxy high build primer to help seal and cure the fiberglass, then sand and gel coat?? What products wld you recommend for this application
love your videos. sailing couple here. this is my wife's account but I wanted to say hey. wish I had your knowledge. not sure if boat works is your product but I'll be buying some merch soon to support what you're doing. keep up the awesome.
Man I was like where is he at, did he take off sailing around the world or what. But as always awesome video. Very informative and awesome looking job.
Andy, will this Awlgrip non-skid technique work to cover an existing (really worn out) diamond pattern, molded in non skid surface? Or should I do some kind of thickened epoxy roll on technique to cover the existing pattern? I am re-doing the deck surface on a 36 year old Watkins 27 and do not want to re-create the existing pattern using a mold. That would take forever. Will be starting with the cockpit sole which is totally worn. A crewmember recently slipped and almost fell down the companionway. Great videos! Thanks for the tutorials.
And here I thought you had to spray on the non-skid. If I wanted a different color for the non-skid would I just have that color available and ready to go?
Wait...you replied...do you know what that means? I am getting ready to purchase a hull that needs lots of tender love and care and I never laid a single sheet of glass. I am so excited about this endeavor. I promise not to hammer you to bad but your video series are the absolute best on the internet. PLEASE keep them coming as I will be using them to teach myself how to glass and customize certain aspects for my boat. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond I know how hard it must be to reply to everyone's requests.
You do beautiful work, i am sad I cant get my boat over to the states for you to do my hull and decks 😕 we are way behind USA in boat products here in the UK which SUX! Strange considering we are an ISLAND country! Like and sub’d! Happy New Year!
Thank you for taking the time to share this with us :) One question though; when you use only one "round of tape", are you not afraid that material from the previous coats, that has already hardened, will break of from the tape when you remove it, and land on the wet surface?
On a previous vid where you were doing non-skid, you added a flatner to the final topcoat. How did this one come out without the flatner? We're about to do our cockpit floor and trying to decide if the flatner is necessary. Thanks!
I've stopped using flattener as it really just complicates the application and longevity of the surface. Areas that have had flattener applied, if it gets scuffed the flattener gets removed and you're left with glossy patches on high traffic areas. Hope this helps!
How long do you leave your tape down. I have always been told pull tape with paint wet. I noticed you waited until after your seal coat. Is that ok to do if I'm using the green frog tape from lowes?
Why did you put nonskid on the whole cabin top? Usually one just puts nonskid in sections with water runoff paths in between. Perhaps it was the owners choice due to cost. Enjoy your vids.
When it's all said and done it's a pattern that will look very nice. The plan for this boat is blue water cruising so having a sure foot will be very important!
Awesome video. I am thinking of using the soft sand on our Catalina 25 that has been painted in the past. Did you use the same paint over the top of the soft sand? Does it have a gloss to it, or does the textured surface lessen the gloss?
please don't apologize for delays! You are running a business...I get that! Thanks for sharing your skills.
You do really quality work. Part of my decision to buy an older boat was based on watching all of your instructional videos. You're the one that did the work, take credit for it ;-)!!! Good job!!

Thank you for the kind words Luis, I really appreciate it! Good luck with your projects!!
Fantastic video!! "This has been a Boatworks Today production" at the end of your videos in that precious voice ALWAYS makes me smile!
Saturday night in NYC and we are watching your videos! Can't wait to start working on our 1968 houseboat in a few weeks using all we've learned from your amazing videos, thank you Andy for sharing your knowledge and craftsmanship!!!
You could use a Dyson portable vacuum to recover your excess sand before painting. Just vacuum up and dump back into the container!
Wow! What a fantastic teacher! Im blown away, Andy.
Real nice job. Like the thickness that job leaves. Beautiful job. 👍 Vinny 🇺🇸
I really like this stuff (so do my customers) ;-)!
You sir are a natural teacher! Excellent videos! Looking forward to seeing more.
Watching this again for the third time. Great work Andy…. as usual.

Your channel is like the best of both worlds between the old fix this house type shows and that guy bob Ross who used to paint on tv
You are one of my favorit TH-camrs along side with royalty like Jimmy Diresta, Ave, Wranglestar, Big Clive, Darbin Orvar and a couple more. Keep up the good work!
You are great man, I’m a big fan of your art..... because this is art. Best regards from Chile 🇨🇱. Keep up the great work.
Beautiful Thank you Andy for the great lesson.
Have missed your videos! Unbelievably nice work, really looking forward to following your next videos !! No wonder you have +50,000 followers!

Wow, very sharp looking nonskid! Great video Andy!
I was amazed that you didnt put drop cloths over the new teak before painting the decks
Absolutely amazing work.
No Flattening Agent? Looks like you have enough heavy coverage to take away the glare anyway :) I heard somewhere that Flattening Agent weaken the paint and shorten it's working lifespan by a few years. Thought?
As we say in Oz Andy VERY TIDY !
Andy! Where have you been mate?! Glad to have you back!!!
I got lost for a short time ;-).. Thanks for watching Travis!!

Absolutely outstanding video as usual
Good to see you back
You videos helped guide, and gave me the confidence to restore my little boat! Thanks for the help!
That turned out great.
Beautiful job. Thanks for sharing! This project is on the docket for me this winter! I've bookmarked the video!!

Very smart job, did I miss the teak deck going down
No, just haven't gotten to editing those video's yet but they're coming!
I am impressed, very nicely done!
Muy hermoso trabajo. Lástima que no está en español. Pues me serviría mucho para hacer unas cosas que quiero .
Have you ever tried to spray the non skid
That is just so so beautiful
Your work is phenomenal, I can’t stop watching and I’ve learned a ton about fiberglassing. Thanks for making these tutorials!!!
Brilliant results.
Awesome video. Any coverage coming about the teak deck?
You do very nice work and enjoy your vids. Thanks
Square centimeters (cm2), now that's sounds like academically elegante, pretty soon you'll be using liters as a liquid norm. :)
Loved the video...came out absolutely beautiful!
Thoroughly enjoy your videos, you do great work. Where did you learn to do this? Do you ever consider working with more people, or do you prefer working more "solo" on projects?
Tremendous job! What is the make/model of the boat you are working on?
Beautiful work! Very nice
Can I use soft sand over gel coat? And if so is it best to keep on top and not cover with another layer of gel coat?

Wow that came out great.

Thanks Scott! I've been chasing my tail the past few months on this project, so now it's time to play catchup on the content ;-)
Extra thumbs if I had 'em, fine work there matey! That cabin top looks spectacular!
Nine people hate working on boats themselves, meh.
Beautiful work. Wondered why you prefer painted on non skid to something like treadmaster? And yes..... did really miss your videos !
Did you have to sand the edges where the smooth paint was before you applied the primer?
Wow, that turned out really nice.

where are you located i have a 23 grady white project in norwood mass i was hit by a texer and need help finishing it
Beautiful job👍🏻👍🏻
When laying down the tape in prep. How do you manage to get such a perfect rounded corner? Thanks
did you add flattner to the seal coat? what is making it not shiny?
Awsome show Brother ,you should been an actor,!
Andy,
Can I use that same product of non skid if applying to gelcoat?
And here I thought you had to spray on the non-skid. If I wanted a different color for the non-skid would I just have that color available and ready to go?
Yup, whatever color paint you use will determine the color of the nonskid :-)

First time I've seen you. I'm jealous of your Shop. I'd love to have a place like that and having the boat wouldn't be bad either. Ha
Wow beautiful work well done
Came out great! Thanks for sharing!
Where are located at. At some point of time I'd like to come see your shop. I work all over the country, chasing Pipeline. Thanks for your videos
Northern Wisconsin :-)
Also thinking to come see your shop, long drive from Central Mexico though... Muchas gracias por compartir tu experiencia...
